I came out and transitioned in the Barony of Cynnabar in the Midrealmin 2003. I was Oberto, I became Agnoletta. I am so proud, amazed, and touch of the acceptance I received. I am in a new group now, and they have same courageous friendship and acceptance there, too. The SCA is the best of us.

As someone who only recently was introduced to the SCA and is still hesitant to get involved, I found this to be an incredibly insightful session about the internal cultures and behaviors of the organization as a whole. Thank you for putting this up! A little disappointed that the recording seems to cut off before the end of the actual session though. It put a cliff-hanger on a very good conversation about communication styles in the current era.

Back around AS 30, I was Lord Rhys ap Cynan of the Barony of Allyshia, Kingdom of the West. For a number of reasons, I left the SCA for a long while. In that time I have transitioned MtF. My daughter went to her first SCA event just a few months before the pandemic struck. In that time, I have come into contact with several members of Allyshia and have been received well by all. In fact, I have been informed that at least one knight of the barony has a trans squire! With this knowledge in hand, I have spent the pandemic preparing to re-enter the SCA as Lady Anne de Baguley. I expect to be somewhat gender-bendy with my garb, but then I am in mundane life, as well. Thank you to those trans folk who have paved the way for me to feel welcome within the society. As I live in the Northern Marches of the West, I hope to meet some of the trans folk of An Tir at events to come.
