Everything very green now l remember the dark dreary buildings clothing manufacturing my mother had a friend lived there all two and two down row houses like my grand in salford Steve what happened to the hippodrome remember going there a lot everyone played there and the pantomimes at holiday time

I went to Plymouth grove girls school 52/55 there was row of houses just before school reverends wife used to doa house wifely course for the school girls would spend 6 weeks learning how to take care of house cook clean etc was fun

The house next to adds number 44 l was born there in 1940 this is first time seen it one a video thank you l have seen on google so many houses taken down for asda beautiful gardens my father grew all kinds of fruit and vegetables in our garden great neighbors we had remember coronation we had a huge party out front on embankment and all children went into the one house that had tv and watched coronation wonderful childhood there Thank You so much

Well l was born on kirkmanshulme lane on the embankment across from Longsight station approach the house is still there I’ve googled it but l didn’t see it on your drive very disappointed

We used to go in 40sand 50s early Sunday morning you could listen to all the people standing on their soap boxes giving their opinion of what was going on in the world used to like to go in museum look at the clothing display my brother played soccer there on weekends went with my children in 1970 on a trip back to England they had pony rides never saw that before they used to have a lake to sail small model boats and a lake for kids to wade in and the big lake you could rent rowboats

I was born on kirkmanshulme lane in 1940 there is nothing like could recognize there it looks like a foreign country nothing to go back to Britain to see

Try centralising your dashcam, to show the opposite lane and oncoming vehicle. The way it is would be useless as evidence in the event of a collision.

I once lived in this area appx 63 years ago. What i liked about above Plymouth Grove, in those days was the Trees in Plymouth Grove, im happy seeing them still there. The building on corner of Shakespeare Street and Plymouth Grove ( Pub ) was there in Those days + School Clinic, was in Shakespeare Street. Unfortunately for me everything else unrecognisable ( completely changed since my time, apart from Church, left-hand side ) Anyway, Peace to all !!

I grew up near the midway pub, it’s sad to see the state of the place now, it’s like a third world country.

Mine too thou it was knocked down long since opposite St Cross church. Lovely blast down memory lane. Thankyou.

Came across this site by chance. I've lived in South England, for past 50 years. I lived on stockport Road, Longsight, Manchester, in 1945, I was kid at that time. We lived next to Longsight Library ( I noticed on this Video, Library, Building still there ) my parents home no longer there, modern homes there now. The area completely unrecognisable. Sorry for being boringly nostalgic. Peace to all

Going along Hyde road from ardwick green we are approaching what once was kwik safe supermarket and now is a storage place, then staying on the left hand side you will see what was known as guest houses and was called Normans guest house, then still staying on the left hand side you had Lancashire Eccles cakes and I think it’s still trading until today but don’t quote me on that, then still staying on the left hand side you had a school just before Devonshire street where I once worked, then still staying on the left hand side you will see Hyde road bus depot, but you can’t see the right hand side the houses once stood Coverdale crescent lots of maisonettes my grandmother lived in them in the late 70s and early 80s she called them a Lego set lol 😂 she made me laugh 😂 my grandmother but I thought they were ok when I would visit her, anyway staying on the left hand side you will approaching another school called armitage school, moving along breifly on the right hand side you have BOC car showroom then staying on the right hand side you have redgate lane, then you will soon be approaching B&M on the left hand side, but many years ago facing B&M on the right hand side was the entrance to the famous belle vue amusement and zoo park, then moving along again on the left hand side was a pub called the Cheshire hunt pub now a takeaway and next to the pub is gorton park but facing gorton park was belle vue Granada bowling alley then it became a bingo hall, then moving along again staying on the right hand side is a hotel called the diamond lodge hotel and that was once the Lake hotel, I’ve gave you breifly a story of GORTON thank you 🙏 for reading my comment

I remember getting the 203 bus from Stockport to gorton and that road seems to go on forever!

Gorton as changed so much i remember gorton outside market and pioneer supermarket and kwik safe on garratt way (now aldi) and you just drove past where i once lived as a kid off redgate lane i remember belle vue Amusement park so sad when it was demolished

I miss the old outdoors gorton market! I was born and bred in gorton and a lot as changed over the years so sad really because we had good old belle vue amusement and zoo park and belle vue greyhound racing track and now that’s gone!

I remember weatherspoons pub on Stockport road! And going back to the late 80s and early 90s kwik safe supermarket facing the market is greggs still there on Stockport road? I remember gabbots farm the butcher’s next door to greggs they sold some lovely cooked chickens and lovely meat I’ve not been to longsight market for 10 years gosh the memories have come flooding back!

Shagged a few birds from reddish back in the day. Quick finger behind the union and then back to my flat on gorton road above a curry house. Great days. Living in brinny now with my current missus.

Manchester city is the better team in England...united is old and trashford like their stadium and their stupid team and ugly hooligan brainless fans

I used to work on Oxford rd across from the newspaper building like so many other places in Manchester l don’t recognize anything on the streets but it does stir up memories I’m still waiting for you to show houses on embankment next to bridge across from old Longsight station approach on kirky lane l Ives in end house 44 next to driveway to the market Thanks for all the memories don’t get them this good on google
