Marking Queen Bee From Swarm

Caught this swarm 4 days ago and wanted to find the Queen and mark her.
First Swarm in Swarm Trap
มุมมอง 40K5 ปีที่แล้ว
My first Swarm catch with 5 Gal Bucket Swarm trap. Transfering to a Nuc box
May as well said Candyman 5 times in a mirror with that method of transfer. They got pissed. Lol. But--still cool you got the job done.
Wish i knew why bees love buckets so much
It was baited with a frame of brood comb. I don’t use buckets anymore though.
looks like bees prefer foundationless frames over plastic... so neat
It's all good
Bucket trap? Looked very problematic, and stressful for the bees. I’d recommend doing a bit of research and make a trap from a deep brood box. Make your own simple bottom box about 3” deep with an entrance hole, a plywood top screwed on, and add your frames. Once you have a swarm, place your brood box onto your typical bottom board and finish it with your outer cover of choice. Super simple and inexpensive to make. 😊
Actually bucket traps are the most simple and money saving swarm traps out there. They are traps for a reason its not like your leaving them in there for half a year. I use buckets and yhe bees love going into them.
2 yrs ago 3 videos, still doing the bee thing? Hope everything’s going great, let us know, take care & god bless
Still obsessed with bees. I just don’t do videos. Might get into them eventually. Can follow progress @burleybeeyard
Far this year I caught 18 swarms in my Swan traps bucket swarm traps all the videos are on my channel try it in TV

How much did you catch in buckets traps for 2022
I quit using buckets for the most part. I just use deep boxes now. No swarms for me so far this spring.
Helloooo? Where did you go?
I mainly do FB and Instagram stories with pics. Have a hard time finding time for videos.
You left that trap way too long betwen visits. :)
Yeah, first I saw the comb he pulled up, then I saw capped brood on it, lol......But hey, I'm glad I never made any videos of my first few years of bee mistakes and disasters....live and learn and have fun....
Any trap that works is nice…but! I like deeps with a few frames too. Lemongrass is a good lure along with a frame of old brood comb and some empty frames for them to start building comb.
Great video! Do you guys still make videos?
Was thinking of doing some short ones. I’ve recently started a Facebook and Instagram page for pictures if you’d like to check those out. I’ll be posting more pics as the spring ramps up. @burleybeeyard
Man now that's a pretty slick idea. First time I've seen a 5 gallon bucket trap.
Варвар!!
what is the mesh size?
Pretty sure that’s 1/4. Really don’t need the mesh.
@@burleybeeyard Thank you
Way to go!
What did you bait it with ?
Lemongrass oil on a cotton ball and placed in a ziplock bag. As well as the old drawn brood comb frame. It’s a really easy cheap trap, but I now prefer Nucs and deeps to trap.
Yo feeder just changed the game for me! #1 4 LIFE #paintcanfeeder
Subbed
Outstanding! Texas boy?
Mississippi. Grew up in South Arkansas.
You need to frame that comb
Too bad you couldn't have used empty frames/rubber bands and given them some of the beautiful work they had already created. Cool looking swarm collector.
That was the plan but it backfired at the time.
That's not the same bucket lol
Now you know why it's not a good idea to make a 5 gallon bucket a swarm trap if it was me i would use a deep brood box with frames as a swarm trap
I only run 1 bucket now. I use deeps now.
So, did you find the queen?? LoL! That was awesome. Like your bucket setup.
Not that day, but did eventually.
That was what you left from the first one
That's one way to do it bubba
Hai 👍👍👍
Amazing
is that frame custom built to fit or does a traditional Frame fit in the bucket? cool video
Took a deep frame of drawn comb and cut in half. Stapled piece of wood to side that was cut. Cheap swarm trap
Great video
Hi, I'm a new follower here. Please stop by my videos 😊👍
wild bees so lucky!! we have two swarm traps up right now but so far no action
Damn that's a lot of comb
Hadn’t checked it in 2 weeks. Either they got there the next day or are just strong workers.
@@burleybeeyard so it took two weeks from when you put it out until this video???
Joshua Kretzer I had left this trap out for 2 weeks without checking it. Did the video the same day. Surprised you found it. Have gotten away from making videos.
