Wheelchair to Whitewater with TRR Atlanta: Ocoee Bliss
A wonderful day on Ocoee as we take Dennis down in the tandem kayak. Dennis is wheelchair bound but has a heart that soars! Congratulations on the dry hair run Dennis and big shout out to Mike H. for his leadership and skill in the duo, along with the huge and wonderful support crew of many great friends and TRR brothers/sisters that made this trip not only possible but a huge success and fun time together!

Ocoee River: Intermediate & Challenging Lines
มุมมอง 474ปีที่แล้ว
Just me out having fun in my new Waka Steeze enjoying some of the more fun lines on the middle Ocoee and changing things up not paddling the same lines over and over. If you have paddled a bunch of laps on Ocoee and are getting bored, or perhaps you are starting to want to work on harder moves, this is a collection of some of the intermediate lines for many of the rapids. Note that there are in...
Tribute to the brave souls of Pillow Rock @ Upper Gauley

It takes a brave heart and committed confidence to run Pillow Rock at Upper Gauley. Sometimes the lines go smooth...sometimes not. Here is a short but congratulatory tribute to those that committed and gave it all at Pillow Rock! Congratulations to everyone for the start of Gauley Season 2023. Everyone on this river is impressive and I was grateful to be there for opening weekend again this yea...

Some days you get on the river and you just feel like you are in the flow. Time slows down and you just feel at peace with a happy, content heart with good friends by your side and beauty all around you. For me it instills a sense of calm gratitude.
French Alps Kayaking Series: Le Doron De Bozel
มุมมอง 522ปีที่แล้ว
The Doron de Bozel in the French Alps...4 KM of some of the fastest paced glacial melt river I've ever paddled! This river was an absolute delight to paddle and a treat to get on it at high water. The pace was almost non-stop and the flows pushy and stout= TONS of fun. I could paddle this style of river all day long and not get tired of it I don't think. Big shout out to Pauline and Titouan for...
French Alps Kayaking Series: Le Isère River
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Le Isère River....18 KM of fast paced river and tons of fun. GoPro always flattens things out but this river was really so fun to paddle with fairly continuous and really great wave trains and just a solid good time. For my southeastern USA paddle friends...it was kind of like a faster, pushier, and much colder snow/glacial melt Ocoee-ish river though more continuous. It's rated class 3 & 4 but...
French Alps Kayaking Series: Le Giffre River with Eggstream Kayaking
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Our first river in France, Le Giffre, with the fabulous guys at Eggstream Kayaking. What a delight to get to paddling with Mylo and Elliot of Eggstream! I have watched their TH-cam channel for a long time. They were an absolute delight to meet and get to spend time with. Solid boaters and fabulous river guides as well. The Giffre was the easiest river we paddled while in France...kind of an eas...

