Thanks so much for your time on this. I wanted to share that I had the same paper feeder problem. I cleaned all my parts, I followed this video and moved the steel part down to provide enough pressure then later tried moving it up in case it was too tight for my paper feed. Ultimately, the power cable was not providing enough energy to the device. I used a slightly stronger cable, and it started feeding the paper. I encourage using the correct cable only.

My issue is that the wheels are spinning but I have to push the paper down for it to grab the paper

how did you get through to tech support . I can't see it find anyway other that some crappy chatting with the computer version of tech support. BTW great tip here!

Ya it's fine but still doesn't work

This solved my issue. I removed the piece that has the rubber flaps and metal piece and bent the metal piece a little bit so it would have a tighter contact with the rubber wheel.

Those three cartridge contacts are on a little fingernail-sized bit of plastic that pops out from the top of the cartridge case. A Brother dealer can order that little piece for you. I found one on Ebay.

I HAVE BROTHER MFC-6490CW, PROBLEM WAS IT WON'T DETECT BROTHER ORIGNAL BLACK INK AND ALWAYS GAVE ME ERROR INSERT CARTRIDGE SLOWLY, I TRIED ALL THE TRICKS MENTIONED ON TH-cam, I STARTED DISMENTALLING THE PRINTER (CAUTION: PLEASE DO NOT UNPLUG THE ORANGE INTERNAL MEMORY BACKUP BATTERY PART VARTA 3.6V 140 mAh JUST HANG THE TOP COVER IN LEFT SIDE AND SECURE WITH A TAPE) TAKING PICS AT EVERY STEP, WHAT I FOUND IN MY PRINTER THAT THE CAPPLIERY TUBE WHICH TRANSPORT INK TO PRINT HEAD WAS FILLED WITH AIR, THERE WAS AIR GAP, I GOT BLACK PIGMENT INK AND FILLED THE CAPPILIERY TUBE WITH BLACK INK, MOVE THE PRINT HEAD TO CENTER BY TURNING WHEEL GEAR LITTLE BIT AND TUG SOME PAPER TOWEL UNDER THE HEAD TO SUCK ANY INK GETTING DRAINED. AFTER DONE MOVE THE PRINTER HEAD TO ORIGINAL POSITION CAREFULLY ASSEMBLE THE PRINTER, (FOR RIBBON CONNECTORS USE THIN SLIPPERY PAPER ON CONTACTS SLIDE RIBBON CONNECTOR WITH PAPER ON TOP OF PINS ONCE RIBBON IS INSERTED PULL PAPER OUT)LCD DISPLAY WILL ASK TO INSERT CARTRIDGES ONE BY ONE AND DO SO, CONNECT THE PRINTER TO NETWORK, DO INITIAL SETUP, FIRST TRY TO PRINT A COPY THEN USE THE SCANNER, SCAN NEEDS NETWORK CONNECTED. SCANNER WILL SAY NO CONNECTION FOR THIS ERROR YOU NEED TO HOOK TO WIRELESS OR WIRED NETWORK, HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL, GOOD LUCK.

Was the perfect answer to my issue!!

This did not fix my paper jam problem, however, it did lead me to the fix. I opened and cleaned all contact points and wheels with alcohol prep swabs. Everything that come in contact with your scanned item. (NOT the reader bar) but the wheels and little silver pressure metal thing. Clean front and back and also on the wheels roll them around as to clean the complete wheel, not just the part you currently see. Hope this helps someone.
