Heat race 8/31/24
One side effect of qualifying better than usual: I started a bit further forward than I may have belonged. That situation unfortunately resolved itself quickly in this 9 lap heat race

A decent start for a change, but a couple cars got by and I spent the rest of the race chasing them. Missed a full course yellow in turn 10 and nearly hit the rapidly-slowing car in front as a result.

The sprint / heat race for the weekend. Lots of dueling in front of me, and behind me. Not much for me - but I stayed out of trouble.

I tried to be smart and avoid getting into a race, backing off to get some clean laps. I could have used one more lap though!

Colder... windier... longer... I was being stalked most of the race but that's not visible in the video so it doesn't look as stressful as it felt.

My best race of the year! The weekend started a bit rough, with a slow motion rollover that left me hanging upside-down for ~6 minutes (that felt longer!) during the first practice. Yay! A pass on track! I had a serious tire advantage, but still... that felt good. Lots of other action and incidents that I was able to avoid = "Hard Charger" award for moving up 7 spots.

What a race! It was 95 degrees, and the longest race I've been in. The drink cart never came around, either... Lots of action here, dodging other cars, going off track (slightly) a couple times, dueling with more than a few cars and not making a total embarrassment of myself. Fun!

Now we're talking! A rock took out the camera lens at the start, but what a race. Unexpected rain created some excitement. Sadly I lost 4th gear near the end or I would have finished 5th. 1- Practice... and an unpleasant surprise
14:03 - I see an opportunity in the wet and make it work! That's a first for me. It doesn't really stick though. 19:38 - The start of a 2-car pass (sorry for the video jump... camera does that sometimes). That felt good. This was the beginning of the series where I didn't realize the yellow was no longer out in turn 1 - the driver had abandoned the stricken car. At least twice I backed off while next to cars when I didn't need to... lesson learned. 21:30 - I pass him "for good" and start chasing the next car up the road. Great chase ensues, including another unnecessary back-off in turn 1. 29:04 - 4th gear decides it's had enough of me. I try a few more times, but it's really done. I start revving the hell out of 3rd and shifting to 5th, but end up sliding backwards and lose one of those hard-fought passes before the checker :(
Absolutely nothing that you could have done to prevent that. Red car dropped a tire on the left side on entry and that was enough dirt to make him spin. And you had nowhere to go.
Thanks Greg! You're too kind - I should have jumped on the brakes... that may have kept it off the wall. And I probably shouldn't drive that close to anyone during a practice.
I've got to find a way to keep those arm restraints from slipping down my arms... it's super distracting to have to mess with them on the front straight.
