Elden ring duh

I have a lot of gamer friends and NONE of them like Soulslikes at all. Every time a new FromSoftware Souls game title came out, I tried to push it on them, no luck. I'm not one for tough games either, I rarely play games with difficulty higher than normal. Demon's Souls got me hooked regardless so many years ago. My next monumental task is to get 2 of my friends to play NightReign with me!

artstyle and atmosphere play a huge role. people want that gritty dark fantasy feel. gameplay is great too.

When I first heard of Dark Souls it was on TH-cam and gave the game a try thought it was cool, and then after playing a couple hours thought it was shittiest game ever never touched the game again because it was “Hard” or “annoying” yeah can you believe that, until 2016 my uncle taught me how to “Properly” play Dark Souls 3, like paying attention to a bosses fighting pattern, don’t be greedy, watch your stamina, all that changed how I played video games now and then I understood , and thus began my Soulsborne addiction and was very surprised everyone even new comers were intrigued with Elden Ring

Yes, great video! Not sure if you played Demons, Dark 1,2 Bloodborne then 3 in succession, one after the other we were under the impression that THIS was where From Soft was going to move going forward, this slower pace/have to kill most all the enemies type combat. We were just thrilled to get a NEW game. I really think Miyazaki was not prepared with American success with DS 1. Might have been unprepared and/or underfunded to do a second game. Also around this time, the PlayStation 4 & Xbox One were opening the doors to the quicker Bloodborne/ DS 3. This would make sense why the game was handed off to the two other Directors. As far as a more challenging game in DS 2, it also added some awesome innovations with new engine, bonfire ascetics, NG+ bonus invasions etc. I think DS 2 is one of my faves as far as that goes. Slower more methodical pacing with a large storyline. Thanks!

It’s a full standalone game, so you don’t need Elden Ring to play Nightreign, and it takes place in an alternate timeline so it doesn’t mess up the lore, and it’s gonna be like a rougelike game so after each run it resets. And it doesn’t seem like FromSoft to you is because it’s not Miyazaki directing it, it’s being directed by a first time director Junya Ishizaki who is directing a game he wants to make. Also, by the looks of the Cerberus boss, the Night Lords will be unique bosses

I think the rise in popularity for Soulslikes mainly boils down to the rise in popularity of FromSoftware themselves. They are the driving force behind the desire to create these types of experiences, and in the current state of the gaming industry, they’re one of the few studios at the top of the pile who’re consistently winning public favor. Sure, they take an L here and there - Elden Ring’s performance issues at launch, the recent “controversy” around Nightreign having elements of certain trendy genres that people are sick of - but in the bigger picture you’ll see that reception is still overwhelmingly positive. The genre is big thanks to the grandfather series that founded it being a reliable source of high-quality experiences that people struggle to find in the rest of the industry. If FromSoft wasn’t continuing to pump out new titles, the genre would’ve probably faded from the mainstream as well.

This is actually one of the best lists I've seen however I do love Dark souls 3 it would be my number 1 Ds1 would be 2 then Elden Ring 3 I just loved Elden Ring I can't place it in 1 or 2 because I have such a profound impact on the older souls games.

Before I tried DS2, I had finished ER, BB and DS1. Then going into DS2, I really hated how it felt. It was a miserable experience and I had no want to go back to the series. Then DS3 went on steam sale with all the dlc so I picked it up and OMG it's like night and day. it feels like a joy to play instead of the drudgery of DS2. And I hate that. Not just because of the game feel but it's also my husbands fav DS game. I wish I could love it. I've legit given it three tries and it just feels like ass.

"it seems to mainstream" buddy, Elden Ring is one of the biggest games in the world... it's already "mainstream"... stop. Maybe oh I don't know... FROM wants to make some money off this franchise that took way too long to make?

the most disgusting feeling there can be is when you feel like the game plays you.. it controls you.. for your money... so the question for me is how the handholding games were and are so massive..

