I have been watching your TH-cam videos often on for several years. I started before you and Colleen had your son. I am a Seeing Eye graduate, and I enjoy watching how you interact with your dog. I especially impressed with the fact that you do not rely on treat except for on rare occasions. Rather, you want the dog to work for praise and affection. Good for you. I also enjoy how Effectively and with no fanfare demonstrate that a blind person is perfectly capable of caring for a child. Again, kudos to you.

I love watching your videos and I am hoping to go on the list for a guide dog later this year or next year.

As an added bonus, she is a puppy raiser as well and has successfully raised 4 puppies that have gone on to be guides. Working on her 5th right now. Oh man, does time just seem to speed up? I can't believe that Luca is eight months already! I remember when you were just telling us that you and Colleen were expecting. Goodness! Anyway, it sounds like you guys are having a blast. I'm sure being a parent has its challenges, but that's like anything else. I always get a kick out of listening to you talk to him. The love and your voice is very apparent, and your little boy is one lucky guy! He's going to grow up with a fantastic role model, that's for sure.

Youch! That same thing happened with one of my previous guide dogs, and yeah, it was pretty painful. I'm glad you're big guy is doing better. I say big with a grin because I know Louie is even bigger. You guys have ice already? If there has been ice in Wisconsin, I have missed out on it so far, and I'm not complaining. I was in California for three weeks, I came back to Wisconsin a week ago, and I'm coming back to California for Christmas, then again in January to deliver a puppy. The Moo dog has been brilliant. He has worked through three super crowded airports, and San Francisco is a breeze for him. Anyway, I hope you guys are doing well. I have some videos to catch up on at some point I love the sound of Niesen's jingle bells. I need to find some and put them on my dogs. The little ones like to chew them, so the jingle life of their bells is very short-lived.

Glad he is feeling better....I'm sure the snifari helped offset the dog park disappointment....

Yeah I totally dig the new AI feature of Be My Eyes. You did a great job demoing it. Do you ever ask it questions or for more details? It's like conversing with a human. I know they're using that GPT chat model, which is a huge game changer. This isn't a complaint, just a personal preference. I wish it wouldn't use words like adorable, happy, etc because for me, it can inhibit how I see the picture in my head. I just want the information. It'd be cool if I could customize to make that happen. But again, that's not a complaint; I know a lot of people don't mind that. As a photographer, having such detailed info has been super useful to me. So yay ai!

Hi John I volunteered for Be My Eyes in honour of one of my students Tom. Tom was suddenly going blind overnight. I worked with him for months. Long story short Tom passed away, a few weeks after his 18th birthday. RIP Tom. You were a truly wonderful student to work with. I'll never forget you 💔

I'm loving all of your content, but especially your baby content. You're so good at describing what you are doing. The little guy sounds so adorable in the background. I know it's easy for me to say this because I'm not a parent, but I don't get tired of hearing the noises that babies make. I can't say the same for puppies, though. We have two puppies in the house that we are raising (I rent part of the house from the breeder that I work for) and when these guys have big feelings, they express them… And screams and shrieks! I know they will get out of this stage, but holy cow! Am I crazy for wanting to raise dogs? Probably. But in many ways, it's not as big of a job as parenting a kid. That's for ninja people like you and Colleen. Ha ha

I just found your channel, and this is a great video. When you retire a guide dog, do they remain as a pet in your family, or do the get adopted by other families like some police/military dogs?
