United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 พ.ค. 2016
The Tenchfishers have a heritage going back to 1954 and are in fact one of the oldest single species groups. Today the group still pursues specimen fish but the traditionalist and the pleasure angler, who have a sustained interest in tench fishing are just as welcome.
We are organised by region across the country, each region headed by an RO (Regional Organiser) so you will have a number of local tench anglers to meet immediately on joining us. We have a wealth of tench angling experience in the group that we are only too happy to share with our members.
The Tenchfishers are seeking new members nationally who are interested in furthering their knowledge of this sporting species. Members will receive a regular professionally produced bulletin, a chance to attend our "fish-ins", have access to our web forum, compete for trophies and much more.
For information about joining the group please go to www.tenchfishers.com

Kevin please tell us what make an size of swivel actually is a snug fit in hole for bolt rig for tench ???? Also those turbo beads your using do not fit into the hole , iv tried them , please explain the connector in relation to the hole please. I good idea of mine is to fill feeder with maggots , an then put a method ball around the feeder it's deadly . I would suggest to korum they add outer fins to feeder to help the mix grip better.
Well done John, David would be proud to see you carrying this on!
Great interview daff with gary👍
Great work Peter! I totally agree about the the lack of good options for specialist anglers. For those without your skills (me...) the Fox Carpmaster STR sling might be of interest. I looked at loads before buying one last year and chose it because it is smaller than most, is well designed and is of good quality. Its still a fair bit bigger than your impressive adaptation though. I like the size of the Fox for big barbel but it is a bit OTT for tench (whist being perfectly usable).
Would it be possible to have the conversion chart please. Cheers
Hi - you can find one at support.mightymerchant.com/ounces-to-decimal-conversion-chart
Tench ? Very few tench waters left , due to heavy stocked carp waters / Breeding carp farms . Australia got right , Charlie carp fertiler sold supermarkets . Illegal return carp . Tench are native species need protection
Fantastic interview 👏 thanks Gary and Daffers 😊
Though I mostly Carp fish now, Tench are still my favourite species. Never fished Sywell, probably will this week though. Some nice Tench waters around here.
@@NeneValleyFishing Good luck if you do decide to give it a go. It’s not an easy venue due to its size but if you can find the fish you have a good chance of catching them.
@@TenchfishersTV size isn't really an issue, fished a few 50+ acre pits in my time, the weed used to put me off. Used to jog around it twice when I played football 10yrs ago. Don't know if the Tenchfishers have tried Grendon but I've had a few doubles out Ellie lake, decent Tench in there.
What test curves were being used and tested throughout this video such as 4:32? I'm looking to buy myself a pair of tench, bream and pike rods and undecided in what test curves I go for. 😊
@@connorcgs best test curve will depend on the type of fishing you are doing really - how big the fish you are trying to catch are, how far you need to cast and how weedy the lake is. 1.75lb is common amongst tenchfishers (for tench and big bream) as they are strong enough to cast a loaded feeder comfortably up to around 80 yards and will handle the odd rogue carp that will inevitably pick up your tench or bream baits occasionally. If you need to fish at longer range than this or if you are fishing in very weedy lakes then stepping up to 2 or even 2.25 tc will help you get that extra distance in the cast of r cope with weed in the line when playing fish. If you are fishing smaller ponds with a stock of fish up to 5-6lb then you could comfortably go down to a 1.5 tc rod.
@@TenchfishersTV I'm only fishing small lakes and canals, the most ill probably cast is around 50-60 yards but that is rare. The lakes are a little weedy but not severe, and the tench go to 11lb and bream to 17-18lb, not sure on the like front. I have got a drennan specialist 1.25lb was thinking of getting another so I have a pair then use them for it, would this be too light though? 😁
So humbled to have been involved in this short film ❤
What a lovely video. People like David and the members of tench fishers and similar gross who work so hard for the benefit of others are the real reason why i love fishing so much. Its a solitary sport mostly but at the same time it's just a huge caring community.
A fabulous venue and a fabulous group of dedicated anglers. Well done to the Tenchfishers!
Fantastic and very moving well done team ❤
Dont make the mistakes ive made.. buy scales that go alot higher than you think you may need or you will go to weigh a fish of a lifetime and it comes up 4 dashes... that was miserable 😂
Did anyone catch the name of the scales?
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185118064826?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=dhYXPBQgS3i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=m1l0RljiRM2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP Note that they are very accurate scales but they weigh in decimal points of a of pound, so you need to multiply the numbers after the decimal point by 16, to convert to ounces. Eg. 7.75 lbs is 0.75 x 16 = 12 ounces, so the weight is 7lb 12 oz.
@@TenchfishersTV excellent. Thanks for the heads up.
Brilliant video, some fantastic tench right here
Thoroughly enjoyable video nicely explained
Congrats wyn well deserved matey
Once again fantastic competition great organisation at a stunning venue well done to everyone involved congratulations WYN great result 🎣🎣
Does Oxlease get very weedy? Thinking about a session down there in the next month or so
It varies year to year but at the moment the weed is not bad and you wouldn’t have any problems finding fishable areas. Just remember that tench love the weed so find it and you will likely find tench nearby. Good luck!
Can anyone that is a member fish this event?
@@mattbarnicoat it’s a rough 50:50 split each year between Tenchfishers group members and non-members so any tench angler can apply to participate.