Started playing Sekiro recently. I don't feel some sense of grand elation when i beat a boss. It's more like relief. I can't really celebrate for long knowing i got seven more bosses on the map that are hard to beat, so they game does addict me to it to keep on going, but i feel kinda miserable the whole way through. I beat Wo Long and i beat Blasphemous and they were kinda fun despite their difficulty, but Sekiro takes it to a whole other level. If it weren't for cheesing, i probably wouldn't have beaten so many bosses. I wish Sekiro played more like Metal Gear Rising or Ninja Gaiden, you know, FUN, because the whole vibe, story, atmosphere and art direction of Sekiro is awesome, but the depressing difficulty robs so much of my ability to enjoy it. At least put an easy mode for those of us that are not masochistic giga nerds. It's not like they have to choose that mode. This was the same problem I had with Hollow Knight. I couldn't beat it, yet was one of the most beautiful games I've seen.

Kadokawa president did somem criminal stuff an company in trouble an kakoa is trying to forcible take them over in which they dont want an so they approached sony who they have a good relationship with to purchase them! Sony just want the anime side but kadokawa want complete ownership. Why people act like sony has'nt been doing good in games! Just because sony let there devs (A new studio at that) have too much freedom an naughty had ellie being gay sense ps3 last of us left behind dlc in 2013. Were firewalk now sense concord "They got closed down" Sony, microsoft, nintendo, an even valve are about money an there devs suppose to be the money maker. Thats all this is. So blame the dev vision "For the fuck up" not the ones funding them to create something.

While the technical problems are mostly fixed, the core game design is still very flawed and (at least for me) unfun. Extremely low enemy variety, lots of boss recycling, bosses are just weak and boring, terrible & repetitive leveldesign that's extremely formulaic, exploring Umbral is much better now but still not very fun, limited build variety. This question is impossible to answer since everyone has different opinions, but personally, I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone, sadly. I really wanted it to be good.

1:10 you forgot bloodborne because it's been already forgotten by gamers as a whole. Let's see. The game released in 2015 and is still locked to Playstation. It's not available to majority of souls players that are mainly on PC. It's no suprise it's only popular in playstation community as a "exclusive".

I love this game so much. When I bought it I did 3 playthroughs back to back to back and got the platinum. I CANNOT WAIT for the DLC & hopefully a sequel for Lies of P connected to the endgame cutscene. So hyped for whatever comes next….

I loved this game. Couldn´t finish it though becuause from on point onwards it kept crashing on my PS5. Was the only game doing this so it definitely wasn´t a hardware issue and it first occured after a certain patch. Didn´t get resolved for about two weeks and after several patches I stopped playing. Might start it again on my PS5 Pro but I am somehow afraid the same problem will occur again ^^

Couldn't agree more. There is a sense of satisfaction that the dark souls games gave that no other souls like has given yet including elden ring. We need dark souls to continue, or if not dark souls itself then a new series very similar to it, as it can be argued that dark souls 3 ended the series. I do like elden ring but it's just too much to focus on with the open world. Quantity is not always good. The dark souls games had levels and enemies which were unique and purposefully placed to get you to strategise and plan. I am left craving more after dark souls 3 🥲

Imagine if they modded the entire dark souls 1 as a dark souls 3 mod? I don't think it needs a remake, dark souls archthrones had enemies, bosses, and levels modded in from bloodborne, dark souls 1 & 2, sekiro, and elden ring, I think the og demon's souls as well, of course they used new models for those enemies but they made it work somehow and people still enjoyed the mod!

(Dark Souls 4: The Flame Awakens) hehehehehe All of these games From Soft have done have such a rich lore and story. Bloodborne 2 ? Fuck yes will sell, Dark souls 4 deffo will sell. I think what they have done with the story of each is make them confusing and long winded so that we get engrosssed in the lore of the game which in turn makes us interested in thge game. I stopped playing all of them because i suck....but i have watched countless videos explaining the story of each game. Great works of fiction that are very compelling and dark and scary and fun :)
