      Yes i will pay the shipping send details to me at corsairf28r@yahoo.com . I have actually been looking to get another asymmetrical spinnaker. We are at 18ft 3 on the luff and 14 ft cant remember the leech on the foot there is room for adjustments. Was looking at Sailrite site for a kit that was a close fit to what i am using now. We use ours quite a bit and it is starting to look a little worn. I don't even know where i got the spinnaker that i am using now. The whole idea came up one day and i looked into my accumulation of sailboat stuff and that was just what was on hand. The furling genoa that Windrider was offering was quite expensive and did not look to be of good quality. Plus, you had to furl it every time you jibe /gybe a spinnaker seemed to be the better option. So, this has been a big experiment with many changes as we have been using it. We went from a sock to a launch bag (much faster deployment and retrieval). Routed the spin halyard around the trampoline to the aft cockpit. Added a couple of cam cleats now for the tack and spin halyard all lead to aft cock pit (will do a video for this as it would help to bring sheeting angles for the jib inboard and be able to add a line to hold the clew out when going downwind). This makes it so the spin can be launched when you are single handed from the aft cockpit.

      yes . It is still working i use it regularly . The first one i got crapped out but i took it back to Home Depot and they promptly replaced it.so when you get one run it in a bucket of water for a while to make sure there are no leaks into the tool. (no water got into where the battery is attached) I am still using the replacement scrubber with no problems. After i use it i undo the clamp that holds the battery in the watertight position so it will not ruin the gasket. I think that it could use a stiffer brush i was going to compare my brush to the one that comes with the nemo scrubber next time i see the diver that cleans bottoms at the marina. It works fine as is.

      love to use the spinnaker on the windrider 17 .at first the spinnaker was in a sock but that took to long to deploy and retrieve so i made a bag that we now use. halyard to raise and lower the spinnaker is also led back to the aft cockpit.

    • @luckyliftsailing1106

      Yes very good boats . Company should have made the boats open source and let the users modify /innovate and refine them to make them better. Why pay a research team when you can get input from the owners and then make changes to the boats in production. Spending all that money on the new RAVE was a waste of money if you could not get it to foil up wind. Should have made different rudder and dagger boards to replace foils for light air days when there was not enough wind to get the boat up on the foils. Getting rid of the forum was a big mistake in my opinion. Maybe the Windrider 17s will come back into production.

    • @TomKirkman1
      @TomKirkman1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@luckyliftsailing1106 The RAVE did foil upwind. But it had pitch problems just like all the foilers with the wand pitch control on the foils, instead of several feet in front like the Hobie/Ketterman TriFoiler (still the best foiler in the world).

    • @luckyliftsailing1106
      @luckyliftsailing1106 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a spinnaker not a code zero sail. The hound for the spinnaker is halfway between the top of the mast and the place where the stays attach. The bowsprit is made from a windsurfer mast and is supported by 3 wires . The stainless-steel tube (could have used aluminum) for the bowsprit is using the same attachment points as stock. I can lift the boat up at this tube it is way overkill. The spinnaker is probably the largest that you want to put on the 17. Everything for this spinnaker set up is from what i had around the house. I will do a video with the measurements there are some spinnakers that are on sailrite site that are close enough to work. Where you place the hound and the length of the bowsprit will determine the size of the spinnaker. We have been using the spinnaker in varying wind conditions and am happy with the performance that we have been getting.

    Are you worried about the stays/shrouds with the extra loading?

    • @luckyliftsailing1106
      @luckyliftsailing1106 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made new shrouds that are stronger.i have used the stock shrouds with the spinnaker .However I think the weak point now is at the attachment points to the hulls on the stock rental windrider 17 the white boat in the videos,the head of the bolts which have the shroud thangs attached sheared off.

    • @luckyliftsailing1106
      @luckyliftsailing1106 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have stronger shrouds already installed.I think the forestay maybe stock .I cant remember whether i had changed it out. Plans were to change the jib configuration to hank on or zippered luff We have used the main with the stock shrouds without any problems.The spinnaker puts more load on the rig than the main.We have been out in all wind conditions I think the weak point now is where the side stays connect to the hull.We now have over 500 miles on the main.See andrea frees you tube channel i think the one labeled oops,while sailing the rental white windrider 17 provided by sail honeymoon we had a side stay bolt fail where the stay is attached to the tang ,the head of the bolt sheared off..we had to tack and tie the shroud off ,this happened in light air.So this would be something to keep an eye on or replace periodically.I have not heard of any one mentioning this type of failure.A mylar sail is in the works now hope to be done with it soon .My primary boat is the Corsair F28r which we try and sail on the weekends when we are not racing around the Chesapeake Bay on our friends Tartan 37.I always have a lot of projects going on.

      Sorry for the very late reply .Tried one rudder out thought we were getting good results but it sheered off because rudder post was not filled with epoxy and the extra torque from the more efficient foil caused it to sheer . Will fill the second rudder post that was made and continue to test. I have to many projects going at the same time. We sail several boats and try to keep them all maintained ,New trampolines for both the Windrider 17 and the Corsair F28r completed. Started to refurbish another Windrider17 and a Windrider 16.

      We have been using the new main sail now for a year and have sailed over 500 miles with it.the sail seems to work well .hoping to do some more side by side testing .planning on a Mylar version of the sail. As far as the rudder goes I did not fill the painter stick that I used as the rudder post completely with epoxy and it sheared off at the hull line.but before it sheared off the boat was very responsive.i have not had time to get back to the rudder.just holding the rudder into the wind you could feel the lift generated by the improved shape. we have acquired a third windrider 17 blue in color that needs repairs.the boat filled with water while on the storage rack and the area where the cross beams were at ripped the plastic apart as well as the tabs were bent to the main crossbeam.the foam bulkheads under the floorboard has come loose and need to be reinstalled.i have a video of cutting the stock rudder in half to show why the rudder fails and a possible fix for the stock rudder. Our primary boat here in Virginia is th Corsairf28r which also requires maintenance. The summers are full of sailing activity for us as we race on a tartan 37 on Wednesday night's and some weekend races through out the warmer months here on the lower Chesapeake bay..in late November or December and end of May we sail the windrider 17 in Dunedin Florida just north of Clearwater. I am always working on some sort of sailing project..the windrider 17s are the most bang for the buck . Had family emergency this summer and spent 10 weeks down in Dunedin with a few chances to sail a friend's windrider 17 off the Dunedin causeway so now I am trying to catch up on the projects that had to be put on hold.

      @@luckyliftsailing1106 Good to hear you're still out there sailing! The last year and a half, radio silence can be disconcerting. Thanks for the updates as well. That blue Windrider 17 sounds like a tough one. The good part about rotomolded is how abrasion and collision resistance it is. The bad part is making lasting structural repairs can be sketchy.

    • @luckyliftsailing1106

      The rudder post i used was fiberglass and should have been filled with epoxy to make it solid .In light air it seemed more responsive but with the extra lift from the foil shape it twisted off when the wind picked up. We lost that rudder but have another ,just have not had time to go back to it. Disadvantages of the longer rudder are it will now catch crab pot lines ,you have to be very careful when you launch the boat and move the boat around on the beach.

      Not much you can do for the upwind performance for the Windrider 17 other than rake the mast back a little more.The center hull shape tends to make the boat not as streamlined as you are sitting inside instead of on top.The hull could have been narrower if you sat on top like the Weta .
