Artist Residencies, managing projects, and documenting the art process
มุมมอง 98ปีที่แล้ว
I got an artist residency! Now what?! There is so much I want to do and pile on the rest of the year, how do I manage expectations to post and produce, and also document the process? I admit I'm asking the questions here and will be answering them as I go. Sometimes we learn the hard way, by weightlifting all of those projects! This link is a work in progress, where you can find the presales, p...
Working with What You Have: Let's Stop Comparison and Envy from Stealing Your Creativity

Impressionist Acrylic Painting a Misty Midwest Summer Morning Abstract Landscape (short version)
มุมมอง 952 ปีที่แล้ว
How to paint an impressionist abstract landscape in acrylic with a painting knife! Abstract landscapes with lots of texture are really run right now. In this piece, I wanted to experiment with using mint green in a Midwest landscape, invoking the glorious mist of a humid summer morning. I also delve deeper into directional brushstrokes to direct the viewers eyes. I primed my canvas with Quinacr...
Painting Aslan Singing A Sunrise in Acrylic Impasto
มุมมอง 2052 ปีที่แล้ว
Watch a super fast impasto acrylic painting of Aslan singing a sunrise. During a church service in 2019, we were celebrating all the amazing facets and styles of worship and people God created. I was inspired to paint this highly textured composition of Aslan ( a lion character from C.S. Lewis' Narnia series) singing creation into being and imagining Jesus doing the same with all the different ...

Great Idea!

So exciting!
Thank you!
Love to see your sweet face! We can't wait to see what you're up to. Love you!
Thank you!
Starting with such a bold, contrasting color is an interesting choice! It does add a sort of bright undercurrent to the finished painting. ☺️
Thank you so much! I was inspired by another artist who used a neon PURPLE behind his landscapes... that might be next! Bright Orange is another of my favorites, more similar to traditional burnt umber.
I have spent quite a bit of time trying to get clouds to look right myself... Clouds are surprisingly hard to do well without a lot of practice. Kudos to your friend for taking time to study them. 👍
Very true! I'm getting hungry to try them out again this year...

Omg do I have this! But ya know what’s worse? Wasting time...that’s the crazy thing The materials are there to be used. And the only wasted materials are unused ones in reality
Time! A resource we can never get back!

Yaay! So glad you found it and especially glad it's doing it job!
How fun!
Thank you!
Love it!
So glad!
Fear of regret is such a strong thing. I've been realizing that a lot recently Honestly I'm happy I'm going through this in my teenage years and not in some important project for some job or something. Thank you for this c:
It sounds odd to day, but that sounds wonderful! I'm glad you're aware and thinking about it early.
what is that object you used to draw the black lines at the 6 minute mark?
It's a big ol' stick of charcoal! I'll use that to sketch out, I can also mostly wipe it off if the paint is dry, if I want to change it. It does "mush into" the acrylic paint and make it darker....but that's a ..... feature? Lol.
