At least one or two questions in each vignette of the Practice Questions of the CFA Institute's Learning Ecosystem has clear as day word trickery and ambiguity to make the questions unanswerable. And they rate these questions "Expert" level difficulty. What kind of scam is this...why not just give real difficult questions with only one option being correct without any ambiguity. Might as well just say on the exam day in the instructions, no matter what you score, we will take it as 80 cents on the dollar!
One of the key things during your practice question review is to learn the common ways CFAI tends to create uncertainty in questions and then make a mental note how to answer those setups when you encounter them on exam day. But the good news is that the actual exam questions tend to be fairly straightforward if you have put the study time in. The Level 3 exam is peer reviewed by charterholders also, so if a question seems extremely vague after the fact it is possible that it will be set aside. But the important thing is to not be in a situation where the question appears vague to you, but 80% of the other candidates got it correct.
@@ChalkBoardCFAPrep Thank you very much, that makes total sense. That is why just reading prep notes and not the curriculum "word by word" can be devastating. I have experienced this many times, unless you read the curriculum in-depth, you just cannot answer actual exam questions- especially when you have to write answers than just guess one of the three options.
@@mohangg3522 If you're interested in good preparation for how Level 3 questions can be asked, feel free to check out our Level 3 mocks and consider adding the mock bundle. We cover the whole range of topic areas and try to make the questions as relevant as possible. They are set as constructed response questions but they apply to the multiple choice questions also. Candidates often tell us they helped avoid tricks on exam day, hopefully this will be the case for February Level 3 candidates as well.
@@ChalkBoardCFAPrep I checked it out, but you don't have the Private Markets Pathway mock exams at the moment.

I bought the level 2 2024 books. Is there a huge difference between level 2024 and 2024 books? I also plan to do a few thousand practice questions and 6-8 mock exams for the August test.
Good luck - there should be minimal difference between 2024 and 2025. However if you'd like additional mocks or explanatory materials to pass confidently, feel free to check out our Level 2 materials which are specifically designed to help candidates pass the first time: chalkandboard.org/cfa/level2/2025/
Hey Nate, I'm taking the exam on February. I got one month left of study, anything I can do to make the most of this last sprint?

I found you and your videos too late. I only got one month until exam date.
Same :(
What are your mock scores, and what are you doing now?
@@nemanmammadli 79% in mock scores, I'm doing a mock per week until Feb 22, then I review all the wrong answers and the correct answers but low confidence. I'm also reviewing the modules where I make the most mistakes but I try to keep my focus on the heavier topics as FSA, Fixed Income and Equity. For Ethics I'm reading the Standards Handbook for 1hr every night.
@@BSGT1293 Don't defer now your mock scores are good enough
Hey Nathan, I have my exams in Feb'2025, and have finished my entire reading once, I am revising righ now, Can you maybe prepare a video on how to revise for CFA Level 3? I think no one is really talking about it and I am finding it really hard to revise given how little time I have.
In your position I would do our L3 C&B mocks with my personal grading and feedback. It is the best revision you can do at this point to build confidence and ensure you give graders what they’re looking for. Also - please take a look at our Level 3 video playlist here on this channel, where I have a couple videos on L3 approaches and strategy. I barely failed the exam and now I’m torn between signing up for May or November. I feel the information is still somewhat fresh and registering for November may lead to the info becoming stale if I don’t start working through it

@@TOP10HUB_I’m leaning towards it. Going to do some questions this weekend and see what comes back. If I’m not feeling good about it I will likely go for August. Just sucks to study during summer
@@jackpeters1598 I'm honestly scared to give it so quickly again. Didn't clear L2 Nov 24. My score was sticking very close to MPS but did not pass. I'll mostly try next Nov. Have a hectic job too :(
Is it really such a bold move to go for May? I read the entire curriculum except for 70-80% of Fixed Income, Economics, and Derivatives. And of course, those were my lower scores together with Ethics. The rest were really quite high scores, well above 70%

the problem is everyone keeps referring to them as "Essays" --> people associate "essay" with big responses. They are just written responses (Can be a few dot points) but you be concise and precise and not giving the markers information that they already know.
Yes the more concise and accurate the answer is, the better!
Do you just jump to writing the answer/explanation, or is it better to start all responses with a formal declaration: “The answer is (……)” and then provide the explanation if needed.
@@Robert_Marks You can skip writing anything superfluous such as "the answer is" - the graders know you're writing the answer so you can skip to the important parts.

