Bay Area Judo Championships 2024 - PPV Livestream Mat 3 - Junior Girls Age 11 and 12 - 104 pounds
This is a sample of our PPV livestream for the 2024 Bay Area Judo Championships. Replays can be purchased for $10 (the minimum price allowed by smoothcomp) at the following link: smoothcomp.com/en/event/17616/schedule/matchlist
Search for the judoka you want to watch by name or club. A list of matches will come up. When you click "Watch" you will be prompted to buy.
PLEASE NOTE: this was our first year trying to livestream. We had some technical difficulties! There is no recording for Mat 4. Mat 1 has a few hours of footage, but there are graphics popping up constantly, making it very difficult to watch.
Mats 2 and 3 are good! At least for the first few hours. Unfortunately after 2-3 hours our recording conked out, so we don't have any adults recorded.
It was a fun experiment and we'll do better next year!

Juji Roll - Attacking the Turtle to Get the Armbar
มุมมอง 1849 หลายเดือนก่อน
Juji Roll is short for Juji Gatame, the cross body arm bar. This goes by many names - it also used to be called the Iaskevitch Roll after a player from the Soviet Union who was particularly good at it. You'll see this attempted many times in judo competitions since it is a relatively low risk move against someone who is turtled up. Visit our website at 510judo.com to request a free trial class ...

Judo Submission Grappling at the Bay Area Judo Championships
มุมมอง 56111 หลายเดือนก่อน
Judo Submission Grappling is an official ruleset of USA Judo which modifies current rules to favor a more complete style of grappling. The Bay Area Judo Championships was very pleased to host the first JSG matches in California in July 2023. We'll be having this division again in 2024! Rules: * numerical points instead of ippon and wazari * 4 points for a big throw that would normally be awarde...

