can you show me how to download Aria Operations on the Broadcom site
You have to go to support.broadcom.com, create a login. It would require being part of a site which has entitlement to the product.
Why do we need an iso now? It used to just download from the update servers
The 'vCenter Lifecycle Manager Service' is different from the 'vSphere Lifecycle Manager Service', understand that can be confusing. The iterative patches for each respective version are still pulldown from the VMware repos, however when upgrading vCenter from U1>>U2>>U3, a new appliance is deployed and lots of the maintenance can be done in advance to save time, and the ISO is required for this kind of upgrade. when trying to pick the port-group that my other vcenter is in (it is an ephermeral type) it says the provided network name is not valid
Is this when selecting the PG for deployment of the new appliance, right? When connecting to your deployment target, are you connecting to vCenter or an individual host? I've not tested an ephemeral port, would have to test it.
Scrolling through all of these other videos but none that are just directly to the point of "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT" So i truly appreciate the time and effort sir! Thank you! I am also still seeing the weird bug in the console where it shows the "temp" IP/FQDN. Just updated from 8.0.2 to 8.0.3
Did you try rebooting the newly deployed appliance, I recall encountering that in my homelab as well with a previous 8.x upgrade.

I did an upgrade before, actually we had on some VMs with large Disks ( Elastik Stack ) a dropdown of almost 5 Minutes , so that is nothing to do on some break and on the fly ;) As a VSAN is "just" one Datastore that can happen, with other VMs there was just a small increase on Latency / CPU on our VSAN ESA ( 168 NVMe Disk ) .

Thank you for the great content. Is there VMware documentation outlining procedures for upgrading existing Enhanced Linked Mode vCenter VCSA appliances to a higher version (i.e. 6.7 to 7.0U2). I am assuming VAMI backups and VM snapshots would be a given, but I would like to see the documentation that is backed by VMware on these steps.
Appreciate the kinds words.. If looking for provided documentation directly from VMware By Broadcom, i would advise starting here. You are correct with pointing the obvious with VAMI backups and COLD snapshots ofcourse for all vCenters participating in ELM. Any considerations to keep in mind or recommended steps outside of cold vCSA snaps to take when upgrading v7 vCSAs to v8 in an existing ELM config?
Additional precautions I would take would be to configure file-based backup from the VAMI direct, running VCF Diagnostics Tool (VDT) kb.vmware.com/s/article/83896 on each of the vCenters for an additional health check. You can also monitor storage utilization from the VAMI. Also taking note of appliance sizing, i may be forgetting some stuff but those come to mind immediately.
@@vSargonKhizeran Thanks for the VDT tool suggestion. Lots of fails to research. One finding has resolved a proxy issue we've been fighting for awhile.
Do you have some Insight how the Reclaim Process is designed, currently there is a Bug reported to VMWARE , that under certain Circumstances a Lun ( iscsi ) will not unmap the Data.

Have you worked with VMware support to learn about a possible problem record? Thank You
@@vSargonKhizeran No we are still in the making and already at 3rd Level Programmer Level . Seems that on certain VMs ( Large Storage ( above 1,5TB ) the automatic unmap Process will stop ( Storage Lun lost connection after around 3 hours ) so that the VM is deletet from VMWARE , but there will remain "Pieces" as Junk on the Storage Lun . We demigrated a EMC Powerstore and ended up with 60TB still used on the Storagedevice after deleting all VMs ... Its a real nasty bug . You need to have insight in Storage AND vSphere to actually notice that Bug, Storage Planing is with such a Bug not nice. If you are aware , you are able to manually unmap the Storage , it will recycle the Data fully in contrary to the automatic process, with very high CPU Cycle .

Thank you kind Sir. I am running 6.6 and need to upgrade to 6.10. I had no clue which file to download, where to download, how to upgrade, what do check before upgrade and many more things. This video has given me some "insights" ;)
