Viola *Picasso* polygonal violin in the cubist style, /experiment/ Test 949

I saw a painting by Picasso, which depicts the details of a musical instrument in the cubist style: a bird's head with an eye, 4 strings, different angles of the body and flat soundboards of the musical instrument. From these parts I made a polygonal violin and called it Picasso. I also made a viola from scrap materials, body length 400 mm. Listen to Picasso's unique experimental polygonal viol...

Very cool!
why has this genius man got so few views!
Sounds good!
Genial. Congratulations...!!!
Addendum to previous comment. You know when A violin is in tune as the touch will vibrate like a goldfish in your fingers. It sizzles under your fingers ergo effervescent! But this only occurs when the instrument is perfectly in tune. The conditions must be right.
I am shocked! I would have thought a triangular violin extremely nasal. This just goes to prove that you can not judge a book by its cover. Im very impressed. On the other hand, Balaleicas were traditionally triangular. I think the biggest thing contributing to power and tone is strings that are in correct diameter and that they are stabilized in order that they don't slip. Each string reinforces its neighbor and the sum of all is dependant on the whole mass as it drives the bridge as it drives the belly as it drives the soundpost. If any string is off it sends a horrible eddy through the entire system. The sum of the whole is greater than any one or two or three strings. It is a primitive transducer capable of near infinite signal generation. It's the same with certain old christmas tree lights. If one goes out the rest will also. That's why each string must.be incredibly in tune and unable to slip or the instrument will sound off. You know when a violin is in tune because it will sing.c.c.e.5 9 24

Ficou parecido com "rabeca brasileira"
Wow it's beautiful sound
Good sound!
Sounds surprisingly good.
It certainly sounds just as rich and full as a 'normally' shaped instrument. Perhaps the normal shape is constructed to be more pleasing to the eye, than to the ear.
as far as the quality and range that the microphone can pick up
@@agustinsida8877 Yes true, however in the early 19th century the French scientist Felix Savar developed a Trapazodial violin which was aclaimed by the Paris Academy which they no doubt heard live.
Tears ...
:) :) Let me put it this way ;) I (as a musician) know violinists who pay up to ten thousand US dollars for a bow! I have seen violinists undergo (on YT) blind tests, expensive/cheap violin. Didn't work so well if you wanted to prove expensive = 'better'. Of course expectations and psychology come into play, even for (conscious) me. It seemed to 'lose' a bit in the higher register, but that's a marginal note. In the hands a master (no criticism of the builder) I think it would pass a blind test. was amazing. I will build!
Wonderfully crafted. Wonderful sound!
💖🌼
it does sound nicely
I love that you're able to get someone to play, or demonstrate your instruments. I would also appreciate more details about the types of wood, and the sources of your inspiration to build the instruments (where the pictures are from, the time period, who and where they might've been played). Also, please continue to play them yourself in the build videos. I know you said, or wrote, that you're not a violin player but your taste in music comes across in your playing and it's so nice to hear a different point of view (the type of music from other countries or cultures). Thanks again for your love of historical instruments and showing that beautiful music can come from instruments that I might be able to make myself (I listen religiously, but don't play at all).
wow, the horse tail string sounds very rich by comparison
Thanks for posting! Are the screws on the belly (front plate) for decoration only?
Great sound, grat playing ,thank you for sharing what is the wood used for top and bottom. Best regards😊
Amazing! It sounds great. Certainly better than my first "ordinary" violin.
You are a Geeeeenius❣️🎉🤯🎻
Thank you. A very pleasing sound. I imagine that the strings would have to be treated gently.
what would they have used for strings? Tanned sheep/pig intestines?

To my ears...you have proved your case! So beautiful.
I made fiddle from whole log recently. How can I send pictures and sound of it for your comments to improve it?
You can post the photo and sound of your violin on your TH-cam channel, but I don’t fully understand what you want from me.
@@Komist1 I recently posted one shorts video on my channel. I played Polyushka Polye on it. I just have about 1 month of experience with arched instrument.
Nice!
Beautiful! I like the rough tree-log shaped violin.
This is great!
¡Magnífico! Saludos desde España.
¡Bravo!
I'll have to try this.
Lovely sound: often wondered about the archeo-origins of this will check out your other video too
Belíssimo!❤
Tem bom som sim. Melhor que muitos de fábrica. Muito bom mesmo!
