Thats a beautiful lantern ❤
@@doinsngoins Thanks Steve. I bought another one, I got a good deal on it. I really like the 1920’s lanterns, both the lanterns and lamps from that era are works of art. I scrapped the heater project, I couldn’t keep the generator hot.
Well done
Good to see you're making progress, if you haven't seen or heard of a Tilley infrared heater, they ran on kerosene or paraffin and had a reflector and a single mental mantle. Very similar to the Coleman heater you are modeling your project after. Check them out if you get a chance. Good luck with the project. Thanks

It seems like the problem is with the jet Sir🙏
@@RongsokTua2557 I think I will clean the jet and generator in the Ultrasonic cleaner and try a different generator to see if any difference.
@geneandrew1269 ok, I agre sir.. usually the fire that comes out like that is because the nozzle there's no harm in trying, hopefully it Will light up smoothly and make a crisp sound 😊🙏
@ Thanks Buddy, I got it in the ultrasonic cleaner with some detergent and citric acid. We will try it tonight. God Bless

Beautiful Gene
@@doinsngoins Thanks Steve, I’m jealous of your antique water heater you converted to a Coleman stove, lol. That’s quite a sausage cooking machine. Looking forward to a coffee challenge on that mighty blue flame cooking machine. God Bless
I am wondering, what is the necessity for a preheat? Does this early model require such things? I've got one from the early 1940s that I liked the same way I'd like any Coleman lantern. What I'm asking is, how is this device advantageous?
@@reubenj.cogburn8546 the pre heat cup heats up the gas generator so the fuel will vaporize and not cause a flare up when it’s cold. Old Coleman’s are not like newer ones that have a more advanced fuel tube that takes the fuel saturated air above the liquid fuel in the fount and use it for the initial lighting of the lantern when it’s cold. Normally I just light my lanterns with a propane torch and heat up the generator a bit no matter if it’s a new or old lantern, lol. God Bless
@geneandrew1269 well, thank you very much. The internet may end up being the end of humanity, but today I learned something.🙂
I have failed thus far. Worst r55 in my pile is now even worse. Tip swaps fine cant get the generator apart past that. Tried to remove tip cleaner assembly got the packing nut unscrewed now tip lever won't come out or reconnect with needle. Will continue with r55 destruction when i can. If you were closer you could tear up this one. So my thought for now is change that tip if needed but easy does it with the lever removal! Don't risk a proven r55. Now where's that coffee.
Oh tailgate safety meeting time, safety protocol in place for working with asbestos! I bet that old Coleman r55 doesn't have any cardboard inside. Don't forget to sign your job hazard analysis kids... NOW😅 LETS Do THIS
@@tedboots2785 Ted, there’s no cardboard tube in the R55. It’s got a spring in there. Though some packing would be helpful. God Bless
Steve said my phone isn't making sense sorry for waisting your time. I been waiting for you to tell me to get lost. Good luck
Update brother gene I'm working to conferm your plan B if your427 won't settle down. A 200a tip will thread right on your r55 but if it's the same mod as for the 200 and 220 genny you will need to remove card board tube or asbestos part . Almost forgot the part about running modified Gen's with tip cleaner and spring only! Dont know if you can gut an r55 ? Yet... I'll get on it right now. If so we could lightup both our Quick Lites today. I bought a small lot of old generators off ebay for 11.90 US. Had enough junk to assemble one q99, works with two wood matches together. Look friend no torch to heat genny. All caps please... Before instant light !!! Don't try the matches with that r55! Volcano . If you crack open the fuel valve before that genny is hot you will have a flame thrower. Not very useful. You didn't over fill that primer cup. The instructions for the 639c state fill that little cup and let her burn two minutes minimum. If im wrong about anything please correct me im no expert but i have watched a number of youtube videos. Now back to the lab and see about gutting and modifying the new for 1930. r55 Generator. I have two plugged now waiting on deck. I know how basically just not specificly ... Yet . Unless my headache gets worse i should have an answer before you have the coffee on...
Hope you can join me someday for coffee. Good times , good fellowship. I appreciate your work thank you.
False alarm on the holed hasag globe 12cm ×12cm is not 220 size. I dug back 25 pages on ebay watch list can't find a parts lot that had a Coleman box marked r55 g and another box marked r55k . hope im wrong. If my brain is right you will need to use tip from a 200a on that double burner 427 to run k. Place your bets ladies and gentlemen. Please test outside if this old girl burns your house down your wife will kill us.😮
Don't get me wrong you and Steve are big dogs on the block i can't compete with any one . I'm to poor to pay attention! Talk about a handycap. But i do have some good stuff to share and alot to learn for a little while. For now gout boy signing off. You can also call me little trout. I'll just keep swimming upstream till i cant no more.😅
Can we drill a hole in a Pyrex globe??? Humphrey gas light camp lite Did. fit the 200 a perfect. Later paulin propane products bought out Humphrey and made the old stock last as long as they could. When they ordered holed globes from pyrex they had their name with fancy frosted bands around the holed globe. And again fit the 200 Coleman perfect. I would love to share a gallery of goodness in old camp equipment. Once i get my new phone working . For now i got error something or other and system failure. I only fix stuff that rusts. I have to draw the line somewhere. Im not capable of fixing everything...
Sweet Jesus take the wheel, i been down with gout off an on two months now couldn't stand pain so teddy jumped on the big pharma train of no pain. Prednisone loaded. There's people that need speed to live. Not me i chose sober 35 years now. So i am waiting patiently for r55 fuel change report. You can take a 200a tip and run a 220 on kero. You need a 201 tip to run a 200 on kero. Dont forget your pre heat cup and your fuel label! After you are burning kerosene successfully head on down to your favorite airport with a proper container and try to convince the attendant that selling you a few gallons of JET is not an unusual request. Last I checked jet a is less than six bucks per gal. In ski high California. Be sure to up grade your fuel label (jet a only) It is super kleen. What could be better on a hundred year old generator? I won't be far brother. Glad for small sites that you can get real without bots and trolls ect.
Ok Gene you are cut from the same material, your answering my questions before I can ask? ? ? I have a 327 ql 4-10 q99,and r55. It seems the difference in fuel would demand orifice change? I want to go back to the r55 soon to test mom's birthday lantern on kerosene will be standing by. I want to share my experience with a brand new 639c. Only new Coleman I ever had came from etsy 89.95 right out the box during covid. No alcohol for teds new Coleman k burner bummer dude. The people at Walgreens laughed at me when i asked for 91 rubbing alcohol. Same all over town went home and found a small bottle of rum 151! Score for the home team. My health. Isn't good enough for one drink. Mom said the devils drink ain't good for anything. This 639c plugged up at 1/2 gal of the wrong kero. It burned yellow before fouling. Tried Bills method for saving generators, remove tip heat and quench repeat. Bill the Canadian Coleman king. Worked perfect. Assembled with different type of kero that had a pic. Of a lantern on it score!!! Super Bright now burned two gal.since no problem except its so intence my wifes eyes go into migraine instantly... One more thought i want to share is hasag has made 220 size globes in the past and now a ebay seller has new repop with lighting hole . Not cheap but that liteing hole would be slicker than greased owl poop on a QL. IMHO like MacDonalds I'm loving your content. You can't kick me out of here theres too much left to see... Thank you sir and. May god bless you and yours .

