A joyous reinterpretation. This guy is a prodigy, a magnetic performer and has made the song his own. Somehow it’s believable that a mutated Cathy Earnshaw is being channeled by a bearded hipster. The voice starts mellow with no hint of the runs and vocal dexterity to come. I love the choppiness of the beats, the slap bass and Korg interludes, the wall of 80s synths, the cowbell. The more you listen the more detail you hear. There’s even a sneaky key change. Accomplished video too with best deployment of floppy hair. Pop brilliance.
