You can apply to three "restrictive early action" schools using the common app. In my case, that would be Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. I could also apply to one additional college using "early action," in which case would be Dartmouth.

@ doesnt work like that bro. you can first of all only apply early decision to dartmouth meaning you cannot apply to any other private university. same applies to stanford and harvard. rea also implies that you can only apply to one of those schools but you aren’t obliged to attend. hope to have clarified that. unfortunately you have violated the policy of the universites

It implies that if the affordability provided from the school allows the student attend, then that’s when it becomes “binding.” If I violated university policies then why hasn’t the school notified me of potential consequences? I’m not sure what your getting at with this but all the power to you in voicing your opinions. I will have to agree to disagree. Good day.

@@SireUniversity I applied to Harvard on it's REA timeline. This is directly off of it's website: Harvard welcomes interested applicants to apply under our Restrictive Early Action plan by November 1 in order to be notified of a decision in mid-December. Restrictive Early Action is a non-binding early program, signifying that if admitted, you are not obligated to attend, and have until May 1 to reply to our offer of admission. IMPORTANT: If you are applying to Harvard under Restrictive Early Action, you may not apply to any other private institution under an Early Decision, Early Action, or Restrictive Early Action plan, or to a binding early program at a public university. Note: No EDing, or EAing to any private institution, or any REA whatsoever. I'm sure this applies to every other REA school, but I will not take the time to check. That is the 'restrictive' part, after all. Universities do not know if you violated their policies immediately, but they will surely figure it out and it will be reflected in admissions decisions. It's unclear if this means immediate deferral, rejection, or rescinding of any acceptances: they don't tell you. I would recommend you email the offices of all REA programs you applied to and choose a single one to continue at risk of none of them accepting you.
