At the Garden of Freedom we use permaculture principles to create a self-sufficient business. By giving workshops and having guests we want to show people a way to live more consciously with nature so we can take better care of her.
#7 The life on a permaculture farm | Homemade tomato sauce, sowing seeds, harvesting garlic
Since we were offline for a few weeks, we had to combine both July and August into one video. We saved many seeds and harvested a variety of vegetables. A lot needed to be preserved, and our dinners are becoming more and more diverse. After the festival, we completed many small building tasks. Plenty of updates to share with you-enjoy the content!

Priorities were set and we were ready to downsize our to-do list. Apparently in May it's raining the most in our area. Despite the rain we had a lot of thing to do outside. It was again a month with a lot of sun and we were hoping for some rain to fall soon. Before that rain we wanted to sort out our irrigation pond. In this way we become more self-sufficient too. March was full of sunny days, which gave us lots of opportunities to work outside. With the great start of the newborn baby goats, we expected to have lots of friends coming over. This month a lot has happened... First we had to finish the goat house to make a warm welcome for our goats. After the arrival of the goats we spend a full week on finishing the poly tunnel. It was a real winter month with a bit of snowfall. We are continuing building on the poly tunnel. A few days later we had a short trip back to the Netherlands to pick up a mini digger. Look at how much has changed in almost a year! We worked hard, but nature did as well and we are so grateful for that. Winter will come and the chickens walk free on the property now. Wat hebben jullie weer hard gewerkt! Zo'n betonnen vloertje mogen jullie bij mij ook komen maken. En dan tegelen. Was jullie gras al zo goed of hebben jullie zelf het land verbeterd? Bij mij staat heel veel ridderzuring, blijkbaar een teken dat de grond te zuur is. Moet kalk toevoegen, schijnt het. En dan? Komt er dan beter gras?

Great project you are doing. I am wondering why you planted gorse. Here in New Zealand it is a big problem as it is invasive and the seeds spread and grow everywhere. A lot of time and money is spent on tying to control it. But my goats used to eat it and as it is a nitrogen fixer it may have it's uses if controlled.
Thank you! Yes, we are aware of its invasiveness. We only planted a few on the border of our land, because we have a lot of wildlife that eat our young trees. The thorns keep the away. Here in France some of the farmers keep the gorse on their borders for the same reason and the cows and goats reduce the invasive ones. Also they are one of the first plants that blossom which gives a beautiful view early in the year (sometimes even in January).

First time viewer, my dad always put a pipe ( he used pvc) in the ground when planting trees. It was better for watering . I love the circle garden, I would plant sunflowers.
Ahh interesting! Was the pipe horizontal or vertical with the roots in the pipe? And yes sunflowers! 😍

Very cool. You guys are living the life, keep on going. Good luck with your projects. I am in similar boat like you guys, just bought 3,7 hectares property with traditional house. Wowzers! Wanneer je de geiten naar een volgende wei verplaatst, als je dan de kippen een paar dagen in die eerste wei laat lopen, dan pikken die door de geitenpoep heen en verspreiden die op een zodanige manier dat insecten en vogels er beter bij kunnen. Op die manier vergroot je het bereik van het ecosysteem.
