VW Polo Fox Mk2 (Type 86C) 1989 - Walk-around & Start up (4K)
Pristine example of my former Mk2 Polo, in the Fox trim with the vivid factory 'Tornado Red' paint and the classic red check/tartan upholstery. 36,200 Miles.
Vehicle was made in 1989 and registered in February 1990.
The body style is a Wagon (in some markets), and Coupé in others. Although I’ve heard it most commonly referred to as the ‘Bread Van’ in the UK. This body style was introduced with the Mk2 with its distinctive, almost vertical rear window.
This gives the vehicle ample room in the boot, even by today’s standards. Plus, there’s even more room with the seats folded down.
The Fox trim features the iconic rounded single-headlamp grille, and small bumpers with a white highlight running the length of the plastic. Most other Mk2s feature the standard black on black bumpers. Additionally, the Fox trim grants you the lovely special edition cloth upholstery. This consists of the classic red pattern on grey vinyl seats.
Powered by a 1043 CC four cylinder petrol engine, mated to a four gear H pattern gearbox that features a dog leg reverse. It's probably outputting 35-40 hp, but with the vehicles weight it comfortably gets up to 60 mph.
It's been an absolute pleasure to own as a starter classic and can be seen as a reliable retro investment. A versatile vehicle which has been loved by many for generations and will be for years to come.
