Quick hello - back from the dark side of the moon...

After a looong break from creating videos, I've confronted my laziness and produced this Ozone paragliders featurette ;-) On a serious note: great to dust off those thermalling skills, and the next video won't be "eye candy only".

Conditions were right for ridge soaring once again - and the three Musketeers decided to make a game out of it: "how close can you get" ? Making the most of the gift that was given to us: an incredible weekend of sunshine and strong thermals (!)

Die Gruppe hatte entschieden: Slowenien sollte es sein. Da konnte ich nicht nein sagen, und für ein paar Tage die letzten guten Flugstunden 2021 "mitnehmen".

It was a stable, slow-and-low kind of day with zero wind until about 3pm, at which point the first brave nylon flyers attempted the seemingly impossible: to stay afloat in almost dead air. One Swedish HG pilot (Tommy) who had come for the Kobala Open managed to get up and away, but he took off an hour and a half before me; still, his "escape up" left me in awe. It was one of those rare-ish days at Emmi: magic air, a dramatic sky, vivid colours and smooth, rising air everywhere. Time to get stuck in and enjoy these wonderful moments together. The 360° camera angles don't do the distance between us any justice: at some point, I could have touched the PGs. Outstanding thermaling discipline and mutual spacial awareness.

I decided to take the path less trodden (or should I say less flown, certainly by hang gliders) and spend my summer holidays in the Balkans: Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia were all on the menu.
