I have zero expectations, but probably I’ll watch, I saw the Broadway musical and I liked it, so have changed my idea.

Maybe the trailer is bad, but it certainly looks like shit.

I mean it looks a little cheesy tbats because they didnt show ANY of the musical numbers.... i hate musicals but excited for this one

Okay so for the people who are responding to the people saying "This movie looks bad" with "STOP BEING MEAN IT"S A MUSICAL": You can't blame people for not knowing it's based on the musical it because the marketing team has done everything in their power to pretend this isn't a musical - NO songs from the show. NO mention at all of it being a musical in the title. Hardly any dance scenes or any indication of theater in the trailer. They are literally purposely making it look like a remake of the original movie and a terrible, Gen-z ifed version at that. I am so completely pissed off with the people in charge of this movie and I do not blame anyone saying it will be bad. I am a massive fan of the musical and I know the cast is great so I still have hope for us. But I do not blame anyone who thinks this movie will suck because they are marketing it horribly. Be mad at the people who made this garbage trailer. Not the og Mean Girls fans.

Now let's remake this with literally a single song from the show so people know it's supposed to be a filmed version of the musical and not a Mean Girls remake THANKS!

I dont like how everyone is acting like they're a side-character in the protagonist's life in the original everyone had their own lives.. and our main character was just sharing an existence in their universe but in this one.. they all look like they wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the main character's story.. yaaaaamin? this is also my biggest problem with video games.. good to know its leaking to movies too

It’s so frustrating that they won’t market this as what it is. Those of us who have seem the musical know how good it is, but those that don’t seem to not understand the reason for the remake. They already think it’s gonna be trash and don’t understand the point. I assure you the musical is in It’s own way epic!!

Omg people everyone who’s saying crap like “why bother if it’s not better than the original. This movie is based off the MUSICAL not the original! I honestly think you have to appreciate musicals to actually be excited for this and the cast looks really good! If you really have a problem with this then like don’t watch it it’s as simple as that lol

The trailer itself is well-made, but it’s still bad advertising because they’re refusing to advertise it as a musical. That’s why people think it’s just another remake, and that’s the marketing people’s mistake. Hiding the fact that it’s a musical is just going to piss of people who hate musicals, who will just go see it, then people will start singing, and then boom: a fuckton of bad reviews.

Why the hell aren’t they marketing this as a musical? I’ve seen the stage show - it’s really good. I would probably have never gone to see this based on the trailer, but I would go to see a movie of the musical. Prom, Waitress, Hamilton, and Maltilda were all movie musicals and promoted as such. The only reason I know this has actual songs in this is the music note in the title card. All they did was potentially alienate the entire Broadway fan base.
