It can't be that, either you're checking it wrong. or there is some other problem. When you're testing the leads, flex them around, there must be a point where they disconnect. You could, in the end, have a faulty motor.

@@how_its_doneresponse from motor is same as when one connector from motor to esc is disconnected. I tested motor with another esc same result. Esc worked fine with other motors.I used multimeter continuous test for testing connections. Any guess on the fault? Thnx

If you mean the whole module that I changed. then I guess you can just call it "complete gear housing" cause I really do not know what it's actually called. When I was out hunting for gears to do this job, all I found was Chinese gears, those might not have been compatible. Then I went to a camera shop and asked the repair guy for the gears, he didn't have it too but had this complete module, which I bought and replaced. @@how_its_done u see my friend was using my camera canon 600D in auto focus mode and many times unknowingly he turned right to left through his hand holding the lense trying to get focus has it is already in auto focus mode. Center it and try focusing. Try to hear for grinding kind of a noise. The lense should try to move to focus. If that happens and it does not, you surely have a strip gear. And the only way to confirm that is to open the lens.

F12 full injection 3 how are you playing it? What player are you using? Are you playing it on your phone or pc? What's the file format? Do you get any error when the file can't be played?

And the next time it again stop, check if it's on the same marker, if not then mark again, That way we can pin point if it's always happening on the same location. You could have 1 or multiple stripped teeth on the gear or possible dirt. Though dirt in there is the least expected.

Well, it's normally called a Flex Cable, take a snapshot and print it, so you can show it if required.

i mean a cant hear any noise when i focus in to my subject and its only going clockwise and not refocusing back and i think my motor is the problem how can i fix that? thankyou

the manual focus is ok but the auto focus is only rotating clockwise and thus not rotate counterclockwise or refocus so i have to put it to manual focus to refocus my subject.

Most probably the teeth on your gear is broken. You should try focusing manually and try feel if the lens sticks at any point. you could also try rotating the focus ring in manual mode and then shift to AF. See if it rotates.

+DDesigner VSpin When you focus to a different area, do you feel the lens try to focus ? You hear anything? Most probably your lens is stuck on a broken tooth. Try the pull method see if that fixes it. If not then maybe open the cover and check the gear. Just be careful when you open the lense and use the right size screw drivers.

Sounds like electric issue. Try cleaning the metal stuff at the bottom of the lens.

Well it sounds like the sand is in there and it's getting in between the gears at times. When you're on MF and turn the focus ring, do you feel it any harder to turn ? It could also be that the sand stripped gears in the lens. I would suggest you follow the video till 6:40 and hold the lens with the open side facing the floor and give it s gentle shake, keep a black color paper or cloth under the lens to see if any sand comes out. If yes, then try shaking it out the lens, and while you're doing that, you could try very gently rotating the focus ring, it goes without saying that you should have your focus switch to MF. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Richard, When you're on AF, does the ring rotate all the way? Try focusing on objects at different distances. This way the focus ring will get a chance to rotate to its full circle. And if there are stripped teeth, the lens would either get stuck or you'll hear the gear slipping. Other thing I can think of is that the switch is not working. You're switching to MF but internally it's still stuck at AF, hence the grinding noise or possible stuck position. Try focusing and when the focus gets stuck hold the outer focus ring and pull on it, but gently, if it's a alignment problem it'll go back into place. Please keep us posted.

I put the lens AF on, I move it and it suddenly hear the "gear teeth sound" and gets loose. If the camera focus by itself it works fine. The switch it's working. When I put AF the ring is strong and tight, on MF it is loose, but it get stuck and you can hear the sound. I think it's an alignment problem but I don't know how to fix it.

+Richard Mumford If you doubt it to be a alignment problem, then try the pull trick to fix. You might just get lucky. When it's stuck. Pull on the outer ring, gently. It could just pop in place.

Well that's not true. Not everyone has a heavy pocket. For me I repaired it cause I wanted to. DIY is always the way to go for me.

Aj Qureshi It doesn't focus on the object. The focus ring rotates about few degrees and stop.

+SHASHANK C It could be one of the two things. 1. A stripped gear, so your focus ring gets stuck while focusing. 2. A stuck gear. To troubleshoot : 1. Move the switch to MF and manually rotate the focus ring slowly and try to feel if it sticks at any point. 2. Rotate the focus ring at any direction, then move the switch to AF and try again focusing. Your focus ring should stop at a point where it cannot move anymore. Mark this position in the focus ring with a pencil. 3. Again move the switch to MF and rotate the ring at any random direction. 4. Then again nice the switch to AF and try focusing again and see if the ring stops at the same position marked in step 2. If it the focus ring stops at the same point it could very much be a stripped gear. And you will have to either change the gear or charge the module. Whatever you can get your hands on. You could also try the pull to fix method. If you're lucky you might get it working. 1. Move the focus switch to AF and try focusing. Once the focus ring stops. Hold the outer side edge of the ring and very carefully pull out in the ring. Be careful doing this. You can also pay it in and pull out again. If it's stuck anywhere internally. This sometimes helps. By doing this the internal gears re align. If you're lucky it'll work. Give it a shot. Aj

+Zel Ezl Well if you've not done any repairs of any kind on any equipment, then ya you'd be better of going to a repair shop, else you'll do more harm.

+Carlos I got it from a local camera repair shop. The guy there had one he pulled out of a original lens which went bust. Try your luck at your local repair shop. Or get only the busted gears of eBay. But don't go for the green ones.

Aj Qureshi , thanks I bought the gear assembly in Amazon. Pretty cheap 9 bucks or so. There is a key step your video doesn't show nor do others on the same subject. When putting the new gear box in, it is key that the mechanics of the AF/MF switch fit properly with the gearbox. Better shown than said :-). I almost batch the whole thing by assembling it all and discovering the AF/MF switch was stuck.

+Carlos Thanks for the update Carlos. But if u are replacing the complete module then you don't have to worry about the switch. As the switch does not need to be at a certain position while packing up. The switch works. It just shifts one of the gear from AF/MF. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.
