    The Wave (Plus) is nowhere near a good multitool. Here's why. The Wave has practically unusable medium size flat screwdriver and fake Phillips screwdriver, since the bitholder is too wide and too short. The Rebar, on the other hand, has the real 3D Phillips screwdriver and good flathead screwdrivers. The Wave is remarkably poor in the tool equipment, the scissors only take space - generally, scissors rather belong in a manicure than in a multitool because they can easily be substituted by the knife or pincers in most cases. The ruler is almost illegible on the Wave, whereas on the Rebar it's perfect. The plier jaws are wider and better to use in the Rebar, while the needle nose crap in the Wave is unstable and too narrow. In general, the Rebar is much steadier and more efficient. I also highly appreciate the Rebar's awl, which is completely missing in the Wave. The Wave is more fashionable than usable - it's nothing but an overpriced toy. Of course, those who have bought the Wave just to masturbate over it's design without really using it for work will never learn this truth.

    Same issue with the old S1 sheath. Works well but but it's noisy.

  • @thomaschainey3230
    @thomaschainey3230 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could run some Paracord loops through the sheath to carry scout or regular carry and then run the tale end of the paracord line through the lanyard hole and tie it off so it can not fall out of the sheath or keep anyone from grabbing off your belt.

    Forgot to mention, which is pretty clear to see in the video, that this doesn't use the tradition flint spark wheel to ignite, which means 2 things: the flint won't deteriorate over time if stored and the lighter will still work at higher altitudes; in case you are climbing any mountains...Cheers

    My hands are a lot bigger than yours I’ve never had any trouble with the wave but I do like the signal so I understand the switch. I also have no problem EDC in the waves every day. The large screwdriver is great for opening things like actual electrical boxes and things that require a large screwdriver to turn them. It also doubles as a better pry tool than any of the blades

    That's "torx" hardware. Probably either a T6 or T8, and should be easy to remove the scales. What are the scales made of? Blade rub does suck. Got some very thin stock though, which is good for slicing. Thanks for the vid. P.s. I hate L.V.

    • @jimmyonthemove

      Thanks for the details, not sure about the scale material, feels like G10, but doubtful that it is. I can appreciate the no love for LV, just needed to get away. Appreciate the reply. Cheers.

    I’ve never had a pinching problem with the wave. You could just adjust to it I feel. I edc a surge, it’s got a wider grip to it is that’s not an issue. You’d likely enjoy the free p4. It’s pliers are both wide and wing freely, making it easier to manipulate. I’d argue that none of the tools on the wave are a waste of space, the secondary flathead is a good prying tool, the eyeglass screwdriver is great for many items that use tiny screws such as camera maintenance. The point of a Leatherman is having every tool you might need when you need it.

    • @jimmyonthemove

    Another thing... too big for edc ?? If you carry a knife then those two multitools are actually way better edc cause you get so much more out of them compared to a blade only... i carry a Surge as eman edc and i love it ! I got a Wave, MUT, wingman, Free P4, Free T4, squirt PS4 and the Surge is the all around best EDC ever made ! I'm actually gonna buy a Signal juat cause i'm a Leatherman guy too !

    “I’m a minimalist. That’s why I only carry ten knives on me.” I’m sorry man, but you won’t survive a week if SHTF if you have this mindset with everything. It’s just way too much extra bulk and weight. Toss the multitool in your pack and bring the knives down to one sheathed fixed blade and one folder in your pocket.

    This is all very fun to think and talk about. But, when the SHTF, most likely you'll be unprepared and least expect it. That's why they call it "S". ;-) Now, in that very realistic scenario, what you'll be left with then is what you have on you. If you want to reduce complications in your life, look at everything you have and carry around in those terms. Then, when the S really hits the F, you'll be in better shape to deal with it. This may mean carrying around something that's a little heavier, bulkier, sturdier, more rugged and less fidgety. Good, you're thinking in the right terms. Can you dig your way out of an elevator, for example, with your knife/pocket tool (just as an example)? No, OK, scratch that Spyderco Dragonfly in your pocket. Can you get and purify water whenever you may need it? No, OK, get some means of doing so. Can you purchase what you may need with cash? OK, get some (a lot preferably). Are you wearing rugged, durable clothing that can serve as something of a temporary shelter? Get yourself a hat, sweater and jacket. Can you walk 10 miles in your shoes over rugged terrain? OK, get yourself some good boots. Of course, you're carrying a reliable means of making a fire. Now, you're pretty much good to go.

    I was looking at an Enuff with an idea towards horizontal carry, but if it wiggles like that? Damn it, that is a hundred dollar plus knife, for that price a sheath that actually holds the bloody steel should not be a lot to ask! Question though, is that a new model/sheath or one of the older ones? A quick search reveals that there are after market sheaths for $25, something for me to consider.

Ive heard like 3 other reviewers say if they could have one knife the Sage 5 would be it. Just a great blend of toughness, capability and size.
