Welcome lovers of ancient Celtic folk song! Welcome to my solo folk project!
I've spent the last year living on Bowen Island, singing in the forest and practising new tunes. Missing out on playing with my band and performing live, I've decided to start this channel here as a way of sharing my music. Enjoy!

The Way - Trusting the Process | A Healing Song for Inner Peace & Growth
A healing anthem to remind us that sometimes, the path we seek is already within us, for the way knows the way! Trust the journey, embrace the unknown and find peace in the process. I hope this song resonates with you as deeply as it resonated with me when I wrote it in a time of nothing being clear to me but knowing I just had to take the next step and it would be revealed, one step at a time.

Lyrics:
It's OK that I don’t know the way
For the way knows the way. (x2)
It’s OK if I just take one step,
For a step is still a step. (x2)
It’s OK if all I do is trust,
For to trust is all I can do. (x2)
It’s OK if I can’t see my light,
For my light it seeks the light. (x2)
It’s OK that I don’t have the answer,
For the question is the answer. (x2)
OK that I am at the end,
For the end is also the start. (x2)
It’s OK if I don’t know the way,
For the way it knows the way. (x2)
Filmed on location on Quadra Island, British Columbia and Sintra, Portugal.
Videographers: Rachael Dudley and Manuela Maudet Ceron.
Edited by: Rachael Dudley and Bronwyn Churcher.
Post-production: Vasilisa Forbes.
Audio recorded, mixed and mastered: Aaron James of Dreamhouse Studios, Nanaimo BC

She Moved Through the Fair - Celtic Folk Ballad - Harmonium
มุมมอง 4633 ปีที่แล้ว
The original text of “She Moved through the Fair” dates back to an ancient Irish ballad from Donegal, while the melody could very likely be from the Middle Ages (and the musical scale used is similarly found in old Middle Eastern/Arabic music). The standard version of this song does however come from the pen of Padraic Colum (1881-1972) who rewrote it in 1909. There are many versions of the tex...
As I Roved Out or The False Bride - Celtic Forest Folk Sessions
มุมมอง 1203 ปีที่แล้ว
Filmed at dusk with the frogs harmonizing along, this is an old heart-wrenching tune likely from Napoleonic times. It tells the tale of true love lost of a government decree that was issued in Ireland at the time, telling young men they would be rewarded handsomely if they married the wives of landed lords who were away at war so the land would continue to be worked and cared for. Many men livi...
Lowlands Away - Celtic Forest Folk Sessions (A Capella)
มุมมอง 7253 ปีที่แล้ว
A sea shanty found in the British and American traditions and would've likely have been sung on deck while working the pumps or pulling up a snagged anchor. Folk collector A.L. Lloyd believed it to be a fragment of an Anglo-Scots ballad that was passed on to British seamen. Sung while staring out to the sea on a windy forest walk in April!
Sí Bheag, Sí Mór / Tabhair Dom Do Lámh - Two Irish Airs on Fiddle
มุมมอง 5463 ปีที่แล้ว
Two old Irish airs: Sí Beag, Sí Mhór is said to be the first composition of Turlough O'Carolan. It is likely named after an ancient burial site in County Leitrim.and means "Small Fairy Mound, Big Fairy Mound." The second is a well-known tune from the 17th century, also written originally for harp by Derry harpist Ruaidri Dáll Ó Catháin. It was later adapted The Wolfetones who added lyrics about...
Fear a’ Bhàta
มุมมอง 3.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A Scottish Gaelic song likely from the end of the 18th century. The legend behind this one is that it was written by one Sine NicFhionnlaigh (Jean Finlayson) of Tong, a small village on the Isle of Lewis for a young Uig fisherman, Domhnall MacRath (Donald MacRae). And apparently a year after it was written, the two got married... Fear translates as “man” and “Bhata,” “boat”: the man of the boat...
My Lagan Love/Ciamar a Ni Mi
มุมมอง 8293 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a song written to a traditional Irish air collected in 1903 in northern Donegal, the lyrics attributed to the poet Seosamh MacCathmhaoil. I learned this version from Margaret Barry and accompany myself here on harmonium. The tune I add on is called "Ciamar a ni mi 'n dannsa da reachand" and is an old tune in Scott's Gaelic which I learned in a vocal workshop with Peia last year, who lea...

Bronwyn! Is there any chance that your brilliant live show, “As I Roved Out” will be / or has been recorded? I would love to see it but I can’t make it to the live locations. So very pleased that you have created such a piece ❤️❤️
Three excellent pieces. I never knew they were actually a set, how 'bout that. I've only heard them all played by The Celtic Fiddle Festival many years ago and it was the best thing ever. Thank you for this.
