Sorry for being late. Probably the 2nd one, and latest versions too, as the latter is prone to rust on the nib, sometimes and if not properly cleaned. But they are all sturdy pens!

Indeed. If you have an "old duragraph" the only solution is to switch the nib. New models should fit Jowo nibs. I hope all the issues has been addressed.

E' stata una sostituzione ragionata...Quando l'ho commissionata a Ranga ho chiesto di far montare un alimentatore da 4mm (su questa penna c'è la doppia possibilità, o il più comune 5mm o il 4mm), sapendo che avrei sostituito il pennino Ranga originale con questo Waterman'S che avevo.

@@lpasteurh Have you ever thought of teaching this step-by-step letter-by-letter. I'd imagine those would end up being very popular videos with forever increasing hits. Is this something you do for work or just a hobby? Did it take a long time to learn?

@@jezbon Thank you for the kind words. In fact I am the furthest person from being a calligrapher, I could not "teach" or give advice, but I really appreciate that I can be a cue for someone. I just have fun, I fix vintage pens but I also use modern ones a lot, and the most representative ones I show here. (like this hybrid Ranga)

Ovviamente non sono a conoscenza di tale informazione, ma potrebbe essere un'ipotesi, dato che ľautomotrice è una M4 della serie 300 tra le più vecchiette e sicuramente sottoposte a manutenzione. Non ricordo che unità fosse, dovrei riguardarmi le foto che ho scattato quel giorno. Ad essere sincero non avevo dato molto peso alle fumate bianche ed effettivamente solo ora noto che erano piuttosto evidenti!

Da altre foto della giornata posso dire che la 309 e 310 erano ferme in manutenzione nel piazzale retrostante. La 309 con i carrelli tagliati e il sistema Train Stop montato.

Well yes, indeed. I don't regret the gold nib, I can't find any advantages to it other than raising the price. This one is two-tone gold plated and is quite elegant. For the converter yes, it would be better if it was included.

The gasket on the bottom of the pen, internally, has dried up or is missing. So there is no friction, or not enough to keep the nib stable out of the pen. You need to replace it, not an easy task, you have to get the hang of it and disassemble the whole pen. A partial dismantle is shown in this video at the beginning. Thank you!

Beh si, in genere anche altri flessibili (e i loro alimentatori) non sono da meno. Ho usato carta Oxford optik paper che regge di tutto ed è molto liscia (un pelo meno patinata della Rhodia), ottima per quest'uso. 👍

It's an excellent pen and writes well. Definitely a good pen for heavy daily use. I gave it away because it is a bit heavy in the lacquered brass model. But resin versions are available, they should be better. Thanks!

Ciao, dipende da dove perde. Se perde da dietro, dalla manopola per far rientrare il pennino, si è deteriorata la guarnizione di sughero del fondello. Praticamente il 99% dei casi se la penna è stata acquistata online o presso un mercatino, non restaurata/riparata. Se perde davanti, dall'alimentatore, beh le rientranti sono soggette a questo tipo di inconveniente. La causa può essere un inchiostro troppo scorrevole o semplicemente impugnarle riscaldando il fusto con la mano. Anche se la guarnizione posteriore è leggermente deteriorata può causare trafilamento di aria e far goccialare la penna dal pennino. Prova a cambiare inchiostro e a controllare lo stato delle guarnizioni. Se proprio non se ne viene a capo tocca conviverci, le rientranti hanno tutte temperamento diverso.

@@lpasteurh grazie mille, mel'ha regalata la mia vicina 90enne, l'ho pulita e ho messo l'inchiostro parker, all'inizio ha perso 3 goccioloni da davanti, ora è perfetta, sono esterefatto da questo pennino, di un altro livello.

Ciao video bellissimo. Ho la stessa penna che era del mio bisnonno, non riesco a smontare la parete dì dietro da voce si toglie il pennino, ho paura dì forzarlo. Come si svita?

Ciao, grazie mille. Nel video ho mostrato come rimuovere tutta la parte posteriore della penna, nel tuo caso puoi provare a lasciare per un po' la parte in acqua per rimuovere eventuali incrostazioni. Per aiutarti a svitare puoi migliorare la presa con un guanto di gomma o un pezzo di camera d'aria. Tocca insistere, prima o poi verrà via. Per staccare la spirale del meccanismo dalla parte posteriore e liberare anche il pomello del fondello, se la tua penna è proprio una Wat. 42, tocca battere posteriormente con uno spillone e un martelletto ľasse della spirale, dall'esterno, fino a che non viene via e si sfila. Operazione da fare su un supporto cavo o un blocco di estrazione su cui poggiarsi. Attenzione, ľebanite è fragile: operare con prudenza. 😉 Spero di essere stato esaustivo! 👍

With a flexible nib you can vary the thickness of the stroke as the pressure applied varies. There are many different degrees of softness. This is a semiflexible, probably just a little bit more. The most flexible nibs available are known as "Wet Noodles"

Stop! Never put india ink in a fountain pen, or else it becomes clogged! India ink is safe only on dip pens.👍

@@PiotrBarcz Yes, I don't know what pen it is, but if it's a cartridge pen it probably accepts standard cartridges. Look for Pelikan 4001, they should be fine and most common available.

@@lpasteurh I have cartridges. Have you ever used brush pens? They're pretty fun! I have one that takes cartridges and I'm wondering if that would take india ink...

​@@PiotrBarcz No I have never used them, not quite my genre of writing instrument. I honestly don't know if they can take india ink as well. In any case india ink is not the safest thing in general, because it clog the feeder which is very hard to wash thorougly.

Yes, the material is nice with some pearlescence and the pen is well built. This nib is also very good but I have to say that is a replacement: a standard EF Jowo #6 nib. The original one was really bad... But now I know that Conklin uses Jowo nibs on their pen currently, probably due to problems.

The second one, I guess...and the nib was all in all quite new at the time. The pen is very smooth; the paper used in that test was bad, quite rough, but enough for notes. You convinced me to make a new better video, I will upload it in the next few days, thanks!

You did a really great job. Unfortunately they don't have EF nib to sell with this pen, they have for some other moonman's pens, but not this one that is my favorite. So instead I will buy a Kaigelu 316, which has a EF nib to sell (different sellers I have saw describe it as 0.38 or 0.4 to 0.5).