Awesome video man, thanks for posting!
That’s an easy class 2+/3 run.
indeed!! hahaha.
Wow! There are a whole lot of "Dumbs" (Kayakers) in this video.
I thought you needed special permits to put water vessels in the chattooga?
There is a kiosk at the put in where you fill in a permit showing # in your party and date of put in and take out and you keep a carbon copy of it and place the other copy in the kiosk and off you go to enjoy a day on the river.
I'm doing this, thanks
Hahaha. Awesome!!! It is the way!!!!! 🤣
This is intern approved
@@Cade_Burkhardt please start teaching the Ace students how to stern lounge!! You don’t want them to miss out. 🤣🤣
@@SouthernYak 100% will be a thing now
I love this!
Nice run Dennis and Mike!
What an amazing video! Thanks for sharing! Put a big smile on my face!
OUT Foxtrot STANDING
Thanks for sharing this video. Great to see the local rivers of that region! Truly motivational!
I’ve never been there, so I have no clue, but what is to stop people from being more River right? Are there rocks blocking the entrance?
You can definitely go more river right. Most people who are left do it for the challenge and fun and it doesn’t always work out well. 🤣 there is a pour over you want to avoid about 1/2 down the approach on river right but once you clear it you can cut over right and avoid the chaos of pillow rock.
Great educational video! Will you be introducing a stern lounging category to the Ocoee race this year?
I like the sound of stern lounging in the ocoee race!! 🤣🤣
Dude this is such a technical move, freestyle keeps evolving.
Yes yes….VERY technical! 🤠
Where is the upper limit? Only pioneers can begin to speculate!
It’s truly a groundbreaking movement! You need to start including it in your instruction hahaha. We need some stern lounging videos from folks across the pond! 🤣🤣
@@SouthernYak I'll get on it!
@@SouthernYak I’m gonna need a video of you stern lounging off of gorilla…. for educational purposes of course.
WTF. 😂
Hahaha. Y’all gotta try it!! 🤣
Something new I will probably try.
Yesss!!!!
Now I get it!!! 😂
Whitewater kayaking will never be the same!
Preach it! :D
Y'all just now discovering sit on top kayaks🤣
hahahahahaha
So thankful that ya’ll taught me the ways of Stern Lounging!! There is no going back.. I feel as if the moves on the water whilst Stern Lounging are limitless & there is so much yet to be discovered in regards to this cutting edge technique. Your vision of bringing comfort to adventure is sheer brilliance… thanks again for showing me the way!!! 🙏🏼🙌🏼🤣
hahahahaha. YES!!!!
The lazy way to go stern first.
hahahaha! love it!
Yaaaaaassss!
It's a movement!
I just watched this again. Y'all are so very good to me. Thank you for so much support and encouragement!
Kelly is amazing!
Many years back we put in just below the Cascades - the gauge on the river was 13.5 ft - no idea on CFS. Literally no break until we got to the put in. VERY pushy
Hi water upper Nanty is tons and tons of fun!!!!
"Trust but Verify", a useful mantra ...
I could stay all day right here! 🤣
Hahaha. Indeed!!
Great videos! I’ve got a private trip this October. I’ll be the only kayak in the group. I’d like to get some footage of the trip also. Was this shot on a GoPro? If so how many batteries did you use? What did you use to keep the batteries charged?
All of my videos are shot with a GoPro camera. I brought 4 batteries with me. I have a charger base that charges 3 batteries at a time. I researched all the options including solar and landed on the easiest, most cost effective, and reliable option is to use an Anker power bank. It allowed me to charge the batteries each night, along with my phone (used as a camera). Best wishes on your trip and thanks for watching!
@@SouthernYak Thanks so much for taking the time to respond! Two last questions I promise. Did one Anker power bank get you through the whole trip or did you bring multiple. Also how much memory would you recommend bringing?
@@StephenBiggs-t8xI brought 2 power banks just bc I had 2 and I didn’t want to worry about it but I only needed one. On multi day trips I carry an SD card for each day of the trip and I # the sd cards so I know which day is what. That way clips don’t get confused on which day they came from and I can keep all filming organized by each individual day. I use at least a 64gb sd card. 128gb is even better but you can get by in 64gb if you manage your film time and don’t shoot in 4K. If in 4K then definitely 128GB is needed per day. Hope this helps!
Miss this shit
Thanks for the information. I have been paddling my XP for a couple years now and I have been camping out of it quite a bit. I love this kayak, and even on 250 CFS is the ditch of the Muddy Creek this boat performs. This is an awesome way of making use of otherwise dead space in the kayak. I ended up with a tube 17.5 inches long and if you have a longer inseam, you can fit more. Be sure to put your Nalgene in the holder when determining your overall length (cut once). I used gorilla glue and I think the straps are mandatory cause the glue would pop off the ABS as I was testing it. Great video, I referenced it at least 7-10 times. Happy Expeditions !
Thanks so much and glad this was helpful! The Stinger XP is a great boat!
Thank you for the video .. great comparison.. very helpful…
What size was your Gnarvana?
Looks like this would make for a spectacular swim...
That brings back memories. I got my butt kicked on that rapid many times in the 90s. At least it is a pretty safe spot to crash and burn.
I don’t get why they all crash is it that hard seems kinda like a really 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 sport!
Did anyone die?
Yes. About 253 kayakers died that day.
Excellent; one of my favorite whitewater videos I’ve seen in a bit and on such a beautiful section of river!
Using this for beta! Tony, I constantly find myself seeking out your videos for beta on my pfds. Your lines are consistently clean, music is soothing, and editing is smooth. You're a gem, Southern Yak! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
So kind and gracious of you Ben!!! So glad some of my videos are helpful beyond my enjoying looking back on them later down the road hahaha. If you’ve not been on south sauty yet you will love it. Beautiful and fun to paddle!!! Congrats on your continued TH-cam channel growth!!
🔥🔥🔥
Soundtrack was the bomb. Loved it!!
Does the Stinger XP have a bulkhead between the seat and rear hatch?
Awesome vid man!
Alternative routs, what about the right line at "welcome to Saudy"?
Fantastic! I have done the river from just below the gorge down to Samoens in an inflatable kayak or airboat as the French call them but would love to do the gorge section. It is much longer than you realise from the trail above.
Love trying new lines! Thank you so much for this brother man! Definitely going to try these!
Some of the moves are tons of fun! The Grumpy’s ferry above the ledge is tons of fun!
You both did awesome!!! I can’t wait to try the upper nanty!!
Student: "And when will I need to use a high brace?" Instructor: "At the bottom of the stairs, of course!"
Hahahaha indeed!
Shame you guys didnt have a silky saw would blast through that branch in no time and gets it out of the water for the next guy. Good work and and fast reactions, well done time and positive action is key.
I was thinking about a saw as I watched. Even with a saw available, the approach they took seemed best. It was faster to do without a saw, and once the branch was partially cut it could have become a dynamic situation in an unpredictable way and gone south.
Good stuff!! I miss hanging out up there!
I was in the boat for that first one!!!!! Epic day so happy I found this video.
Hahaha. That’s awesome!!! So glad to see your comment and glad you enjoyed the video and your day on upper gauley!
