    Hat auch genauso bei einem I30 GD geklappt. Der einzigste Unterschied war, dass man zum zurückdrehen des Kolben einen 30er Torx Schlüssel braucht Anstelle eines Imbus.

    Never do this. Use aligator clips and a 9 volt battery to retract the EPB. Remove the electrical connection to the electronic parking brake and attach the aligator clips to the connections inside the electronic parking brake system. Just did it on a 2020 Santa Fe

    June 2023, used this on my Hyundai i30 2017 and only difference is that the motor hex screws are 4mm. The motor piston hex hole is 5mm as per i40. Took 30 mins. per side to do (sticky wheels on hubs). 43,000 miles and the pads were down to about 1.5mm! Easy job to do.

    This video was excellent. Though I have a 2019 Tuscon Hyundai the rear brake setup is identical to this Hyundai i40. This perfectly describes EXACTLY what needs to be done to change the rear brake pads on a EPB system. The one thing I'd add is that the same Allen Tool that is used to remove the two black bolts that hold the motor onto the caliper, is the same one that you can use to wind the caliper back. You can do it with just your fingers as its very easy to turn. ALWAYS TURN CLOCKWISE regardless of the side of the car (Left/Right) that you're working on. You can then depress the piston back into the caliper with just finger pressure. No clamp was needed to retract the piston. Thank you PEW!!

    • @papaechowhiskey

      You could either drop some penetrating oil down there and wait a day or two to see if that helps, or you could heat it with a torch (keeping away from any rubber) and try that. An impact driver may also help to break it free.

    Hi, followed your instructions, wound in the plunger but piston won't budge tried turning the piston to see if that works still won't go in. Any suggestions? Cheers 😊

    • @papaechowhiskey
      @papaechowhiskey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re just using your hands to push in the piston, it might need more force. Maybe try a G-clamp and clamp the piston in? If that fails, it could be seized, in which case I’d drop some penetrating oil around the piston and leave for a few hours before trying again. If you use the oil, make sure you flood it with brake cleaner when you’re finished.

    • @papaechowhiskey
      @papaechowhiskey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No probs! Nope, once you’ve wound in the electric motor, you can simply push the piston in with a bit of force (it took both thumbs for me). If it’s stuck, try using a G-clamp or similar to help squeeze it in

    • @papaechowhiskey
