Hi and thanks for your interest. Last year I joined a Sea Shanty group known as The Causeway Shantymen and it takes up most of my time outside my normal working week. Have a look for us on Facebook and TH-cam if you like that sort of thing. No, I never published any of my compositions, I should really get on that as they are mounting up 😊

This song, among other things, made me want an accordion for years. When I had saved it up after a long time (saw a second hand one in a small shop nearby my village)....I just received an accordion in december from someone from my church: as a gift!!! I've practiced every day since then and it's going pretty well. Can play the Wellerman in a slightly easier way than you. The rithm is a bit difficult. This song really makes me happy.❤

Yes,this Braidwood tune ....today in oblivion,as so many other popular tunes, played in the early 50s.And it happened more and more.Reason? BBC wanted to get rid of accordion music. They have destroyed their "own" BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra)leader Dennis mcConnel, conductor Jack Leon)Leon died and lan Sutherland and Ian Tire took over The arranged lots of Gow tunes and other ones..Until the mid 60s,which was to be the end of the "Light Orchestra era".BBC wanted to promote the "Celtic Confectionaries",as called by initiated. And that's why accordion SDB's had to make way for that. However...they've lost the battle, thanks heaven! Trad style 's been saved from extinction!!!!!And now we have the best (ceilidh) bands ever.(Haggish Chasers, a big group of outstanding band leaders, such as Allie mcCuish, Tom Orr,(with marie Fielding) Gordon Shand(not related to Sir Jimmy) David Kennedy,Craig Paton and many more band MEMBERs.

Hi Valerie. Its been a while since I done these but it sounds like I had my expander plugged in through my desk. I tend to turn the treble off as I prefer the natural sound of the accordion but there may be a faint bass coming through. The expander would have been the V3 "band in a box" expander. I don't think it's available anymore.

Yeah I'd looked to try and get one a while back. Such a pity cos the drum/bass/chord combination is perfect for what we do. Could never find it anywhere else unfortunately. Even bought the Roland bk7m...but nothing as default sounds as good. And I can't be arsed sitting down to modify it lol. Hope all well.

Lovely version of this classic piece. I went to music lessons with the composer as a child and I did that piece for my Grade 5. Keith Harling used to have 2 tortoises in his garden! He was quite a character and an all round really nice bloke. I remember many hours stumbling over those triplets! It's not an easy piece to play with finesse as it is quite fast and has many changes in dynamics. The final coda should be played quite brashly however I used to get so tired by that point I had run out of strength. I heard Keith himself play it at the Winter Gardens in Eastbourne and it was a pleasure to hear.