Thanks man, I needed this!
Go for it!
Млять из-за титров нихрена не видно!!!!
Do you use kata guruma in randori/shiai? I've been able to get it to work as a surprise attack, but it's harder to build a game of it with the leg grab ban and all. Limits your options
Me personally no, but I know several people who do. There's one guy at our club who uses it as the centerpiece of his game combined with ko uchi and ippon seoinage. He's able to consistently throw guys much larger than him (50-75 pounds more!).
Congrats Milan! Thanks for posting
sure thing
Wow great job i really respect you milan! ❤
Studied Aikido for a year. Never got the hang of this. This is the first time i see it so clearly demonstrated! 🎉 Kudos. Will try it out this week at new judo dojo. PS the name of this is Ushiro Kaiten Ukemi.
Glad you like it, I hope it's helpful!
Is there a japanese name for this basic roll?
I'm sure there is but I don't know it🤷♂
It's not called yoko otoshi or yoko wakare. That's an uki waza because you are throwing your opponent forward. And yoko wakare is a different kind of sacrifice throw, generally with both of your feet together, not split apart like that
All those things you wrote are true
Thank you! Hajime
Glad you enjoy!
🎉
💪🏻😎🥋🥋🥋👍🏻🔥🔥🔥
I like your videos🎉😊
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Kids, practice both sides. And a tip that’s never mentioned: the foot that’s in front, and the opposite hand slaps
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Is this right or left-handed?
You can do it both ways!
How many days a week training would it take to get to black in 5 years How long would it take to achieve training 2 times a week
At our school, we have a guy that did it in just under 5 years practicing 3x per week. He's extremely consistent week in and week out. Twice a week, probably a little longer, maybe 6 or 7 years. It also depends on the quantity and quality of your training partners, if you compete or not and how often, and also just luck in not getting a freak injury. It can be done though!
@@510Judo at your school do u focus on just throws or is there some ground work taught to
@@Canecorso14 the mix is roughly 70% standing work and 30% ground work. Every judo school is different but I think our mix is typical.
Thanks! It helped!
Glad to hear it.
very helpful-thank you!!
Its like drop sesae right?
yup, very much!
I’m taking the leap this year to become a full time Judo coach and do it for a living. Can’t wait!
wow that's great! Best of luck. Do you mind if I ask where? What country and what area?
Judo is awesome.
Agreed!
level= zero ! ! !
🤔
I've done thousand of these, and other breakfalls as a kid taking judo. As an adult it's save my hide many times falling correctly.
So true! I've heard lots of stories of breakfalls saving people from serious damage in the bathroom, on the ice, even during motorcycle accidents.
Thanks man, helped me alot
excellent!
I just went to judo training yesterday. Gotta say I really couldn't do backroll because my spine and back are really like rocks and not flexible
Keep trying, you'll get it eventually!
@@510Judo thx! i'll do best to improve
@@lvoryI Just practice rocking back and forth. Roll in a light way that isn't stressful until your body adapts to the rolling movement. Rolling is something we do a ton as kids but many of us lose it from sedentary lifestyles as we get older. The habit's there, it's just a matter of getting the body adjusted to it again.
None of the 4 techniques presented in the video are kata-guruma. Techniques 1, 2 and 3 are variations of uki-waza as they use movement and the principle of sacrifice (sutemi). And technique 4 is seoi-otoshi.
Arguing about the proper names of throws is probably the most boring thing about judo, but thank you for commenting.
This is not a arguing. This is an observation. Those who don't care about this, teach it anyway and don't care about learning the art correctly. teaching wrong without research is a Judo is not a mess like BJJ where everyone invents a stupid name however they want. There is a reason for standardization so that anywhere in the world I can teach correctly regardless of the language.disservice to those who want to learn. @@510Judo
Let me guess, you also get excited about the uchimata vs. hane goshi debate. @@ricardokerscher
There is no need to debate something that is already clearly explained. @@510Judo
That's was a nice throw .
Very nice!
Yours feets had become black and the floor New .... Hhhhh
Hi from Burnaby, Sensai Nico! You caught me with your Ogoshi a few times! Congratulations on your victory!
goes to show that in judo you never stop learning. And also you can learn from everyone! 💪
Very true!!
I'm a kid I need this for judo class thx!
No problem, glad it was helpful
I just cant get that kick. Ive tried my friends pushing me and i wont just roll….
I may post a video about some alternate ways to get into this roll. In the meantime, keep practicing!
What if my back hurts?
Sorry I missed this comment until now! If your back hurts, talk to your doctor, or maybe a PT. There are so many possible reasons for your back to hurt, it would be irresponsible for me to give you specific advice without seeing you in person. I can say that generally speaking, most adults would greatly benefit from a strength and conditioning program overseen by a professional personal trainer. You can strengthen your low back!
Thank you, I just started and this helped me alot
Good, glad to hear it!
Usually the head shouldn't touch the floor, as far as I'm concerned you would normally tug your head more towards the side and roll over the shoulder because in Judo we only have shoulder rolls so you don't hurt your head or neck. Another thing is that usually in Judo we would have one leg in front of the other and do both sides of this ukemi seperately for exactly that reason, in case you fall with either one leg or the other in front, because that determines the shoulder you roll over But feel free to correct me
You definitely shouldn't touch your head to the floor in any of these rolls. Watching again I see that it looks like my head is touching. But it's just my hair. If you're going over your shoulder that's zenpo kaiten ukemi. We cover that in another video.
@510Judo oh okay I see, it just seemed like it because of somethingyou said at about 0:40, no disrespect tho, just wanted to make sure that no viewers get that wrong But it still seems different to usual Judo technique to me, since we usually tug our head more towards the side/shoulders so that we can actually roll over the shoulder and you seem to be rolling from a neutral position instead of having one foot further forward. Might just be a mistake on my part, but it just doesn't seem right to me, maybe because it's just as a basic exercise and from a lower position
@@pablau this is the one you're thinking of: th-cam.com/video/GajgsFZDF5U/w-d-xo.html A judo shoulder roll or rolling breakfall or whatever you want to call it. This is a different roll entirely.
@510Judo ah okay I see, thank you so much, it my dojo we do mostly that, thanks
Nice! Always fun practicing sacrifice throws. I always get launched with Tomoe Nage 😂 I like Yoko Wakare variation
LETS GO MAYO!!!
Thank you for including submission grappling. Throw. Pin. Submit = all dimensions of grappling covered
One thing about JSG is that osaekomi (pin) does not end the match. In that sense it's a little closer to bjj rules.
can you do uchi mata sukashi no gi
You mean in general can you do it in no gi, or is it allowed in the Judo Submission Grappling division? The JSG is in the gi, and yes uchimata sukashi is allowed, also sukui nage and te guruma
Yes In general can you do that no gi uchi mata counter in video it’s the last technique I need to do everything judo move
very helpful thanks!
Hi man
Wow. That’s very helpful. Thank you.
😄🤙🏻
I can’t kick myself over, I just fall to the side no matter how hard I try to kick…
Keep trying! You will get it eventually. Also as you continue judo training you will get stronger and more comfortable with being upside down. Start with the kneeling shoulder roll, this is much easier in the beginning
USA Judo does absolutely nothing for us aside from provide national level tournaments in obscure areas of the country. What good is that for our $70± annual? USJA basically doesn't exist in CA. USJF works hard to train their leaders and share information and throw many tournaments. If you read some of Mitchell's info... USA Judo left USJF/USJA without a word... Then posted to their site that they're leaving the agreement. Also, USJA/F still have an agreement together.
My intention is not to convince anyone to quit their organization. If you like USJF and it serves your interests, stick with it 👍🏻
This is awful. Lol
