The make up of Manhattan and New York has changed but I don't know if I can say they are whole or unbroken. I think its more that they are broken in a different way than generations before. Yes some of the problems that face younger people now may seem like its mostly superficial first world problems but its sort of the state of the world we left them with. A place like Prune might be a wonderful reminder of something more foundational, more core to human experience, and as a result rather punk/counter cultural to the cold corporate late capitalist consumerism. That might be too resistant and not easy and go with the flow like it once did? I love Prune and miss it. Healthcare and a good wage would be the bare minimum, for sure.

Near the end, Rose said thinking that is not moral nor enlightened nor aspirational -- that is what psychoanalysis about. In 12th step groups, we use the serenity prayer to think about how to act morally either by action or by acceptance.

This reading was fascinating. I particularly liked the phrase "legness," which seems to really get at the suchness of the leg, an irreducibly metaphysical and physical thing at once, and therefore of a fundamental value for thinking about matter and memory, though I also like the phrase "unreality of memory," since this too captures the wonkiness of memory, the way in which it is fallible, like a story cobbled together by a strong executive function or, in lesser examples, a sad college put together by a leg.

I absolutely love CAT. I admittedly judged her because of her wealthy parents, entitled upbringing and to cool for school NYC conde nast jobs. But once I started reading her blogs and read her book I fell in love with her brutal honesty . I had to admit to myself I was just envious of her life. I am not on social media I get really nervous taking pictures. I grew up being taught that looking at yourself all day is conceited and narcissistic. Maybe I just have low self esteem. I also don't idol worship celebrities and feel society has become so superficial and fake. It's refreshing these woman recognize the farse. N

Lucky Turtle caught my eye...the title and cover art, at my library here in Canton, Georgia a few days ago. I'm on page 271...sooooo thankful for no spoilers..lol. I'm so caught up in finishing reading and at the same time afraid I would never find this interview again...best part...I took notes...

Did anyone else wonder if the crack was even real or if the rest of the people are still swimming in the pool. Like, maybe the crack was something that only Alice perceived. Like the phenomena of the crack was her fading mind's way of making sense of why she was no longer swimming each day.

OF COURSE they had to throw in aNteeVakZeRz and qAn0n. If only you guys were as passionate about the SCIENCE showing detrimental effects of blue light and scrolling on their on when it comes to children having screen time. It has nothing to do with you not letting them make posts. It has nothing to do with her knowing about social media "anyway" in the future. IT'S ABOUT NEUROLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT. You don't hand the car keys to a 9 year old because they are going to learn to drive "anyway"... The effect social media has on your 40 year old brain is not the same effect it has on a 5 year old, 10 year old, or even 18 year old. FRONTAL LOBE DEVELOPMENT. Look it up like you look up celebrity photos unedited.

"hire more black people to be at the top of the company"... So, you don't care about incompetent people at the top, completely undeservingly, as long as their skin is the right color? Newsflash: YOU LIVE IN THE USA WHERE THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION IS CAUCASIAN. Do you go to Japan and scoff and get butthurt at the lack of red hair "representation"? Mexican "representation"? Blue eye "representation"?? Minorities are called minorities not because they are less than, but because there are less of them than there are of others. There is not enough brown skin people to hire to be at the top of every company. ffs. And you all are past 30, and even mothers?? You can't explain the world to your children if you yourself don't understand it.

This interview could have been so much more if you had all been in the same room or had decent internet on all fronts. But also, if you guys stopped with the self hatred. "White people" aren't the center of pop culture. YOU guys have always just been culturally navel gazing your entire lives. That's on you, and for everyone else that has done that, it's their problem. There have been pop culture icons ALL OVER THE WORLD, and mind you, a considerable number of them got their break through the USA entertainment machine. Just in the time since y2k there's already been 3 "latin invasions" in the music industry. Don't talk to me about how "white people" steal everyone's thunder. Mexican cinema used to be even more tied to Hollywood 80 years ago. You aren't pushing "for change". wah wah, you hate "white people"... we get it. You're not racist. What else? Do you want a cookie? Do you think dronebama's daughters are any less entitled, nepotist snobs than mark zuckerberg? Do you think Naomi Campbell is so much more deserving of fame than... I don't know, Cindy Crawford? You guys talk about not being "a basic" and yet you have your entire POV straight out of CNN and twitter, which got you to even think about that stuff and say things like "white privilege" and whatever tf. There's only green privilege. Get over it.

How is it not obvious to ANY of you by now that "making it" in the industry is not organic?? Is your mind really that blown at the thought that people on tiktok with "millions" of followers are propped up by the machine? Do you not know who owns Tiktok? Do you think the fact that some of the other "famous" teens off tiktok have ties to the US military? Come on. You can't be that clueless.

THE LATINX is just another mythology being created in an fake attempt to unify Latinos. It's shameful that we use it under the disguise of "uniting" when in reality this is dividing our community between elder-younger; class issues; educational levels. So many of us refuse to be takenm in by this fad. The latest attempt is "e" Latine...please, where does this end?? Mexicanix?? Italianix?? get real. stop destroying our beautiful language
