We left early in the morning in our 14-year-old Jeep with a loose plan and travel gear. We knocked out 900 miles on day one. Hiking, camping, eclectic little towns, abandoned buildings and embarrassing moments was just the start in episode 1. Watch as it only gets better as the miles rack up. Come along with us and see where the road less traveled leads.

Sorry for the lack of content for the last few months. Julie and I bought a home, and it needed some work. We have a nice little HQ now. This vlog was made in Sept. Our good friends Pat and Pam rolled out the red carpet when we visited them in Nebraska. We were not expecting to be so impressed. The food was awesome. The people were engaging and nice. The scenery and history are inspiring. Join ...

Join us as we travel to a small town with a name as hard to say as it is to find. Our guide Scotty, is a life long friend with a colorful accent and a wealth of knowledge about one of Florida's greatest and least known treasures. We wanted to tour a bee apiary that produces some of the finest Tupelo Honey in the world.... Unfortunately they we closed. Maybe next time.

A broken toe and severe food poisoning weren't enough to keep us off the trail. Julie broken her little toe the day before we left and I got food poisoning Tuesday on our second full day in South Dakota from some suspect ribs. After 3 days of sever illness we hit the trail. Banged up, battered and bruised, but determined .

What time of year was this filmed ?
It was early May and still cold. We even got a snow flurry or two. Being from Florida we loved the change. Thanks for watching!!!
@@weekendnomads7160 Thank your for taking the time to respond. In that case we will be prepared to layer up. We are very excited to see all the sites in this area

If ya take that black clothing off you would be cooler!
Great video! Which ramp is that? We’ve got a place in St. Joe. I’ve been wanting to explore Wewa and the Dead Lakes for years.
Its at a campground just north of wewa towards Blountstown. You turn right off of 22. I'm sure someone in town could point you there easily. Its worth going! Its an amazing place right under our feet. Thank you for watching and commenting! Freddie n Julie
damn, thought we had cross country bad down in florida with all the beach sand!
From what i have researched and my family has told me the dead lakes are called water eyes named by my ancestors the Seminole Indians.
There are two sets of lakes in and around Wewa that are side by side. I actually grew up between one pair. Lake Alice and lake Julia (I think that is correct) are where the name comes from.. water eyes or Wewahitchka. Your family was right about the town name but its not referring to the Dead lakes but these lakes that sit next to one another like eyes. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Hey guys.... it's your neighbors on the front of that pirate float.
Haha cool! Can't wait for Mardi Gras! Throw some cool beads our Way!!!
LOVE ME A BIG PILE OF MASHED POTATOES!!!!
Enjoyed the video. Just a few suggestions: Clyde May's instead of Jim Beam, and Conecuh instead of Jimmy Dean. Now your all set.
Thank you for watching and will definitely try the whiskey! Sausage. Is harder since it seems more localized but if we see it I will grab some!
@@weekendnomads7160 I didn't realize that y'all weren't from AL, so you're right, the sausage is more regional and probably not available. It's really good. New subscriber and looking forward to more videos. Safe travels
@@nomo9344no worries... we r from PC Fl otherwise known as lower Alabama haha. Dont give up on us between vlogs. We vlog when we can. Both working grand parents. Thanks again for the comments and sub!
@@weekendnomads7160 Yeah man, you're right. PC and LA are one in the same! I appreciate anyone who travels like y'all and takes the time to share with the world, especially while you still work and have grand kids. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos. By the way, I'm from Central AL...and spent much time at PC "back in the day." Safe travels.
Enjoyed your video! We visited the area a few months ago and loved it.
We want to go back. There is so much more to see in Utah. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! ❤ PS we subscribed to your channel and can't wait to watch.
Cujo was a massively, unholy St. Bernard, I think, Great video and she was a beautiful dog!
You were almost there in the Cemetery
Can't wait to go back in two months
Awesome footage. Expected to see Indians on horseback in the distance
What'up,you shareed super content! 🤟
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you!
I love this place and swimming at devil's den at the bottom!
We had a great time there. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Loved your tour of 30A! Sure looked like fun, especially the crawfish boil!!
Thank you! We love it there but the rest of the country has discovered it too.. very busy now. Thank you so much for watching!!!
Thanks. My grandfather had a cabin on Dead Lakes, so went there often when I was a kid (in the 1960s). Some of my best memories are there. It looks much like it did when I was a child. I can’t believe my parents used to let me and my three siblings go out in a boat and fish alone for hours, catching bream, shell cracker, and catfish. One thing I remember is the frogs croaking at night; it was almost deafening they were so loud.
I have similar memories growing up there. It is a very special place. Thank you for watching. I wish they would designate it as a state park and protect it from development.
Like Pine Mountain ,My Wife and I Favorite Place Warm Springs Ga ,over The Mountain , We Spent our Honeymoon Warm Springs 47 years Ago , like your videos 🎶🎼😊💞
Thank you so much for the kind words and watching. We will come back there. We had no idea about pine mountain even though we are only four hours away. I think if more floridians knew how close this is they would visit. Then again, maybe we need to keep it a secret haha.
Very enjoyable!
Great Job Guys!!! Looks like a Blast!!!
Love the PMT! Have you hiked/backpacked the entire trail? That is the way to go especially during the cooler months. Now following!
Hey we were so happy to see u hit a 1000 subs! We arent " through hikers". We do portions of trails as day hikes. We want to do through hikes but we don't have the equipment or the time yet. We just got back from AZ and posted a vlog of our first hike there. We do watch and keep up! Thanks for watching and following.
@@weekendnomads7160 Anytime my friend! When you head back to the PMT, let me know. My buddy Senior Hiker 77 is always out there every weekend and loves to meet fellow TH-camrs! Thank you for the support over the years and glad to see you enjoying one of the best kept trails in GA! Keep up the videos!
@@MetroOnTheMove We will get in touch when we head north!
christopher walken!
If you vote yes on this May 24, 2022 State Parks amendment , are you just giving/handing over 85 MILLION dollars to Montgomery politicians, to do with it as they will?? The poor state parks, will they get, maybe 1 million of it, and the rest of the money go to other things?? Be smart!! Do not be deceived!!!
If you go back to Cedar Key and want a great place to eat go to Annie’s and get their Soft-Shell Crab sandwich. It’s the best and very unique. We have been there quite a few times now and stat at the Cedar Key B & B.
That sounds like a really good reason to go back!
It’s great to “see” you guys!!!
Thank you so much for watching!
