bro same goes for me. back in elementary school. I was introduced to MH on psp. we have those limtied starwars psp and god of war psp but we played MH freedom Unite. god that was such a nice time.

I've always had a close connection with this game. My older brothers/cousins grew up with MH1-MHFU while I grew up on Tri. Such good times. Can't wait for MHWilds!
I remember playing one of the freedom games on psp on release and not liking the franchise, but getting hooked years later playing a translated Portable 3rd rom with friends on PC. I swear by 4 Ultimate being the best work Capcom has ever done with the franchise, but World was a refreshing take and Rise is fun to get into. Haven't really played much of MonHun or Dos (Yet), but I like the respect the game gives the player in those old titles, nobody holds your hand and you have to prepare for fights on your own with no external help. P.D: More people should play Freedom Unite, Generations is also very good.

I got into the franchise with MHW but me and my brother collect old consoles and I played the older games. The older games would have 100% have been some of my favorite games of all time back then
Monster hunter 4 ultimate was my first and it was pretty tight, having to play with the claw method was pretty messed up, and has probably giving my hands some kinda underline issues LOL. Rise/Sunbreak is pretty neat due to the fasion sense of having Layered Armor / layered weapons. Nothing beats your first experience with a monster hunter game, they're all fantastic even when those insane side checks would make you wanna jump out a window.
Playing the old Monster Hunter games on the PSP with the claw method definitely took a toll on my hands, but you know how it is as kids-you don’t really feel those effects; you just keep improving! I haven’t tried Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate yet, but I’d be down to give it a shot one day.
I started with the first on PS2 but didn't really care for it so i stopped playing it relatively soon. Got Freedom and liked it a bit more but hit a brick wall. Then i got MHFU and that's when it finally clicked. I got 3 buddies to get it so we all used to play all the freaking time. Spent a thousand hours on it, that was before Ad-Hoc Party on PS3 and i put in a few thousand more helping people online. Still play all the games to this day with one of those guys from all those years ago.
That's awesome! Sounds like MHFU was a game-changer for you and your crew. I love hearing how people connected with the series, especially before Ad-Hoc Party and modern online features. There was something special about the older games like Freedom and Freedom Unite-the difficulty and sense of progression felt so much more rewarding. You had to work for every victory, which made it satisfying in a way that the newer games just don't quite match. Nowadays, it feels like the series has gotten a bit watered down, with less challenge and more hand-holding. It's great that you're still playing with one of your buddies from back then-those long gaming sessions really built strong bonds.
I started with monster hunter tri and when i finally found a copy of freedom unite i started playing non stop and you are right its a stark diffrance from one generation to another freedom made you really feel like you're just a man going up against the forces of nature,no music, no special attacks just a weapon and a hunter.
Monster Hunter has lost much of what made it special as a game. It used to feel like a real hunt-going up against the forces of nature, not even knowing exactly what monster you were hunting. There was a sense of mystery in everything you did. The atmosphere was silent, with no music at first, but then as the battle unfolded, the music would come to life along with the fight. Sadly, the newer games no longer capture that essence. It's heartbreaking to see such a rich idea of hunting with your closest friends fade away.
This game is soooo bad its laughable. Never played anything else soooooo boring . have to sit more then you can play.
Hey, I totally get where you're coming from! P99 can feel a bit slow, especially compared to newer games where you're always in action. But that's part of what makes it special. The downtime, like sitting to regen mana or health, gives time for social interaction, strategy planning, and appreciating the world. It's more of a marathon than a sprint, and that slower pace allows you to form deeper connections with other players and the environment. The sense of accomplishment in P99 is huge because the game makes you work for it. Every level, piece of gear, or even surviving a tough fight feels rewarding because nothing is handed to you. It's a different flavor of fun, one that grows on you the more time you invest. Plus, some of the best memories come from those group moments while you’re sitting and chatting between pulls.

Judgment is a good thing, but you have to look at where it's coming from. If it's from someone that has no admirable qualities, then it should be ignored. If it's from someone that is admirable, then it should be taken under advisement.

