51 minutes in, and I am astounded. I've given up on the Met, silly productions and so much bad singing ( well, then you introduced me to Benjamin Bernheim!!!). I am afraid to imagine how this looks. I fear it takes place in Iran, 2019, with a fully black cast of Transgender people, etc. ....Blah, blah, blah.,...Yet, I know a few of the singers are not DEI. Thanks so much.

This is my favourite opera, thanks for the upload! I watched this production in a movie theater, but the 2021 Lyric Opera of Chicago's production is better.

Saw Sierra and Rucinski three times in Lucia at RoH this year. Xabier Anduaga who was Edgardo in two of those performances is PHENOMENAL. Still waiting for the opera world to catch up on him.

Elena does notable work here but the tenor‘s comparatively lyric voice has not the timbre or powerful sonority, IMO, for this role. A Nemorino instrument for Calif will simply not do. After some 50 years Corelli is still the champion, although Bonisolli certainly had his moments in the role but despite his awesome way with the high range in the role, he was far more indulgent & stylistically primitive than is suitable for this character. Are there any really first class Calif‘s around these days? If the MET cannot find one where might there be one?

I remember that Saturday afternoon listening live

One can see how she quickly created a large "hole" in the middle and going to the lower passaggio a great lesson in what not to do. Still, such thrilling singing! This performance I heard as a boy and it made me crazy to sing and learn about the voice. Bless her, forever, for giving us her singing.
