Power of Color | Exploring Colors with Sebastian Masuda & James Meraz
Renowned for his dazzling artworks, Sebastian Masuda shared how color factors into his artistic process, how it’s a key part of kawaii culture, and how it transcends mere style to become a dynamic language of emotion, identity, and cultural expression.
Masuda’s insights and candid stories took the audience on a journey through the rich history of color in Japan, as he blended timeless sensibilities with his own innovative spin on tradition. Viewers also learned how he breathes new life into these elements, forging powerful connections between the past and present in his art, and how bold color palettes can expand creativity and resonate emotionally as well as aesthetically.
In addition to the artist Masuda, Professor James Meraz from the ArtCenter College of Design joined as a guest speaker. With his expertise in Spatial Experience Design and a wealth of experience in cultural exchanges with Japanese art and design institutions, Professor Meraz led an illuminating conversation with Masuda about the cultural significance of color in art across cultures and historical eras.

I finally understand. You were the teacher I was looking for. Thank you!
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Not usually into monster movies, so I ended up having to watch this for a class and WOW, i never wouldve thought it was on a small budget or with a small team, story wise it was wonderful and visually it was truly stunning! I thought everything was shot so beautifully!! Truly so well deserved!
Cute world in YOSHIKI🌹 thankyou🌍✨🌻✨🌈

Wow...very cute..💕
Yoshiki is kawaii too.☺️
Wish I could go 😢
The Movie is FANTASTIC, the interview is FASCINATING, and Takashi Yamazaki is AMAZING!!!
Wasn't he on Conan? When he went to Japan.
This is a joke, right?
CHIMECHO‼️‼️
ありがとございます! Thank you!
I started watching this film with my mother, after convincing her we should watch it. I KNEW it was going to be so amazing, the fleshed out story and characters are so beautiful. Such an amazing, but also intense and passionate movie. The best I’ve seen this year.
Budgetary limits prevented pollution so no harm to the ocean and sea life
What I loved most was the beautiful humanity -- forgiveness, guilt, shame, an internal war addressed in my favorite scene…..I did not need Godzilla but so needed the journey of the main characters….the love, Phoenix like rebirth of the main character, the love story -- a happy ending
Very Nice
Let’s hope nobody casts a veil
45:10 I'm happy that he really loves Shin Godzilla. Totally agree! xD
NOW, Imagine a Hideo Kojima and Takashi Yamazaki Collaboration.
He did visit Kojima Productions not too long ago
🫰👏👏👏👏 Tokyo vice 3
So happy to hear about the possibility of season 3 🎉
I haven't seen any of season two yet apart from the trailer and I'm already hoping it'll be renewed for season three. I hope season two will be available to watch in the UK soon as it hurts knowing season two just finished streaming on Max last week and it's completely unavailable on any UK streaming service or TV channel at the moment. Hopefully the BBC will pick up season two eventually like they did with season one, just hoping I don't have to wait too long to continue watching this great show; here's to season three!
Wonder if hes a Star Wars fan…. Id bet his Star Wars Sequels would of been far superior over JJ , and he would of done for Disney what Frozen did a decade ago
I believe he’s stated he really wants to make a star wars movie/project. I would love to see that honestly. Godzillas Atomic Breath Scenes remind me of the Death Star destroying Alderaan and Jedah in Rogue One.
メイキング映像に、感動❤致しました👍️🎵🎵
I hope future Toho projects can find their way to the same level of success and notoriety... this guy brings a vibe that is absolutely missing "Modern Hollywood"... I'm sure our directors look at this guy with a bit of envy... getting to create without the crushing weight of a billion dollar box office expectation, and endless studio tampering... and he completely leans into his VFX role, and gives his team proper recognition, where we are actively trying to hide our VFX's artists contribution out of some ridiculous shame... Thanks for the interview upload, toho has been pretty reserved with bonus features on their physical releases here in the US, so this definitely helps fill that void for this wonderful movie!
I know I should be here commenting on the film, but I’m so impressed and enamored with the interpreter. He does such a good job retaining and delivering all the charm and details of Yamazaki-san’s long answers in such a natural way. Congratulations on the Oscar win!
True! Best intertpreter I know.
A masterpiece in film and monster genre
Great video, i got to understand perspective a little bit better will go practice now❤
I was finally able to visit this exhibition last week and every sculpture is completely and totally amazing on its own. The video does no justice to showcase the sheer genius behind every single one of them, if anyone is hesitating to visit, or maybe has to do a special trip to do so I highly encourage you to do it before the exhibition goes away, I will probably do one or two more visits (if not more) to truly appreciate it as much as possible. Thank you very much to the organizers, Japan house and the artists for bringing this exhibition to pokemon fans!
Damn, they're serious about these exhibitions. I'm jealous of L.A. people, we have a Japan House here in São Paulo - Brazil, but I don't think we'll get to see these amazing pieces here :/
I'm considering getting these in my house. They're so relaxing anf anesthetically pleasing. Thank for for sharing ❤
This puts a huge smile on my face.
Why i dont understand any of this?
There's an English translation in the video, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
Not a single utterance of the term Rhizosphere. Is the need to patent a solution so great that it's worth risking complete failure attempting to reverse engineer a natural system of Carbon Storage with over a billion years of iteration? Because if not, you can sequester carbon by processing organic waste through worms and layering their castings over diminished soil mixes with organic litter like paper and leaves. There's no need for technology. Just human hands and a dignified career as a Solar Carbon Farmer. And the potential ROI in providing a future and stable Modern Family Farm Lifestyle for millions of children is dramatically higher than any technology that has ever been patented. So why waste all this time and effort trying to develop technology to replace a perfectly free natural system that can be charged up with carbon with unskilled human labor, literally anywhere on the planet? Isn't it too late to develop and deploy technology on any scale that could matter anyway? Life knows how to globally scale. Life IS a Carbon Battery. Why not partner with Families, Farmers, and Life instead of whoever these companies are trying to extract "green tax" revenue?
Since 1985, we have been saying that the 21st century will be the age of bamboo. Why is bamboo, which has been around for a long time? I think some people have doubts. However, bamboo grows incredibly fast. The possibilities for bamboo are endless when you think about its various uses. This is what I wanted to convey in this webinar. Thank you for giving me the opportunity.