To say EverQuest has PS1 graphics is pretty insulting to the game. EverQuest was released on April 16, 1999 with cutting edge 3D graphics that actually required a 3D graphics card to play. This was controversial at the time because not everyone had a 3D card to play, but the creators thought the immersion was that important. There actually was a PS2 version of EverQuest released called EverQuest Online Adventures in 2003, and those graphics were not as good as the original. At worst, you could say EQ had late generation PS2-quality graphics. Show some respect.
I stumbled upon Runescape way back when it only had 3-4 servers. It was a new game with silly graphics and I was just coming off DAoC and a game called Infantry on SOE. Runescape impressed me so much with just how fun it was to raise skills.
Still one of the best games I have ever played, being locked behind members as a kid had such mystery to it
Bards are better
While the CC aspect is very deep in EQ, WoW classic does absolutely have CC, it's just that the players in WoW don't use it, they would rather pew pew and top the DPS meters. Mages can sheep and hunters can use traps. Druids can sleep and Warlocks can charm. It's nothing compared to EQ, but the feature is in WoW classic!
I agree it did have those types of CC but nothing that was super special like turning a boss or monster into a pet and using it as a weapon to help win battles
@McBillyBoy Actually, the priest skill Mind Control can do that to humanoids. Again, it's nowhere near as vital as it is in EQ, but it is useful. In EQ, CC is pretty much a must! Not only is it extremely helpful to every single other class in the group, but the skill ceiling is very high! You can easily identify a bad 'chanter or bard to a good one. In WoW classic you can be a complete idiot and still sheep or mind control something. Anyway,just saying it is in other games, at least one other anyway. Stop making me defend WoW, lol. Love your content man!
I remember early WoW when dungeon crawls were slow and enjoyable and you did use CC. It's not like that now, it's just go go go go. That's why I still play EQ and I don't play WoW anymore.
the game is ruined now since DBG chose money over enforcing their own rules. teek server and faceless fury being exempt from the rules. training, zone disruption, and griefing gets no punishment. tell them about and get ignored, post on the forums and get banned.

It's so unforgiving that I describe it as "a fantasy world survival game" and I consider that an awesome feature of the game. For decades I claimed EQ was the peak of the genre ca 2003; started playing p99, and now I know I'm right.
Buff your pet and yourself at the same time that way you know when your buffs start to wear off that his is also. Also the enchanter is probably the best DPS in the game fucking obliterates! It's a difficult class to get down but once you do, charm and you will outclass anybody else in the game. I can't believe that 25 years down the road this game is back and I am watching it on TH-cam! People will never believe that I saw marriages fall apart because of this game, I even saw people get married on this game! This game was crazy good

Give Quarm a try. It has some QoL changes (nothing that takes away from the spirit of the game imo. Community is great). I haven't logged into P99 since Quarm launch.
@@nmbr1defender762 naw, Quarm went down the QoL toilet. free legacy, free epics, instant travel, boxing, instant spawns... etc etc. Quarm is about as far from real EverQuest as you can get. Which is why P99 with stale AF Velious for 15 years still gets more players than Quarm, heh

Haven't played for over 20 years now but I was one of the most aggressive clerics on Veeshan server around the PoP / GoD expansion. I remember I would do weird shit as a cleric like be the main puller of a group by being creative with sooth (I think?) and root.. With speed buffs I would have mobs lined up,, there was also an item I could proc that had a snare? I can''t remember. But I lost a few years of my life to this game at its peak... tried EQ 2 for a year - then had to get on with my life. Never really looked back but I do miss some of it. The Plane of Time raids when they were new were crazy and setting up heal rotations. When GoD was new and it was specced way too hard - a fucking 10 hour group session to beat a single group zone where we did it and I was literally shaking in the end from the stress lol. Crazy memories.
I have not played since planes of power have original boxes would I be able to use my old account would like to see norrath again.

Just fyi the Enchanter is an absolute pumper at higher levels. A charm pet can out damage like the most well-geared player.
During HoT on Mischief I consistently was in the top 10 on raids without a charm pet. You eventually get 3 dots and 3 nukes. When you can charm your charm spells buff the pet starting at the 95 charm.
It’s the greatest game ever made. Playing it back in 1999 when there was no info on the internet was an experience I’ll unfortunately never have again.
I actually feel the same way about runescape, I mean there was internet but I was so small at the time like 10 years old, I didn't know Google or anything so it was a world that felt so massive and exciting

Tip for running for your life: press forward and strafe at same time and use the diagonal run path to outrun mobs. One of the usable quirks. Also, use bandage to heal up to 70%. Cheers,
^^^this. Unmodified/unbuffed run speed is a velocity of 30. Strafe running brings it up to 33, which is a solid 10% increase without consuming any of your endurance. Strafing also stacks with buffs and mounts.

Hey man, I just had your video in the suggestions and it fits perfectly into the "I need a video that can run in the background" vibes that I was looking for. very pleasant voice, never too much chatter - really cool. Only the music gets in the way sometimes, I see what you wanted to achieve with it, but I find it incongruous with the rest of the vibe of the video

@@McBillyBoy Not necessarily. Maybe the music doesn't need to be as loud, or you could accompany it with a slightly more aggressive commentary. As part of the journey. For example: "I have to collect 20 of the item." Music fades in, Commentary could then be "so I slaughter my way through the goblins for 3 hours. I exterminate families, destroy dreams and wishes with my axe, but the goblins come and come and run to their deaths" Music fades out. Video continues normally.
Or as part of a nature documentary. Then cozy music plays and you talk about how this orc slaughters in his natural habitat and thirsts for blood.
I really like the pacing and how hard it is to get lost watching this video. I personally would have recommended you visit catherby asap when getting into fishing, as there is lobster shark and anchovie spots right next to a bank and cooking range. And it’s all next to a fishing shop
I could do that and make a Mid level guide on fishing
