As an autistic person, splatoon is my "special interest" and takes up a lot of my daily thoughts. And I've discovered a lot of people seem obsessed with it too and I've always found it strange how much we love this game and I'm happy to find a video on it

YAP SESSION AHEAD!!! (It's very long, be warned) I am an autistic trans man. I am so happy about how the community openly accepts trans people. You don't see that in other games. I love everything about the series, from the deep intricate lore to the colorful atmosphere and cartoony artstyle. I also love team-based shooters, which is another factor that drew me into Splatoon. Splatoon is so damn unique from any other team-based shooters by far. It has multiple insanely fun-looking modes, one of the best and most diverse soundtracks of all time, very memorable and interesting characters, and more that I can yap about for ages. I haven't even played any of the games yet because I didn't really have access to them at the time, and I just now stopped being jobless, but ever since the first game came out I have been hyperfixated on it and desperately wanted to experience it. I have consumed multiple videos about Splatoon so that's why I know a lot about it despite not having any of the games yet. I can't wait to get Splatoon 3 and experience this game for myself.

I'm queer and autistic, and this franchise just scratches an itch. I don't like shooters, but splatoon allowed me to ease into the game with close combat weapons, and to just ink turf, so there was no shame in being a bad shot. The movement options are amazing, the weapon variety is great and doesn't begin and end with fire rate, distance, reload speed. It's got all the charm, fighting "good guys vs bad guys", it's colourful and designed with so much love and imagination. And ofc the whole customization thing is huge aswell, if you can base OCs off of it, you hook a good number of autistics, alright 🤌

I love splatoon. I’ve said this more than once. And as someone who is pansexual I think this game is one of the most interesting and fun shooters out there. The thing i love most about this game is the music. The music, its so unique and diverse in nature. I’ve drawn attraction to the bands of splatoon, and not the main idols, the ones who create battle music and stuff. The ones i love the most are Yoko And The Gold Bazookas and Ink Theory. A nice mix of jazz and rock. It’s very catchy. It’s so cool that nintendo made so much lore for this game 🫶 there’s so much room for self expression and creativity.

I started playing splatoon because it just seemed like a blast of a game. I'm only an ADHD person, not even LGBT, But I do agree that the game is probably one of the most queer coded games of this generation of online games.

I'm a gay trans woman with autism and I love splatoon sm. I got into it at the end of sploon 2 where I was just casually playing, but now, in sploon 3 I am hardcore into it - Using gear seeds to calculate chances for abilities on specific gear, grinding weapons to 4★, getting to S+ and finishing the catalogue twice. Sure, not super impressive, but I feel so accomplished that I did all that in the silly squid game. I love this game sm

I have austim and I this grabbed me when it was first announced and in 2019 and videos about the lore hooked me in. (And now this video makes me learn a bit more of how and why)

ever since i came across splatoon in 2018-2019, i’ve been obsessed i literally think about it + play it every day and ive bought so much merch i don’t think ive ever had such a connection with a game as much as splatoon

Autistic here, and I can tell that your school project was quite spot on. I also have to admit that I didn't find an appeal to FPS/TPS, until I tried the demo of Splatoon on the Wii U at a Toys'R'Us store. That just blew me away, changed the way I was thinking about shooters (still not interested in other shooters). The blend of "Paintball" approach, customization, and very complex lore is what drew me into the franchise, also Splatoon games have the greatest soundtrack ever😻😻😻

I don't think there is anything in this game series that attracts these people. I'm playing this game since Day 1 on the OG Switch and am not part of that community at all. The only thing I would say is because the whole world is cheezy, likeable and colorful is the reason why these people would like it. The way I see it there was no intention by Nintendo themselves to do anything in particular to attract these people

The entire reason I love Splatoon is because its just so appealing, the attention to details is crazy, and I generally like Video Game OSTs, especially Nintendo games, and Splatoon is by far the best when it comes to music. Also the Amiibo are cool to have. The only issue I have with Splatoon is the fact that the matchmaking, especially in 3, is so bad, half the time I will change my ability combos, and weapons, and will just have like 20 match lose streaks because I get matched with pros, and can barley find casual lobbies. The most fun I've had besides Splatfests is when my friend my bad internet plays, since I let him host and we get really easy lobbies. So hopefully in Splatoon 4 we get better matchmaking, and also dedicated servers (paying $20 a year in 2024 for Peer to Peer is pretty sad)
