She has had a many-splendoured, prolific career since, later also becoming the first Vice Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Dance University. Gayathri is lauded for her fidelity to tradition and exquisite tone in her playing.

Great thoughts! One point about less women in mridangam is the maintenance ecosystem is very complex. I don't mean that it's not possible but it's very difficult. Yes, it will be great to see a lady rocking this male dominated space with pure music. Smt Dandamudi Sumati is a living example for many.
