The T Bird is a long away from home. The 'club' or historic vehicle plate is for Victoria, Australia.
esto es contenido robado de Classic Cars and Fruit
Rather futuristic cars from the past. So dignified models.
Facking Baden , Blinken und Bush😮😮😮😮😮
Pretty 💩y stuff really.
for the foldway back seats: Citroen Safari (1954); "pistol grip" shift try the Citroen Traction Avant (1934)or the Citroen 2CV (1948); cornering lights Citroen DS
how can you compress a 1080p video into such low quality?
Back then cars seemed fun!
Golden days of automotive design and innovation. Now it’s the plastic shop cart era with same looking bore designs
When America had confidence. Sadly missed today. America, please get over your post-Vietnam self doubt and start to be the country of Roosevelt & Kennedy again.
I remember that a caddy my dad had came with an automatic headlight dimmer. 62 i think.
.. Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
Coches realmente espectaculares.
Yep. American barges - (in)famous for having 'everything that opens and shuts', until it doesn't. 🤣🤣🤣 Meanwhile UK, European and Japanese manufacturers were more interested in making cars with suspension that didn't 'float like a boat' or 'handle like a wet sponge' in corners and that could go AND stop - and less interested in 'bling'. BTW - 'hideaway' headlights AND headlights that turned with the steering wheel were available in the 1930s.
Today's designers put just as much thought into roominess, comfort, convenience and - most of all - originality. Right.
How old is "vintage"?
The word vintage literally means "of age." With such an open meaning, there are many interpretations. Most antique dealers consider an item to be vintage if it is at least 40 years old. So, in the context of this blog date, a vintage item would be made between 1918 and 1978.
In 'automotive circles' NONE of the vehicles in the video qualify as 'vintage'. They are ALL 'classic' at best. When addressing auto enthusiasts it's irrelevant what the 'literal' meaning of 'vintage' is or what 'antique dealers' consider to be 'vintage' or even what wine makers mean by the term ('year of harvest' btw). To auto enthusiasts 'vintage' denotes built between 1919 and 1930. Pre 1919 vehicles are 'veteran'. Post 1930 there's no particular designation other than 'classic'. Most auto enthusiasts agree that, to qualify as 'classic', a vehicle must be at least 25 years old. 'Classic' is the only designation that has 'moveable' dates.
@@southafricaracingmadness You appear to allege that the only qualification for a vehicle to be designated 'vintage' is that it is at least '40 years old'. You then suggest that ALL vehicles dating from 1978 back to 1918 qualify as 'vintage'. So, what do pre-1918 vehicles qualify as?!
THIS IS WHEN CARS WERE CARS
Im creeping up on 60 years old and just now have seen those Riviera headlights open. Better late than never.
This video looks remarkably similar to one posted 3 years ago by another channel..
Old is gold
That '67 Imperial was ahead of it's time; they actually THOUGHT about making a car for a laptop, and they haven't even been INVENTED yet! 🤔 Wow...what"ll they think of next??? 🤨😏
That was good cars not like these days
The roll down vent windows on Lincolns were a nightmare to work on. I owned an 85, 87 and 88, same issues with stress cracks on the inner doors from the window mechanism
1934 Plymouth had them - NEVER failed. So much for 'progress', huh? 😉😊🤣
It looks great but that 67 ford wagon with rear seats was painful. Parents packed six kids in there and two suckers had their hips bruised and lost their ability to walk by the end of the ride.
My aunt had a 4 door Thunderbird, I loved that car.
The laptop table was clearly decades ahead of it's time !
Back then it was called the mobile picnic table 😂😂😂
it also came with a Tensor lamp that could be plugged into any of four outlets
I thought wagons would make a comeback with the Mini Cooper Clubman but that didn't work. The wagon is probably dead, which makes NO sense. Wouldn't the extra trunk space make it ideal for an EV? Also makes no sense that mini pickups aren't taking advantage of the rear bed for EV models. I think the EV industry is trying to hold back the technology so they can fatten their wallets with overpriced vehicles like Tesla and Rivian are doing....
