Welcome to Powell County, Kentucky! Clay City, Stanton, Bowen, Slade, and several other unofficial towns make up the county. We are the home of the beautiful Natural Bridge State Park and a portion of the Red River Gorge. Our county also houses the Pilot Knob State Nature Preserve and the Wild and Scenic Red River.
Powell County has hundreds of miles of breathtaking hiking trails and climbing routes. The Red River Gorge is currently the #2 climbing destination in the world - next only to Utah. Kentucky’s only Wild and Scenic River welcomes you to canoe or kayak for miles along its’ beautiful routes. The outdoor adventures are endless!

RRG Farmers Market at Slade
The RRG Farmers Market is a seasonal market serving the Red River Gorge Geological Area and Natural Bridge State Resort Park in east-central Kentucky. From May through October, make RRGFM a part of your local commute or vacation travel plans and pick up a variety of items: vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, baked goods, herbal products, soaps, flowers, pottery, jewelry and more! i''m from Winchester, KY and the Gorge is my favorite place in the whole state! i love it so much, i go at least a couple of times every year. i hope everyone who visits KY can make it to the Gorge, it is truly a spectacular place! we're so lucky to have a place like the RRG, and just the whole state in general is beautiful, but the Gorge is special.
