    GW should not be immune to criticism, but they are far from the evil corporation that people make them out to be. For the most part, the company is actually made up of people who love this hobby as much as you or me. They are the leaders in the market, and that means they set the price at the top end of the market. As far as hobbies are concerned, it's very middle of the road. I come from motorcycle racing. It makes Warhammer look like pocket change. In ten years of Warhammer I haven't come close to spending what it costs for one season of racing. You have made a lot of good points, but I can understand why people get so passionate on the other side of the discussion. It's an amazing hobby, and my life is better because of it. Just found your channel. The content is top notch. Subbed. Thanks for sharing!!!

      Exactly! And I think it’s a shame that a lot of people forget that. Nice! I’ve got friends that used to be into racing too and I’ve heard how expensive it is 😂. And I think you raise a really good point because it’s all relative. Like I also keep reptiles and some invertebrates and the amount of money that costs in comparison to this hobby is also staggering. I totally agree with you in that I understand the passion on the other side of the discussion which in part could be argued why this hobby is so amazing. As a majority of the fan base really care for it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and listening to my ramblings! Oh and subscribing, it really helps 👍🏼

      @@AcrylicSpillis I think that a lot of people in the hobby still have a hard time separating this hobby from video games. Because of the economy of scale and having nothing tangible. Video games are a very cost effective hobby. But they are to the hobby world what McDonald's is to the restaurant industry. That's how I see it, anyway. Reptiles are cool. You need a licence to keep them in my country. So, I haven't really had a lot to do with them. I have a parrot, and he is super expensive. Totally worth it, though.

    I stumbled across your channel today via the Beastman video. It is refreshing to find a person with a great attitude...and logical thinking. We all have opinions with how GW operate these days, especially when we lived through how different things used to be so many years ago. I have been in the hobby since the late 90s, so has my husband. We have taken breaks here and there, but are now enjoying both AOS and 40k. We get to share the love of Warhammer with our almost 15 year old son! Yes Australian prices are very expensive, but we love the models, lore, settings, painting and fact that there are other people who play these games, so that a variety of events exist.

      Thank you ☺️ I’m exactly the same, I got back into the hobby about two years ago since last playing in the late 90’s. And that’s really cool that you guys play as a family 👍🏼 I’ve seen how much it costs over there! So fair play to you for sticking with it! It’s such a great hobby as there’s literally something for everyone.

      It’s amazing! Especially when I think back to the 90’s and the stigma (at least in the uk) that used to be attached to the hobby. If you don’t mind me asking, how popular is it over in Australia? As I imagine the high cost over there must be a stumbling block for a lot of people. Especially new hobbyists?

      @@AcrylicSpillis Australia suffers a little from everyone being quite far away from each other, but here near Melbourne this year our biggest tournament event (ark 40k) expanded into a much bigger ARCFEST last month. It's painting comp ArcOpen got bigger, and Age of Sigmar, Heresy and a couple of other game systems had events too. There have been more clubs, often running smaller tournaments too. The club we go to sometimes is open twice a week, they were saying they have had so many people recently, that they ran out of space, even with an overflow room out the back. The cost here may be pushing some to 3D printing and using One Page Rules...our local store owner says he is seeing less of customers that used to come in & buy Warhammer & he is one of the few places that still offers discounts.

  • @snesgamer1253
    @snesgamer1253 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Really nice video. This cleared a lot of things up for me, I was getting quite frustrated with some of the colouring. I was gifted Army Painter Speedpaints but I find they're a little too thin, even after arm-aching shaking of the bottle which I've seen people complain about with that brand. I have a question about primer since I don't see a lot of talk about it online - should I use a brighter primer like white if I'm painting something that's very bright like yellow for example? I bought ash gray primer and my colours like brighter/paler yellows are taking many many coats for the colour to stick. Thanks!

    • @AcrylicSpillis
      @AcrylicSpillis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much 😊 I personally haven’t used the army painter speed paints, but most of those paint ranges will be very thin no matter how much you shake them and the coverage depends on the colour as some are way more pigmented than others. So primers do make a massive difference to be honest and if you’re painting a model primarily yellow white will help you massively as the yellow will have better coverage. But I personally don’t like using just white as I basically use black for pretty much every model. This is because I like working from the shadows out to the highlights, if you know what I mean. But, if you’re going to be using speed paints exclusively it might be worth you trying zenithal highlighting. Which involves you priming the model in black all over and then white from directly above it establishes your shadows and highlights. If you then use your speed paints over that you’ll find it easier and you’ll see better results. And if you search “slap chop” you’ll see examples of people using that technique, unfortunately I haven’t got a video on it. And just so you know, yellow is a very tricky colour to use as it normally has less coverage than a lot of colours. So, you just need to take your time and build it up gradually to get your desired coverage. I hope that helps?

    • @snesgamer1253
      @snesgamer1253 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AcrylicSpillisThat's perfect. Thank you so much for that, I'll definitely try zenithal highlighting, and I'll look into slap chop as well. I had a feeling yellow might be one of those weird colours to get right. Thanks so much, that's given me a bit more motivation, it was becoming very deflating.

    • @AcrylicSpillis
      @AcrylicSpillis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Love the outcome of that base in particular! What kind of cat litter do you use that has those rockier chunks? (Not a cat owner myself) the kind I have to hand is super absorbent and tends to puff up when glued/painted--though I'm sure that's desirable for its intended purpose :)

      Thank you so much! It was a bit daunting as it’s my first video. But I’m glad you enjoyed it 😁 and I’m already working on my second. I’d just like to say thank you for your support as it means a lot.