I remember the roll down tailgate my Dad had a Buick station wagon that did that. As a kid that was cool.
Thats why cars of yesterday are collected, alot of them had cool features, todays Engineers have no creativity.
I've known about all these features with the exception of the Hurst Trigger Shifter and the Rambler Two Shifter, but what this video underscores is how interesting car design was / how interesting cars were. Fuel economy and enviornmental concerns took the focus away much of the sexiness of cars for a time, and today, nothing really is particularly exciting from a mechanical engineering standpoint...everything is an SUV with a limited number of designs, same colors, etc. and the selling point always seems to be infortainment. I am only interested in how the vehicle looks and how it drives....no interest in calling people to talk on speaker and be overheard or listen to music. Of all these designs, only the Ford "magic tailgate" (possibly), the sequential turn signals of the Thunderbird (on the current Mustang), and the rear-hinged suicide doors of the Lincoln Continental and short-lived four door Thunderbird resurrected for use on the cars from Rolls-Royce. It's funny how the director's seat in the Imperial would actually be more useful today with the more compact laptops and tablets of today compared to what, a Smith-Corona typewriter?! Plus, perfect for those who have motion sickeness, and car ride facing backwards. My parents' had a Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser with the slideaway clamshell tailgate, but what I've learned only recently is that cars of this era had become too big as both my parents and my Grandparents who had a Fleetwood Brougham, had to extend their garages by several feet just to keep the car inside. I'm sure its one reason why America gave a warm welcome to the downsized cars.
Thank you, @manofthehour6856, for your comment and for sharing your story. Really Inspirational 🫡
In every area of 'life' Americans are well known for preferring 'look at me' syling and believing 'bigger is better'. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has preferred performance and reliability in motor vehicles. BTW - if you think 'suicide' rear doors on Rolls were, in any way, 'inspired' by any American vehicle, you need to do more thorough research on the history of 'suicide' doors. 😉😊
0:37 Overpriced Modern SUV owners are watching this with envy.
Totally agree with you
BTW, the Cougar in your video about the hide away headlights was a 68, not a 67.
Thanks for the info. Mistakes does happen
Yup, those were the Days my Friend we thought they'd never end, we sing and dance..... That was a Song. (Those were the Days)
Ford station wagons are luxury cars?? Rambler?
Those "cheap" American cars are luxury in other countries.
I would add lamp monitors
Lekker !!
Top video
The horseshoe shifter came in one year of the Riviera as well. I believe it was the 1969 model. I'm getting old so I'm not sure if that's the right year. It also came in a certain other GM products as well.
Also known as the ' basket-handle' shifter, it also appeared in the Boattail Riviera (1971-73). That was a beautiful and unique-looking vehicle, IMHO.
@@marcuscross6840 They were definitely a beautiful, and unique car. And you're right, it did have that shifter as well. I think about the 68, or 69 model because there's one sitting in a town about ten miles away. No engine, just the body. Unfortunately it owned by one of the, "I'll get around to fixing it one day" types.
Every one of those accomplishments today are considered safety hazards by pathological bureaucraps and are not allowed on newer bland vehicles. You forgot the sliding roofs on late 60s Studebakers. We had a car like that, great in the summer, we sibs would fight over who sat in the back back seat in the warmer weather.
Yet they make cars out of plastic today, cars back then were safer.😊
@@davidsmith385LOL not even close 😂
First of all, what an ignorant statement you've made. "Every" one? Do you not see sequential turn signals on any car that can squeeze them on? Do you not recall the GMC Envoy of 2004-5 with a retractable roof? And by the way, since production of the make ended in March 1966, there's no such thing as a "late 60s Studebaker". As far as the safety of cars, I love classic cars as much as anyone but for daily driving I'll keep by safety cage and crumple zones, airbags and curtains, better steering, and 4 wheel disc brakes on bigger, *wider* tires.
Roger on the "beaurocraps"
That's bullshit, a complete falsehood.
