CAPE YORK Ep.2: The Old Telegraph Track, Palm Ck to Gunshot!
The adventure continues up in North Queensland as we venture onto the 'OLD TELEGRAPH TRACK'! Once again it didn't disappoint!
With 5 first timers, the fun and adrenaline started when we arrived at Palm Creek and there were trucks stuck on both exits and 4 more waiting to take the plunge!

There's always an adventure in store when CAPE YORK is mentioned! When the offer is put out to explore our own 'backyard' (The Cape) with some Victorians (AKA - Mexicans) it's hard to say NO. It was only a quick trip by W&U standards, but it was a cracker. Here is Episode 1 from last weeks trip. Make sure you keep an eye out for Episode 2 as the 'Old Tele Track' did not disappoint!

Here is our Final Episode of our Fraser Island Adventure! The whole reason for this trip was to scatter the 'Old Boys' ashes at Sandy Cape. With a close bunch of family and friends, we managed to negotiate Ngkala Rocks with 11 trucks and made it to the Tip on the 2nd anniversary of his death. Our working adventure in the Bahamas for the Island House Invitational Triathlon has come to an end. What an incredible experience!! Brings back some memories. I used to work in Diamond exploration for Striker Resources in the Seppelt Range. Drove this track quite a few times. Awesome country.
Just got back from doing it......and saw a pile of your core samples outside of oombulgurri !!
@denisgately4701 that's cool. I probably had a hand in describing those cores. We didn't cut many. It was mostly stream sampling and small scale mining to ascertain grade. If you look on Google earth at 14deg 14min South and 127deg 17min 30sec East you can see the old Ashmore site. The old pits are full of water. You can still see the tracks South of Ashmore to where the main camp was. Tracks South to the Seppelt site. You can see the turn off the main Carson River Track to Seppelt once you get over the Berkeley River heading West. Every year we used to open the road in from Kalumburu so we could get our gear in. I'd love to get back up there and see if you can even still get up the escarpment into those old sites.

Back in the 80s I walked the CREB track and the original Bloomfield track before they bulldozed the new road. Good times.

Thanks John! We had such a great time over there, one of our favourite islands in Oz so far. We have thought about doing some longer movies but it is a lot of hard working editing just 3mins for an amateur, would hate to think how long it would take to do a 30min DVD. In the Cape vids we did a bit more interaction and we think it worked well, unfortunately we didn't do enough in this one. Thanks again for the comments and ideas, they are a great help. We are just sitting at the International airport so we'll see if you like our next adventure. Cheers.
Winch and Unwind I know exactly what your saying... I made a 2hr dvd of my Cape Trip and it took up a hell of alot of my evenings over a year or so to get it edited right where I was happy with it... and I havnt even looked at my Simpson desert and High Country footage yet.... alot hours to go... but when it's done it's so good to look back at it... I've given a few out to people and they have loved it.... keep up the great posts and I look forward to seeing what you guys are up to next...👍😊 PS. Did you guys win the Powerball or something..😜... I wish had the time and money to do what you guys do week after week... Cheers...😁

All your videos of Cape York are amazing It is a shame that tourists don't get to see this beautiful wild region of Australia Often they prefer the beauty of New Zealand If they visited Cape York they would change their minds
Thanks Louisa. Yes a lot of people do miss out on some of the best parts of Australia and especially the remote regions of Cape York. We have done 3 trip up there now and still finding amazing spots that not many of the locals even know about, such an amazing place! Cheers.
Great vid. Thanks for uploading. Just wondering what map set up you were using that I saw at 3:33. I'm not sure which way to go myself with so many options on the market. Can I ask what hardware/software you had and were you happy with those choices. Regards.
Cheers! We use an Ipad Mini with the Hema Explorer App and Mud Maps App on it. We have been travelling Aust for the last 18 months and between the two apps, we have normally have a good idea where we are going. We have found that some roads won't be on one app but they will be on the other. We are happy with these choices and do some very remote travel and have made it home to talk about it so they can't be too bad. Enjoy your travels.

I lived downstream from Trevathan falls for a while in 1982. A couple years back I would visit the falls as often as possible. Can't wait to get home again.
Oh, love your production work. Absolutely excellent. If you've heard of Walker Bay beach near Cooktown. I lived there for a while and worked at the Sovereign Resort. I moved to Bloomfield sometime later. Thank you for taking me home again. EDIT: I walked the CREB track in 1982 when I was 18. Lived in Cedar Bay for a while too.
Brad Griffin you have a great story, bet you have seen it all change so much.
I used to drive those roads in a 22 seat Coaster when I worked for Country Road Coachlines. We used to drive the Bloomfield track in them in the dry season.