what are important topics as i am going to give exam in august 2025 for cfa l1
The topics are all important to be honest. You can check CFAI's website for the topic area weights for your exam, but the difference between a pass and a fail can often occur on the lower weighted topics. So the best approach is to treat all the topics as important. If you'd like professional structure and guidance, feel free to join Nathan as our student if you wish. Have a great day!
Hello Nathan, I failed my L1 exam. The question I wanted to ask you is that, should I consider paying extra to the institute to access those 5 extra mocks and extra candidate resource questions in my next attempt (last time I didn't not). Is it worth it?

Can you pls suggest wht he can do , is it okay to go for the third attempt? If not wht other courses optn is there . please waiting for your reply 🙏🏻
We would be happy to help your friend pass with a great result next time. We suggest your friend contacts us at chalkandboard.org or contacts Nathan via WhatsApp (the number is on our website also).

Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey Nathan, please advise - I’ve couple of days left in my result & it’s impractical to cover the PSM for me & also understand it. Is it fine if I just put it on at 2x & not listen to it just for the sake of getting the result. Though I want to properly watch the video after my result to understand the concept better. Is it fine considering the current situation?
How you approach the PSMs is up to you. It's an additional (valuable) learning opportunity provided by CFAI. If you do not technically finish it before your exam results day, your exam may be voided by CFAI. So proceed as you see fit. You definitely need to complete the PSM asap if you want to get a result.
Great advice Nathan! Harsh as they may seem, they are indisputable truths.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi Nathan, this is Tanishq. With my chartered accountancy exams in May 2025 and CFA Level 1 in February 2025, my schedule is extremely tight. I'm considering postponing the practical skills module until after May 2025. Could you please explain the implications of withholding the results, particularly any potential long-term impact on my career?
I would advise that you talk to CFAI directly about this, they are very responsive by phone. If you've taken the CFA Level 1 exam and are awaiting results, but you do not complete the PSM before the results date, CFAI can void your exam and ask you to retake it. Here is their policy link: www.cfainstitute.org/about/governance/policies/psm-policy
My math is way too weak I'm afraid that I will not understand anything 😬
Not to worry! If you decide to become our student, we will fully prepare you for the exams. We've taught thousands of students who do not feel they have strong math skills.
thanks
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I don't know about these special calculators but I have been using normal calculators for years now, a calculator rarely stops working out of nowhere because of low battery, it would give signs such as blur display and taking longer time to show numbers before it stop showing results.
There's a low chance of calculator battery failure on exam day, but in the small chance it happens it can ruin months of hard preparation. If you have a new battery, there's nothing to fear. Good luck on your exams!
@@ChalkBoardCFAPrep Can't agree more better to have at least one less thing to worry about. Your videos are really helpful 👍
If I decide to pursue the Private Market pathway now and later on pass Level 3, will the content I've studied help me with Level 2 for the CAIA program? Since I plan to skip Level 1 CAIA, which I assume covers the basics, is this thinking flawed? Should I just stick with Portfolio Management? I would really appreciate your insights.
The CAIA Level 2 program is fairly self explanatory as a stand alone. People often ask if taking CAIA Level 1 and Level 2 can help you prepare for the CFA alternative investments questions. My answer is the same, it has minimal effect. The CFA program is typically more quantitative and the CAIA program generally is more subject-material topic oriented (information over calculations).
Thank you very much for all the videos, I’m definitely scared by the passing rates for the level 1. I didn’t pass the level 1 on my first attempt and I wish I had found your videos sooner. Sir I am thinking of giving my exam in May 2025 .if I pay the standard fees can there be problem with my exam centre being outside the state or country just because i pay late fees
For large cities with many test centers, this probably won't be as big a problem as for smaller cities/countries with fewer testing centers. It really depends on your location and how many candidates are trying to compete for your desired test center locations/dates. A good rule of thumb is to register as soon as possible so that you can give yourself the best chances.
