I only cared for Raymond Burr in Rear Window. I thought Perry Mason was corny. And Ironsides was laughable. But in Rear Window he was excellent. Wish they would have given him more villain roles.
I watched Perry Mason as a youth. It was a prerequisite for living in my home. My father was an attorney - all 6'5" , 275 pounds of him. His "lawyer" attire was, like Burr's, a charcoal suit, crisp white shirt, solid tie and polished wingtip shoes. Very intimidating! To this good day, I cannot hear the "Park Avenue Beat" song [theme for Perry Mason] without getting goosebumps. A haunting melody. Good interview! Thanks for posting it.
If you listen to the people who worked on Perry Mason, they said the set was FUN. Everyone having a great time, talent in every direction, beautifully scripted and executed and they all loved every day. Could there be another Della, Paul Drake or Perry than those who were cast? Perfection.
Raymond Burr was a great actor but a dull guest. Carson is such a great host you hardly notice how dry Burr is but you can tell by how hard Johnny is having to work.
Just started watching perry mason, a show that started before my dad was born Sublime performance from raymond, the way he carries himself onscreen - harrowing indeed
Love Raymond Burr, the world seemed a safer and fairer place when Perry Mason was at work. More than once he had to ask Paul Drake for a dime to make an important phone call. Also kills me that when Tragg is at a suspects home he has to ask permission to use their phone before he takes the " downtown.
Raymond Burr was a truly brilliant actor who had few equals in the acting profession. I don't think he ever made a bad performance in anything he ever appeared in.
RIP.❤ Raymond Burr. Best hours of entertainment this wonderful actor gave us. I have seen all the episodes of Perry Mason and still I don't get tired of watching. So many wannabe attorneys were inspired by this show: Very few show the empathy that he demonstrated. However, I have met and worked with many that show the qualities and they all have said when they saw this show as kids inspired them to become good attorneys. ❤
Recently found out the great Raymond Burr was gay. 35 years with his partner Robert Benevides. Hidden ‘marriage’ - I’m glad he wouldnt have to hide this if he were alive today.
Started watching Perry Mason as a kid with my mom! I can’t explain how much I love this man’s acting! The way he takes a quick short deep breath before speaking fascinates me! Been watching the reruns for decades! Just watched part of an episode on lunch break today! No lie! I’m ALL in with Raymond Burr! 😎
It's sad that they had a falling out over Carson's constant fat jokes. Burr had such gravitas... love his booming voice.

NEVER KNEW THAT HE WAS GAY.
I WISH JOHNNY HAD ASKED HIM TO DESCRIBE THE 3 CASES HE LOST ON PERRY MASON ?

Everyone over a certain age recognizes that voice.
Class acts through and through. If only modern people could have such class.
Mr. Burr is a tremendous actor but without a script he is not exactly a ball of fire. I am a little suprised.

Regarding the ad that came on before the youtube video. Nobody is ditching their auto insurance for any other alternatives. Nobody.
Ray appears uncomfortable.
After seeing Robert Klein many times on tv, I saw him at the IMPOV in Washington , DC.

The one and only Perry Mason and Ironside.❤
The performer..appearing in the scene with Ray Burr..is a character actor that I met in NYC..years ago..Robert Loggia.
Ray Collins had pure photographic memory. And I’m sure Raymond Burr was not too far behind.
RAYMOND BURR. LEGEND. SUPREME MAN. ACTOR AMAZING. CANADIAN BORN
Impeccable actor. The GOAT
Raymond Burr was a Homosexual - his career - similar to Rock Hudson and the like was secretive in his real life.
Who was woman on before him?
Still enjoying a marathon of reruns almost daily in 2024. ❤
Normally, there is the date of the show! Who knows what was the date of this one?
I read something about how Raymond Burr didn't like Johnny Carson. Anyone know about that?
There is a treasure trove of Raymond Burr's skill on classic radio episodes.
America's most famous lawyer was a Canadian.
Love Raymond

This video shows Raymond Burr the way I liked him at the peak of his manhood: CLEAN-SHAVEN, HUSKY, BEEFY and BURR-LY!

* before he takes them " downtown"
He keeps grabbing for his ring finger
One of the best actors interviewed by The King of Late Night!
Iconic actor, Raymond Burr is class.
Love this actor and any of his roles. Would love to just sit and visit with him.❤

Ray could have passed the bar exam no sweat.

I still watch Perry Mason practically every day at 70 years old.
Boring interview with an obviously reluctant guest !

I watch it every night on Amazon Prime. My parents watched it when I was a kid.
ROBERT LOGGIA
Aww ray "we won't make it "
Love the gay actor, Raymond Burr.
One of the greatest actors ever his performance in Perry Mason Has to be one of the most unbelievable feats ever in the acting world so to speak.
