Bay Area Judo Championships 2024 - PPV Livestream Mat 3 - Junior Girls Age 11 and 12 - 104 pounds
This is a sample of our PPV livestream for the 2024 Bay Area Judo Championships. Replays can be purchased for $10 (the minimum price allowed by smoothcomp) at the following link: smoothcomp.com/en/event/17616/schedule/matchlist
Search for the judoka you want to watch by name or club. A list of matches will come up. When you click "Watch" you will be prompted to buy.
PLEASE NOTE: this was our first year trying to livestream. We had some technical difficulties! There is no recording for Mat 4. Mat 1 has a few hours of footage, but there are graphics popping up constantly, making it very difficult to watch.
Mats 2 and 3 are good! At least for the first few hours. Unfortunately after 2-3 hours our recording conked out, so we don't have any adults recorded.
It was a fun experiment and we'll do better next year!

Juji Roll - Attacking the Turtle to Get the Armbar
มุมมอง 1849 หลายเดือนก่อน
Juji Roll is short for Juji Gatame, the cross body arm bar. This goes by many names - it also used to be called the Iaskevitch Roll after a player from the Soviet Union who was particularly good at it. You'll see this attempted many times in judo competitions since it is a relatively low risk move against someone who is turtled up. Visit our website at 510judo.com to request a free trial class ...

      Me personally no, but I know several people who do. There's one guy at our club who uses it as the centerpiece of his game combined with ko uchi and ippon seoinage. He's able to consistently throw guys much larger than him (50-75 pounds more!).

      At our school, we have a guy that did it in just under 5 years practicing 3x per week. He's extremely consistent week in and week out. Twice a week, probably a little longer, maybe 6 or 7 years. It also depends on the quantity and quality of your training partners, if you compete or not and how often, and also just luck in not getting a freak injury. It can be done though!

    Usually the head shouldn't touch the floor, as far as I'm concerned you would normally tug your head more towards the side and roll over the shoulder because in Judo we only have shoulder rolls so you don't hurt your head or neck. Another thing is that usually in Judo we would have one leg in front of the other and do both sides of this ukemi seperately for exactly that reason, in case you fall with either one leg or the other in front, because that determines the shoulder you roll over But feel free to correct me

    • @510Judo
      @510Judo ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely shouldn't touch your head to the floor in any of these rolls. Watching again I see that it looks like my head is touching. But it's just my hair. If you're going over your shoulder that's zenpo kaiten ukemi. We cover that in another video.

    • @pablau
      @pablau ปีที่แล้ว

      @510Judo oh okay I see, it just seemed like it because of somethingyou said at about 0:40, no disrespect tho, just wanted to make sure that no viewers get that wrong But it still seems different to usual Judo technique to me, since we usually tug our head more towards the side/shoulders so that we can actually roll over the shoulder and you seem to be rolling from a neutral position instead of having one foot further forward. Might just be a mistake on my part, but it just doesn't seem right to me, maybe because it's just as a basic exercise and from a lower position

    USA Judo does absolutely nothing for us aside from provide national level tournaments in obscure areas of the country. What good is that for our $70± annual? USJA basically doesn't exist in CA. USJF works hard to train their leaders and share information and throw many tournaments. If you read some of Mitchell's info... USA Judo left USJF/USJA without a word... Then posted to their site that they're leaving the agreement. Also, USJA/F still have an agreement together.
