That was not the end of the show. Purple Rain at this concert is the best version I ever heard.

A cover song of Prince’s brilliantly written song that was released on his 3rd album and first masterpiece, Dirty Mind, in 1980. His version is far superior as coming from the male perspective. But he liked Cyndi so she’ll get a pass. It’s a cool version. Nobody Prince. 💜💜

Allegedly the version of 'I Would Die For You' that's on the album is a live recording.

In 2018 I had tickets to see her with Rod Stewart, but he had a throat issue and she wasn't available to reschedule.🥺 I was primarily going to see her with him as gravy. 🤩🤩 Deep cut

The thing I find funny yet so quintessential in Prince was his little tricks & game's he played on fans at times in his music & lyrics on songs. For example the song right here "I Would Die 4 U." I remember back in the day when the DJ's first started spinning "I Would Die 4 U" in the clubs. Myself & a few other big fans of Prince already knew the devious game he was playing on the public while many had no clue. I'd stand at the bar smiling at people on the dance floor having a good time with their GF/BF dancing & professing their love to each other by singing the chorus & doing the hand gestures like Prince did in the movie Purple Rain. Yet, as much as they were into the jam the majority of people had no idea what the song was really about. Prince secretly succeeded the deed he set out to do with his song, "I Would Die 4 U." While he sent out a message on the power of God. He also had millions of people out there dancing on a Friday/Saturday night who were happy & spreading the love for at least a few minutes dancing to his song. I think Prince and the Revolution was more colorful with their expression than prince and power generation which was more funkier and refined.

I would recommend live performances from his 1985 Syracuse concert like "Let's Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain". His cover of "Motherless Child" is worth checking out, as is his cover of "Crimson and Clover" from the Ellen show.

I saw this show 3 times and saw him a total of 17 times. He truly was a ONCE artist.

In 1978 she was singing in a cover band (and yeah, singing Joplin songs) and she absolutly blew out her voice. Doctors told her she would never sing again. She found a voice teacher named Katy Agresta who rebuilt her voice and tought her how to protect it. She still works with Katie these many years later. So, the result is: Lyric soprano, four octives, C3 -C7 ( Although she always says "four octives on a good day"), "perfect pitch", whistle register, and don't forget the vibrato. Beyond that, she brings all kinds of flourishes to her performance, both subtle, and not so subtle. Cant recommend the video "Cyndi Lauper, Best Live Vocals" enough. She covers so much ground, and it always sounds good.

There are other videos of her from this time with the band. She was so raw then. I love her first solo album but she was so rockus and free before the big labels got on board.

A lot of people just don't realize just what a great voice she has because she normally don't show this in most of her hits.

She performed this song at the Glastonbury festival this year. Tomorrow I'll be going to see her at Rock in Rio here in Brazil
