Histri Hi(story) on a Hillfort - Foraging and Slow Walk & Talk
มุมมอง 1934 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was curious to pay more attention to which plants are growing on ancient hillfort. Did not forage much except the few mint and savory leaves, but I found and learned a lot Note: There is still no consensus about ethnic origin of Histri. Some considered them Illyrian, others Thracian, and some consider them Venetic tribe, or mix of the above. I referred to them as Illyirian as most of the time...

    • @HillfortLady

@@joshbrown9301 Yes, I really like the randomness in where they appear, they seem quite unpredictable at times. I'm in Croatia, I know some general areas where they might be found, but did not find the "exact spots" yet unfortunately. Nothing left to do but keep trying. People usually don't like to share info on good locations they know, so it's hard to find out that way

Correction: Plant on 05:25 is not sage, but most likely some type of hedgenettle

  • @HillfortLady

Some additions I did not mention on the video, as I discovered them later or forgot to mention while editing: - That feather really does belong to a woodpecker! Most likely Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major). Furthermore, I did hear a woodpecker few days earlier on the same spot, - The bent over tree shape most commonly occurs when a dead tree or heavier branch falls on a sapling and bends it over. Sapling survives and continues to grow, so once it reaches a certain point it simply continues growing upwards as it should, searching for the sun, while it remains bent. There are however some stories and research being done on the artificial creation of such trees by humans, for use in trail marking and navigation through the forest (mainly by Native American tribes), but likely some others that I missed finding out about, - I automatically said "he" when referring to mosquito that is biting, as I translated it badly while I was irritated, and I am more used to my native language. I am aware only female mosquitoes bite. Noting it here, just in case.
