converting jbl eon g2 to passive speaker
มุมมอง 2183 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is an overview of converting the classic JBL EON G2 to a passive speaker. The power amp in mine stopped working. I re-capped sections on the power board but discovered that even more was wrong and needed new parts. It was not worth the time for this older technology board. I plan to use this fantastic speaker (Neodymium magnets!!) with an external Class D type amp after conversion. I show ...

Red House jam

A classic by Jimi. I'm pulling in lots of his riffs here and putting in others. If you hang around past the 4 min mark, the univibe is kicked in for later Hendrix riffage. I made this sequence with a Korg Electribe2. Super fun jam song to do. For the guitarists, there is a pigtronix disnortion, GE300, azor compressor, and nux monterey vibe with a Fender strat. The amp is a Fender twin sim from ...

Nice video! I did the mod too and I'm getting some popping when the octave is turned back on, do you know what it could be?
Where is that buzz coming from?
If you want to make a piezzo sound least partially correct... then you add a resistor parallel to it , and one in series. Then you add least a cap in series. A 2nd order crossover is highly likely will suit it better. Afterwards ... they sound dreadfull as those stupid plastic flanges or whatever poor excuse for a waveguide.. are thin , and crapy. But , can be made better. You need to add a huge , huuuge amount of silicone sealer to its back side. To add some stiffness and dampening. Actualy after these modifications and the proper crossover its about okay .. over 3 kHz as crossing point. Some of them have a big bump at one point , a notch filter can kindof make it less painfull. By the time you did all this , you will realise thst you should have went whit Just a better paper cone tweeter or a 1" dome.
Thanks for the video ! Does this mean that you cannot control the Electribe and another synth at the same time on a MIDI keyboard ? Since all 16 channels are used by the electribe
Hi. I trust you are well. I am sorry to disturb but I am not finding the following video. I am looking to mode a Code 100 I got second hand in a similar way - how did you do this/where can I get the information to do it? Thank you very much in advance! Best regards, John.
Hi. Do you have a wiring diagram for these 2 mods?
Word
Love to see how it drives a Behringer MS1, cos that's what I want one for.
Please help! I am unable to do any of this. At best... I am only able to use midi to sync tempo. I would like to use the Electribe to sequence my Volca FM2 and my SH-4d. First... I just want to have proof of concept between the Electribe and the Volca FM2. Steps I've taken: In the Electribe ES2 Sampler, went into the Global menu and set Global Midi Channel to 1. Should I do this? In the Volca FM2, holding 'Memory' while powering on, I see that CH 01 is selected. Seems straightforward... but is this correct? After doing this, in another video someone presses the 1st grey pad on the Electribe and their Volca makes a sound. After doing this, my Volca FM2 makes no sound. I cannot make my Electribe even play the sounds of my Volca FM2, much less sequence it. Obviously I'm missing something. What steps am I not performing here that I should be?
Did you figure it out? I’m kind of in the same boat.
@dudleyhughbanks9287 I did figure a portion of this out... to an extent. I went into Global in the Electribe and set the Channel to 1... and then in my Volca FM2 I pressed 'Memory' down while booting it up... and selected Channel 1 on the Volca FM2. Then, I could sequence the Volca FM2.. up to 64 steps for each pattern. So if everything is set to Channel 1 in both devices.. then, in the Electribe, make sure your on 'Part 1', the first trigger pad on the upper level. Then switch to 'Keyboard' and start banging out your sequence. You should hear the Volca sound if it's audio is plugged into your mixer or USB interface. So that much I have figured out. But since the Electribe can sequence up to 16 devices, I was really hoping it would be able to sequence 4 channels of my Roland SH-4d. Evidently, the Novation Circuit Tracks can sequence two of the SH-4d's channels. Since the Electribe boasts the ability to sequence 16 synths, I figured it would surely be able to do better than the two external channels that the Circuit Tracks can do... but it was not to be... at least not yet. I'm gonna keep putzing with it... because for the track I did, it was great being able to utilize song-mode for at least one of the SH-4d 's tracks/channels... but I'd really like to be able to do all 5 of the SH-4d 's parts. I'll probably post the song I created tomorrow. Long-story-short... my wife originally did these very infectious electro-clash riffs on her Arturia MiniFreak. I did the beats. But her Arturia has no song-mode... much like the SH-4d.. but I can accept that on a single channel/track monotimbral synthesizer. So, I tried to recreate her riffs using the SH-4d since it is multi-timbral, with five tracks/channels. But alas, the SH-4d has no song-mode. So, I wanted to see if I could externally sequence the four synth parts of the SH-4d from the Electribe. I'll keep digging... Cheers!
This line of Joyo pedals need an ir. They are preamp pedals, not amp sims. They were originally advertised as preamp pedals.
iam gonna add tweeter to my combo map.. love the sound
Nice comparison. Jensen transformer is a lot better. Cinemag also has a good DI transformer.
my first real amp, around 1993, The GX-60 was awesome.
Did you make the jensen or order it?
Passive instrument into a passive DI, hmmm.
No matter what tweeter you use you will still notice the fact that the amp has an interactive tone circuit and no matter what type of speaker you tail on your cab you will get the high end hash associated with ss amps, digital is no better and coupled with more high end still sounds the same, unless you are dime bag playing anything from the cowboys from hell, which you as a player will ignore because of the factoid present in that man's chops.
Nice mod! And this is how Boss is going to relaunch de FZ-2 wazza craft... Fellas, you better ditch your 90's pedals ASAP before they hit the fz-5 prices. 😂
Slt est t'il possible d'enregistrer une mélodie que tu fais avec le moog sur un pattern de la korg pour ensuite le faire tourner en boucle ?
Jensen Transformer doing Gods work...
He ripped into Voodoo Chile and I lost my damn mind. That's ok, he'll give it right back a-one of these days.
be cool if you could set up spark as a working vst in reaper

