Assault horizon is fine if you treat it as completely unrelated to ace combat. Cartwheeling an apache out of the way of an RPG while showering a column of technicals with rockets was fun. So was covering the protagonist of some generic FPS with an AC-130 and the way the oil of the planes you’d just shot down spattered on your canopy like blood.

AC 6 is America vs Russia- I MEAN Ameria vs Estovokia

In ace combat 6 the mother arrives at the refugee camp at the border only to hear a Estovakia soldier come on the radio reveal that some school children survive and are still in the capital. The Estovakia soldier tells a little girl to come up who says Go dance with the angels, mister and kicks him in the shin causing the mother to realize that her daughter is alive. Although it is a war zone she starts to make her way back

Ace combat 6 is the war between Emmeria and Estovakia. After the planet fall Estovakia was left in ruins and a long civil war broke out ending when the generals took control. Despite to survive the Estovakian become convinced the only way to survive was with a military lead government control by the generals. The story is told by a mother who believes her daughter is one of the causalities however the story is also told via the said daughter who makes it to the castle and helps the resistance and both have a reunion at the end. You play as an ace called Guruda.

In the game they literally state that trigger was framed for the killing, I just wanna mention that
