Papa Bear Off-Road, is about a mildly built Jeep Wrangler JKU, doing easy to moderate trails. Also, we share our traveling experiences.
S. Higgins Lake-Stratford Trail. Easy Scenic Route Gets Super Narrow. Pin Stripes are Unavoidable.
A nice day trip in Northern Michigan. Beautiful trails turn tight with limbs and branches. Not the best trail if you're in love with your paint job.

Michigan Jeep Recovery, has a Facebook page where stuck or troubled vehicles can post their need for help. I saw a post that was not too far away so took a ride to see what we could do. We found a Ram 4X4 deep in a ditch.

We had a great time driving these trails. Most of the trails are not hard so almost any 4wd vehicle can easily travel in this area. Be prepared to see tons of SxS's, motorcycles, and quads. Over all this is a fun place to visit and it's only a couple north of Detroit.

Bundy Hill has a lot to offer those that love four wheeling. Our Jeeps pull a quad from some sticky mud. The hills, mud, sand, and tight trials will keep your interest all day. We go out with our daughter, son-in-law, and the grandsons to have a little with our Jeeps.

We drive the Evert-Sunrise Trail on an unusually warm February day. The trail is loaded with puddles and tons of mud. This is 3 rated trail there's nothing really difficult.

Our drive to Hell, Michigan was fun. We take the backroads to enjoy the scenery along with way. The Hell Saloon has a great menu.

So many river crossings. The Decoy Magoffin Loop, is a nice trail in Breathitt County, Kentucky. This trail can easily be done in a stock 4X4. Beautiful scenery makes for a nice day trip.
Our First Jeep Trail Ride Days After Purchase

In December, 2022 we bought our stock 2014 JKU. A few days after purchase we took our Jeep to the Tin Cup, trail in mid Michigan. We had a great time testing our stock Jeep on the trails

This video was taken during the MOJO club's 2024 New Years Day drive. The hilly, mudding, and rocky trials in SE Ohio, are amazing. Join us on this ride as we journey through the numerous obstacle along the trails. We successfully made it through the challenging terrain on these trails.

We visit the "wild" horses of Kentucky. These free ranges animals are amazing to spend time with. Even though they are living out in the open they are used to people and behaved very well. We had a very positive experience with these gentle giants. If you visit them please treat them with respect.

@@jamespeck2852 Yes, it’s state land. Seasonal roads and snowmobile/orv trails. They are on onX.

@@8lugoverlanding785 I can’t believe I didn’t catch the mistake. Fixed it for TH-cam but on Facebook the typo stays because the correction won’t show up. I am lucky we have a white Jeep. You’re right the pin stripes don’t show that much.

I wheel in that area alot. The trick is to get off of the main snowmobile trails and get far away from trail head parking areas. Taking the off chutes and misc two tracks gets you away from all the side by side tore up trails.

How high does your flag have to be? Are they required on most of the trails?
This exactly the type of riding we like to do. Michigan is so great for trail riding.
Beautiful country up there. We used to ride off road motorcycles on the marked single track out of Kalkaska toward Grayling in the '70's,'80's,'90's, it was a blast! How long was that trail? Is Dingman's bar still up there?
@@RonRussell-sj1zf We drove about 21 miles altogether. That was a combination of three trails and the connecting roads. I’m not sure about Dingmans. We had dinner at the Firehouse Grill. I used to have a rail buggy and did a lot of fire trails up by Indian River. You can spend days up north and never use the same trail twice.

@@roccodog5782 Nope, open diffs. Might do it in the future but I haven’t had any problems so far.
I got confused at the same spot, it clearly looked like the road went to the right but I soon noticed I was outside the onX green trail. I ended up going back out and picking up the trail after the three mud holes. I am a noob with a lifted Subaru and that hill to the left looked only wide enough for a quad and rutted out.

Thanks. Michigan Jeeps is easy to join. Just go to their Facebook page and ask to join. There are no dues. They go on group drives once a month.

Thanks for your content. Don't feel bad for your mishap. We're humans and we can do something a million times like back up our vehicle and still get it wrong once in a blue moon. I just de-rimmed a tire at The Mounds this past weekend. I was only there for maybe an hour. I did one trip around the outter loop that takes you to the parking lot, thought it was great and blew my tire off the rim on my second go round. Felt pretty silly, trip over. Oh well.
Thanks for your support. I was disappointed I did something dumb. But I got over it and continued the drive. Fortunately my wife is a good sport.

Bundy Hill is pretty cool. Did you watch the video I did? It was so windy that day. I want to go back on a calmer day so I can fly my drone.

Nice video. I was just on the opposite side of Michigan a few weeks ago up at Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Came up From Kentucky. Been wanting to hit up Holly Oaks for some time. Now that I've got my ORV stickers for Michigan, I've got the make a trip to Holly Oaks soon enough.

pretty gutsy going up the sand by the power lines no place to hook to. I'm wondering why consumers let some counties "ride" the power lines and some dont? Lake co. for instance you would get a ticket if you got caught. nice videoing and drone work.
I understand about the power lines. Honestly I made a calculated decision. As you a can the trail is well used and there was no posting to stay off. So we took a very slight chance.

The backroads to Hells, are just dirt roads. Any vehicle can drive them.

It’s one of the best formations. Well worth your time to visit.
Those look like nice trails. If y'all travel much an camp look into Land Between the Lakes rec area. Turkey Bay is a nice off road park but I stay out in the woods. The fire roads have awesome camping. See ya' in the Woods. ZZ.
The trails in northern Michigan, are mostly sandy. There can be deep mud holes here that will suck you down to your frame. We like Kentucky, trails because there’s a lot of climbing and descending steep hills. We drove at the Land Between the Lakes, last September. Such a beautiful area.
I like the look of that spot at 6 minutes in. Do you have a trail number or at least a rough location?