Can you point me to a site where I can order a switch to do the 1.5 fuzz mod?

excellent demo.....
Thank you for this vid, and the reddit link! Just ordered mine. Time to learn how to solder 😅
Ive got one modified one for sale too
@@lifeisfortytwo damn, i done went through all my Christmas money lol. Got a few new pedals, tons of strings, and a powersupply! How much do you want for a modded one? Just curious for future. Im awfullll at soldering 🤣
can you control the volumes of external devices from the Electribe ?
How were you able to get the blackout button to work on multiple banks? Are you setting the midi button to a unique setting like program change or something? In QLC+, a scene can only have one input channel. So how does your black out button send the same channel info from different banks?
just bought one second hand. can't wait for the thing to arrive. currently using a boss gt-10... i felt it was now time to get a decent tone. this unit seems to deliver quiet the bang for the buck. :)
Is there a lot of noise out of those Joyo pedals? Asking, cause u have a noise gate on..Actually i want them directly to a PA, so I'm kindof nervous that is gonna give a lot of hum, and thats what we don't rlly want
No more than a typical distortion pedal
Do you remember if it is able to do delay/reverb trails or the sound cuts off when switching presets?
switch presets reloads the entire signal chain - there is no persistence in "preset mode". However - it's possible to set it up in "pedalboard mode" with the amp loop and fx loop to (in one preset) to switch them on an off, as well as turn on/off delays and reverbs (or other assigned actions). In pedal board mode you get 5 toggles and they can be assigned to everything from gain, fx toggles, volume, amp loop, fx loop. The fx and signal chain IS persistent in this mode. That way, you can have a persistent effect without losing the trail. Using the 4 cable method correctly will allow you to run two amps in theory in one patch. Example would be like a 5150 III and your RP sim is some clean amp - one switch away from two drastically different setups.
@@frjhracingthank you very much! This is very helpful.
Can you assign samples to different midi notes on the same midi channel, so that you can play these sounds across the keyboard as one shots?
No
Thank you for this video I am considering getting one of these I just got to Orange supercrush 110 obase in the overdrive channel at all and I'm not a person that even likes a lot of bass but it's almost ridiculous so I'm looking for some thing they kind of kick it up and I was considering getting one of these
What a pain in the ass!! BOSS ME-50's Octave fuzz sounds 20x better to me
The Joyo amp pedals are not amp simulations. They are preamp simulations. Before they became popular they were advertised as preamps. Their website said they were preamps. That’s why they actually sound good with an IR. Without they still sound good. To my ears they were made for a good IR.
interesting, but everyone is saying that they have an always on built in Cab sim. so is this true or false?. because i want to know if i can plug one to a fx loop Return of an amplifier. the cab would be doubled. just like the IR pedal in this video is stacking with the built in joyo cab sim.
Sweet......awesome my friend 👍
Great guitar 🎸 playing sounds great nice job 👍😎🤘
Thanks for the video. It's perfect for shows where if it gets lost or stolen I won't care so much.
The importance of having a quality DI cannot be understated. Great comparison vid!
Night and day difference! Wow. Where can I buy the Jensen Transformer?
Do you need the ELCF, EMCF, DMCF, or the FLCF? What's your call sheet ask for?
Great mod and video! I’m super interested in the 1.5 mod. Would you mind sharing the schematics or perhaps some pics? Would really appreciate it! Cheers.

Make no mistake about , got one of these thensame one and its great used it with a full band playing metal with a orange amp and sounded great
just got one for like 30 $ second hand havent plugged it in yet im excited
I used to build speakers many years ago and used piezos in some of them. They are a very high frequency transducers, more like super tweeters. I suggest adding resistors or an adjustable L-pad in series to adjust the volume of the tweeter directly, independent of the amp's tone stack. I have thought about doing this and having the piezo face back against the wall, to eliminate some of the harshness but still add some high end which is useful for many things.
thanks a lot for the pathces! God bless you
Which is the capacitor for the octave mod? can you help me to mod it?
you probably know this, but i think you can use the microkorg to input the notes for all 3 devices if you switch from midi channel 1 to midi channel 2 to midi channel 3 (one channel for each of the 3 sounds). usually playang a keyboard is easier than using the e2 pads. in fact you can do this for all 16 channels on the e2 including drums - although about half or more of the 16 are just drum sounds usually.
I bought a second hand SQ80 yesterday. It initially worked fine, just with a dim screen. However, after a couple of hours it switched itself off and wouldn't power on anymore. Is that likely to be the CMOS battery or something else? They're pretty hard to find nowadays so I hope it can be fixed.
Hi, looking for X-Edit download for rp1000. Cant find anything. Any help please?
Nicely done! You made an already fun, versatile (and affordable!) fuzz even cooler. 😊 🎸
There's also a backwards electrolytic in the octave that has to be replaced with a bipolar. Best to replace all the electrolytics in the signal path with bipolar electrolytics.
