    Nice match, you two had some pretty close games. Just a tip on your serve if you'd like. The idea is to first, before anything, achieve a full arm swing by taking the arm and shoulder through its full range of motion. First priority is to get from the starting internal shoulder and arm rotation("The Trophy Pose") to full external rotation("The Racquet Drop"), then full extension & internal rotation while wrapping around the body, similar to any throwing motion. A huge key is never allowing wrist extension("The Waiter's Tray Serve") or flexion. Also, most players swing around and forward, not realizing even a decent serve is an upswing. I'm an independent biomechanics & strength conditioning coach specializing in serve analysis btw. Make sense? What do you think? Let me know if you try it out.

    • @haeseongmoon7895
      @haeseongmoon7895 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah thanks for the comment! I'm working on serve with coach, but not confident on using it on my match yet. I’ll try as you said (upswing which my coach also mentioned and about the wrist). Thank you so much!

    Tough loss, but good training as a practice match. I think a pattern you could run against him next time is once you get your backhand decently cross court, go inside in at a safe margin to his forehand. If you notice, every time you got a good shot that made him uncomfortable on his FH side, he would slice it back to you. After that inside in of good quality, sneak in around the service line then volley cross court to his backhand and wait for his lob. I'd rinse and repeat that play and you will win 1 and 1 next time against him. Another decent strategy is to throw in your heavy high topspin straight down the middle of the court. If you see him taking it around his shoulder, he's going to hit short on you and from there you can approach or hit your FH angle like you did at the two minute mark. Your opponent is strong and will get to many shots, but I think you have more tools than he does especially with your forehand. I'm playing this weekend and I will try to upload some of my play, I just need to get SwingVision once it is available on android.

    It's cool to watch your journey. You and I have similar styles. I am sending this match for one of my students to study so he can see the value of spin. When you analyze this match, I would count how many times your forehand made him hit short on you and you won the point. I counted at least 8 or 9 points that went your way since your opponent had trouble handling your spin. Your point around 8 min to 8:14 mark was a thing of beauty. When there aren't any guys that can beat you in the 3.5 league, you'll know it is time to move up. Took me 3 years to break out of 3.5 (after almost quitting losing 9 matches), but I had multiple bagels and breadstick wins in 3.5 as I improved. It was a great feeling getting that official 4.0 rating by the computer :) Great match footage and thanks for posting!

      Happy to help. I still have A LOT of improvement to make in my game, but playing 3.5 in Columbus I learned a few strategies that made me the top player in the league before I got rated up. My proudest achievements have been winning a 4.5 doubles and 4.5 Singles match after nearly quitting the game in 2018 because I lost so much at 3.5. I just love to see dedicated players making that journey, because I don't care what anyone says, overcoming demons at 3.5 to get rated up is not easy@@haeseongmoon7895

  • @ryancheng2552
    @ryancheng2552 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you were looking for any tips on how to deal with those slices, then I have a few things I would suggest trying! Your opponent's most difficult shots seemed to be slices from shoulder-height, mostly on the forehand but definitely on either side. This was happening both on serve and during rallies. Even if it loses pace, you'd get a lot of value if you could focus your serves and groundstrokes onto his backhand, and try to keep the ball low and/or short! You seemed to win a majority of the points where you sliced against him, and even more when you brought him further into the court. Secondly, because he's slicing the ball, you have a little more time to position after the bounce. It seems like you aren't quite comfortable with positioning for slices just yet, so you might want to try not quite planting your feet so much before the bounce. This will give you a moment longer to react to the direction of the ball and make better contact with it. If you're ever in the Irvine area, maybe we could play a practice match sometime!

    • @haeseongmoon7895
      @haeseongmoon7895 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn this is so good thanks! I noticed that when I sliced against him it worked better than any of my other shots, but I only realized later part of the second set. This was because I was very skeptical about my slices compared to him. I played this guy before and at that time I won not using sliced(didn't know how to do slice then) so I thought I could win if I do the same bit it was wrong. And I think your comment about the feet plating makes sense. I will keep that in mind when I face other slices. Thank you so much. I wish I can play with you sometime.
