Building an Off-Grid Hunting Cabin on landlocked property
มุมมอง 7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Join me on an exciting journey as I build an off-grid hunting cabin on my secluded, landlocked property. The property is landlocked by hundreds of acres of public land, with no established road access, so everything is hauled back by pack, sled or bike. In this video, you’ll see the entire process from clearing the land to a tour of the almost finished cabin (when is a cabin ever finished?). Wh...

Jim climbed Widow Maker without a winch. I unfortunately stopped rolling footage just before he crested the hill. The guys grabbed the winch line to aid if the front end started tipping back.

1983 Jeep CJ7 Propane Conversion - Gotpropane.com
มุมมอง 6K14 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video of my jeep running after converting to propane. The timing and idle still need to be tuned, but I am very happy with the conversion so far. The kit was provided by GotPropane.com I decided to do the conversion because of the steep angles of rock crawling / hill climbs, and the issues that I had with a carburated engine in these scenarios. The propane conversion was attractive as i...
A rap around porch would be cool up there
I agree... Maybe for my next build, I'd do a full wrap around. With this one being so remote, I minimized the size and materials. It was enough work getting the materials back for the small deck that is there today! ;-)
I would not have built on land locked property what do u do if the other property owner says u cant go through thier property to get to it
It's land locked by 1000 of acres of state land... so access is not an issue.
Ok cool
You came back after 13 yrs!!!
I'm back!!!
Amazing would love to see more after coming from Facebook it looks great
Thanks for the compliments. Planning on putting together some videos of using it this winter. More to come!
We have deer blinds in Michigan and I noticed you have not treated the outside wood yet, the best thing to do is either brush on or use a cheap deck sprayer and spray a mix of 80 percent used engine oil and 20 percent kerosene or diesel fuel on it. Preserves the wood and keeps all bugs wasps critters away from it for 3-4 years. Smells for about 6 weeks so I recommend doing in the spring. Also I did not get a look at the underside of your floor bit I recommend putting 2” foam board insulation up there and wrapping it in screen.
The outside is treated plywood, so should last from the elements pretty well, but I do plan on coating it at some point. Need a few good years for it to dry out so it will take coat good. Regarding the floor, you are right, it does need more insulation. Right now, it's just a roll of foil bubble insulation right under the subfloor. Was thinking of the rigid foam board. Have stayed away from fiberglass in case there is ever moisture.
@ I let my rough cut lumber blinds season 1 year before applying the used engine oil and it’s awesome I get no wasps or ants or mice or any porcupines everything leaves it alone.
Very cool. I came here after seeing your Facebook post. I subscribed. Looking forward to seeing what else you do to the cabin
Thanks for checking it out. I'll post some more updates as I continue the build.
Nice work!
Thanks for the visit
Nice! Loved it. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice job!
Thanks!
Very nice! I hope you have security cameras just in case. I mean you are showing everyone what you have, just saying 😬🫣
Where would you even start to try and find this place though...
There are plenty of cellular security cameras.
@@MrTumorHumor I wouldn’t start but other people don’t have morals and would rob anyone possible.
@ glad to hear.
@@greeneyes678 again, how would they find this place lol I see zero land marks or anything to go off of
Pretty cool.
Just saw this video! Don't know how I missed it. Thank you for doing it so we can hear it instead of music:) I hope this is still running strong and continues to for many years to come. I love the Jeep 2 Barrel propane kits because of how much stronger they run and how smooth they idle. The Weber Carburetor and Carter Carburetor both do a poor job of letting these engines run to their full potential. They ran as well or better than any fuel injection conversion. The oil stays clean for much longer as well. Thanks again, Cary @ Gotpropane.com
Amazing vehicles. I saw a bunch of these a few weeks ago on the American side at some of the local gas stations.
Those trails look like a great time!
Its just north of Sault Ste Marie in Canada. There used to be a webpage for one of the parks, but I could not find it via a google search.
where is tis 4x4 park in canada?
It would be the cost of a second selnoid, high pressure hose and fittings... Not sure on the cost, but I think if you give the guys at Got Propane a call they could tell you. You would also need another set of mounting brackets for the tank.
Sure thing! I am still running this almost 2 years later and love the conversion. This is a full LPG conversion, no option to run gasoline. The only issue that I have had is making sure that I have enough fuel onboard (ran out a few times on the trail). To remedy this, I now carry two tanks with me. I am looking at running a second line to the second tank and putting another fuel selnoid in so that I can switch tanks with a flip of a switch. -Rob
@asssface2000 - There is more then just hoses, fittings and a mixer. There is also fuel shut-offs, the injector, adaper, new silicone gaskets, tank mounting brackets, etc. Also, Cory the owner provides great advice and support when making the modifications. Show me a parts list where you can get the kit for well under $850 not using something that is cobbled together. I looked up the parts that I needed seperatly and was over the cost of the kit.
so you paid like $850 for some hoses and fittings and a mixer? seems like a rip off.
The install did not take very long. I did it in a few stages, but I think less then 4 hours total. Very easy install, just think though and plan before you do the install. Not sure on the MPG as this is a trail rig, but the response is great and I would say that there feels like horsepower increase from the seat of your pants.