Wow, more awesome ness! My 327 ql 4-10 doesnt look this good yet. Bought from ebay because its my moms birthday lantern. Looked terrible out of box with huge chunks of rust in font, bent rusted burner cage and bail no mica , vent bent. Faught the old girl two days. Worked perfect first try. Old plane globe looks real happy now in new digs. Want to cut a lighting hole in heat resistant globe, possible? Have both q99 and r55 gens. Like to have hand air pump and Mica shade someday! Glad to hear your review on japan repop mica is positive.
Like Vana White Beautiful This is on my wish list. Will show this blue ribbon project to the wife shortly. Need to know more about fuel delivery for your picnic stove ? Want to run my 5101 birdcage soon. Saving my little fuel cans for dust collection. Remember the army navy in Red Bluff had a sale on the Coleman nipple top cans about 1973. Two pallets blocking the entrance. Sign said six pack 6oz. Fuel cans close out price 4.95 people were tripping to get to their shopping. I believe those little card board boxes of fuel cans are now about two hundred dollars on ebay last I checked. Like this content very much. I appreciate your work. I'll try to not get in the way whilst playing catch-up.

What’s a fog test. It’s pulling too much air through the fuel tube. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Buddy, God Bless and have a great Wednesday!
Gene what about taking the fuel tube needle out and or plugging the air hole and running it like a kerosene conversion but run white gas. Just pre the gen and see what happens. Or have ya tried already
