    Had a fun but friendly debate today with someone about using round vs shaped ammo in your less lethal as well as nylon vs metal ammo and the legal ramifications of using each in a self defense situation. I don't personally like or use shaped rounds as they open up to many possible legal issues, same with metal rounds, but I understand why people use them. I like the round nylon rounds as they spread the kinetic energy over a larger area for more pain compliance vs shaped that focus its energy on a smaller point. He did point out that shaped rounds are actually better in a cooler/colder environment because they provide better impact against heavier clothing, with is true. Since he lives in the Northeast where its colder, the metal and shaped rounds provide more overall protection in his experience. It was a good discussion and I had to agree with him that against heavier or thicker clothing a smaller point of impact would make a difference.

    • @Seabass1206
      @Seabass1206 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      it’s silly when people talk about this “legal” thing, we are allowed to defend ourselves and its already a less lethal weapon! this is if the bad guy calls in but that won’t happen with something that’s truly less lethal! If your using something more powerful then its not less lethal and you should only use it in a legitimate situation anyways!

    • @Joreel
      @Joreel 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Seabass1206 While I respect your opinions, there is a very real reason to always be considering the legal issues of using anything when defending yourself. Every State, County, and City have varying laws that will have an effect on the use of less lethal launchers and the type of rounds you use, how much force is considered legal vs excessive force, whether or not the use was justified, ect... For example, in California the use of air powered launchers outside designated areas are illegal in many counties and cities. Peppeball rounds are illegal and their possession and/or use is a felony unless you are law enforcement or licensed security with the proper Chemical Certifications. New York has similar laws as well. This is why we discuss the legal ramifications, because most people aren't aware of the laws in their State, Counties, or Cities unless they check for those laws. Many people who are just coming into the less lethal community may not be aware that there could be laws on the books concerning air powered launchers in their areas, so we try to encourage them to look up the laws if there are any to understand what effect they may have on using less lethal for self defense. As for criminals calling it in that they were the victim of an assault by you, you'd be surprised by how many times that happens, especially in states and cities where the DAs are very liberal and side with the criminals over the residents because of DEI and Social and Economic injustices of Minorities. California and New York are prime examples of such places, but it's common in many Democratic run states, so don't be surprised if you use your launcher and you find yourself having to defend yourself in court.

    So I got my replacement cap from Salt. I went ahead and sealed that set screw with JB Weld as an experiment. Covered the whole set screw thinking there is no way any air is going to leak out past the JB Weld. Well, it did not take too many shots before the dreaded "hissing" started again! Is it leaking from some other part of the cap I wonder, and not from the set screw?? Since I bought this for less lethal purposes, I popped in a fresh CO2 cartridge, pierced it and fired all the rounds as it was leaking. They came out pretty good I think and would probably still have a good sting, but tactically it is awkward as you would have to wait right up until you commit to shooting, then pop the CO2. Not good. So when you talk about gram weight on the HPA tank or the CO2 tank it kinda goes over my head because I don't use them so I'm not totally sure how you're calcutating how many shots a tank has. It seems like the CO2 tank is more reliable than the HPA when it comes to shot power, so that would seem to be the one to be used for home defense. Could you use a 88/90 gram CO2 on that launcher somehow? I could be wrong though about the reliability since I dont actually use them. LL4D and RuneRebel are both definitely rooting for you to get this thing to 25-30 joules though 😅

    • @frgtdrepsn2904
      @frgtdrepsn2904 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Joreel The CO2 tank is similar to the little 8, 12, 16, or 20 gram carts.... Except the big refillable CO2 tanks i use can hold up to 570 grams. A normal paintball marker using the normal amount of air can expect to get 600-800 shots out of that blue co2 tank. HPA is measured in PSI, so the silver aluminum tank im using capacity is 48 cubic inches @ 3000 PSI. For the HPA tank, the regulator shows you how much air pressure is left in the bottle. Carbon fiber tanks can hold up to 4500 PSI, so about 50% more air can get put into the carbon fiber tanks. Those are pricey tho, around $130-$230 or more, depending what u buy. I could connect a 88/90 gram CO2 disposable cartridge with this Tippmann A5, but i would need an adapter 🫡

      @@JollUsARoint Its a good little air gun revolver. I like that it can reload pretty quick and it has decent power when it is modified. I have had a small issue where the barrel spring pops off and it causes the drum to not cycle correctly, but that has only happened once so far

    The S2 is way better than the Byrna LE and has numbers what the LE was "supposed" to have. Also only loses like 10 fps per each round - pretty damned good for an out of the box launcher
