Vickers Geode Machine Dig - Monster Geodes!
Vickers did not Disappoint - Wonderful variety of growths found inside and I love my specimens - proud to add them to my collection. Overall, I think my BEST specimens were in the 6-8in range - like a large grapefruit. Beware the bigger and "heavier" ones. So tempting, I know. The 2 giants I shipped back were Duds. LOL. But who knows if yours will be winners! Have fun.

You will find a peaceful calm and Garnets galore at this historic dam. The easiest rockhounding we've done in a while. Great times on the club dig for 2023. Everyone took home a sweet tooth or bone this trip. You never know what will come out of this Ice Age sand so dig your heart out when you get there. It's also really convenient that they provide the sifters, stands and even buckets when you get there. There is also a changing area at the parkinglot so you can get out of those wet clothes. Petrified wood just got Sexy. The druzy quartz sparkle like diamonds and the smoky colors are just amazing. I could stare at them for hours. Yeah I think that's red barite. It's really confusing to me because it looks so similar to the limonite after marcasite that you find a little further south around Potosi.

What about the peace river or Hillsborough river
I haven't researched the geology in those locales as to the good calcification you see in here. The Hillsborough River is certainly in the zone for silica I believe - all that agatized corals in that area. Peace River, haven't heard of any myself. Sorry for the lack of input

Thanks for the video, Anthony! I have only ever done the $25 dig at Twin Creek, and didn't make a video of it, unfortunately. I have been wanting to get back there and try a $300 pocket and see how it goes, so I really appreciate you sharing what it's like. Yeah, that seems a little like a tease about the veins being 20 feet high that you have access to, but can't really work it because it's like a cliff verses a slope that's easy to climb to work the material. Thanks again, my friend!!

Not crinoids. Acrocyathus fossil coral. It's similar (a little older) than the coral that are the potoski stones.

I was wondering if some of those were horn corals, but I don't know what all that St. Louis area has to offer as I've never hounded there before. Like @3:40 it looks like a brachiopod on the left, horn coral in the middle, not sure about the fossil on the right??
@@joedadbod8450 That one is a brachiopod sideways... heheh just happy to see anything!
Hey they are a rare score but Union road agates are found in the same area as that type of fossil coral in chert.

Are the clams pretty easy to break open? Dying to break apart a bunch of different calcite rock I found, 🌞 experiment.
These clams are not hard at all, but the cocquina host rock is. I usually smack from below now. Put the clam on a thick cloth upside down and even sometime score a nice line with the saw and then hit it. I've perfected several ways you might say. LOL ... sitll looking for that perfect even split.

So a buddy of mine went there not long ago. I think after you were here for this video and he couldn’t go in. He said it was being forclosed? Is that true? No more rucks? I so wanted to get a chance to go there and dig myself. I am in Florida all the time. I am in coconut creek right now. Lol. I’m a truck driver and here almost every week. You found some nice stuff in this video. So did Aiden. Of course Aiden always finds good stuff everywhere he goes. Lol.
Hi, As for the financial status and viability of that site, I don't know. I hear lots of things/rumors. Only thing I can confirm is that Eddie Rucks is still the owner so if you do go out there, find him and get a quick video of him saying you can dig there. Eddie usually comes and goes, so this way you have proof if anyone else shows up. Hope this helps.

Yeah that machine sounded so rough on the rocks lol i just pictured crystals breaking but I guess it’s part of the process with machine digging
Thanks... yup, everypiece I picked up... my mind says. "Hope you're OK" lol. I have had first hand feedback from people who have pulled plates from that and other sites. when they washed it off, it all "came apart" which is heartbreaking, right. That's why i used low pressure on the mud rinse and really happyto have repaired about 8 to 10 pieces. I'm crazy!