Great video, super fish handling and care, The Tenchfishers plus Linear Oxlease showcases big pit tench fishing at its best
Great video paul really enjoyed watching it ,im going to join the tenchfishers membership in the next couple of days 😀 👍🏻
Fantastic video Paul once again you do great service to our group Some lovely tench caught and some nice bicatch species also ❤
Cheers Alan. Too many greedy carp really but to be expected i guess when fishing a venue with 1600 carp in it! 😐
Like many others, I have really enjoyed these vids, brilliant idea, thanks for sharing.
Whafs your opinion on Korum hooks for Tench ?
Kevin Durman, a Korum sponsored angler and former Tenchfishers membership secretary, recommends and has used Korum Specimen hooks in size 10 to land tench in excess of 11lb
Awesome instructional video, really clear demonstration - thanks very much for sharing.
I have found that there are many makes of float stop that slide very easily along the line therefore making a very safe top stop. This looks great and functional though I still think you can simplify the rig using rubber stops as long as you select them well ensuring you have easy slide stops. In fact I use the same rubber stops you have there, I get them from Ali express, on 8lb mainline they are perfect to get a hook up but also slide away safely if I get a break. I guess I'm asking .. are we over complicating this?
I joined last week, no big Tench waters here in Devon however we try. I did request to join the Facebook page but I have yet to get a response. Looking forward to meeting some of you.
Welcome to the group! I’ll pass your note about the FB group to the admin…
Excellent delivery Pat well done buddy
As has been said above, these tackle box talks are brill. Every one of them is different. Pat did a fantastic job here, and from the films i have seen, he is a phenomenal angler too. I'll be joining soon. I'm in Shropshire, which region does this fall under, and are there many Tenchfishers members in my locality? Its good to see more content folks. Bravo!! 👍🏻🎣💥
West Midlands region for you and yes there are number of members in the region
Top man Darren, his bait has help me break my PB Barbel 3 times.
Really appreciate these tackle box videos. I have learned some really useful things from them. Thanks
Thanks for the nice feedback. Hoping to upload a few more in due course. Watch this space…
great video Pat very well presented
Paul, its possible to create a tapered bump in leadcore by threading in another folded over length of seperate lead core outer inside using a latched needle. If you fold it over by 1/3 (to a 2/3 tail) ratio and pull that inside the leader; the bump will be tapered. Now thread a hard bead on to rest on the 'bump' then the hooklength, then using the latch needle pierce a rubber bead sideways and thread that on to act as the top bead..... This creates a perfectly safe helicopter/chod rig every time. If you want the top bead to be more secure you can position another single thickness piece of seperate lead core just above the position where the top rubber bead will be (i use a sewing needle for this). I carry several of these leaders made up but without the beads (just the lumpy leadcore leader). The top rubber bead pulls off after a tiny bit of initial resistance, very very easily.
I use the ESP leadcore heli-rigs for my chods and when tested the top bead does release easily with a low amount of pressure. They are pretty good kits. However, yours is a really interesting idea that I shall play with. Thanks
Note.. to get the lower hard bead on (over the loop) you will need to use a doubled over length of mono. To get the splice/bump in, the lead in that area (only) needs removing. Its fairly easy using the hook on a latch needle, to hook it up and pull a couple of inches of lead out. The leadcore expands (and gets shorter) when you put the needle in to facilitate all these operations. Make the length of the area you push the needle in /remove the lead, just a bit longer than the doubled up splice. When the latch and the end of the splice emerges, unhook the splice and stretch the outer braid to cover the emerging splice. It sounds complicated but its really not.
What make is the main tackle box?
Fox tackle box (medium)
I'm on my way over to your channel now.
Fantastic video I appreciate you doing this, really a great insight to how each angler approaches their fishing. Like the idea of the multi rig, something I'm going have to look at.
Hoping to upload a few more like this in due course. It’s a nice idea. Thanks!
Great Stuff Tony , I will 100% be trying that rig. Many Thanks for the info👍
Seen this one before. Fantastic "how to" film
A re-release of a classic :)
When I was young Tony lived in the Anglers Mail ... 🌞🎣🎣🎣
fantastic insight gents. I was wondering if you could possibly do a video covering maybe a look into one or two of your tackle boxes ( end tackle kit you'd take on a typical session ) Would be a nice chance to get a Bit more of a breakdown on end tackle you use, little rig bits and pieces. Thanks Guys
A nice idea! We will see what we can do…
Fascinating bit of angling history. Thanks Darren and Mark!
Which way round does the chod bead go? Sorry inexperienced.
The bead that pops off the stem goes at the top end towards the rod tip, not the bottom end towards the hook.
Much appreciated! Cheers. Good channel.
Interesting video, great bait (Tinca Berry) and a smashing guy .
Darren's 'Big cheese' base mix and flavour has revolutionised my Chub fishing the past two winters . 🌞🎣🎣it's an amazingly easy to use and catches me lots of fish 😊
It's good stuff. His Tincaberry boilies do the job and I have caught many of my largest barbel on his baits too. A great bait manufacturer. The Tenchfishers are very happy to have his generous support.
Cracking video paul some lovely tench there,I can’t wait to give it a go🎣👏👏🙂
Thank you Paul. Its going to be a very interesting adventure and thanks again for the invite...
Just one question. My pellet expander won’t open up the beads without them flying off ! What make is yours. It may have smaller prongs.
Try pushing the bead a little further up the prongs. If you still struggle I can give you details if another softer bead.
@@chrismckechnie1911Chris. no luck with the expander. Can you recommend softer beads or I notice your band expander has smaller end prongs.
Fox 6mm soft rubber beads. Dead easy to open.
Well done Peter.
This is well timed as I want to fit a Fuji reel seat to my normark rod.
