Hi does the gt86 diff internals fit into the is200 diff casing so you use the 4 bolt flanges and drive shafts?
@@thomasscott199 no it doesn't, the 4 bolt casing is smaller. You can use the driveshafts from is250 with a gt86 diff but you'll lose abs
@@alexleto430 ok cheers for that 👍
You are one dumb tech why are you frighten a little timing belt the job is so easy people who watch this find another you tube channel
Stupied
Don’t do it the way he’s doing Easyer one to do it
This requires serious ambition - how haven’t you given up, considering the amount of rust?
that's practically rust free for a UK car, though I've already found even more rust, since this video went live🤣
this is the least rusty e36 i have ever seen lol..
my e36 is so bad :(
@@Sage-vr1lx they are all bad, dude. The good thing is it's all fixable
I need more !! When's the next one ?
@@feedback_m1323 I've got lot's of work this week, but I'll try to get another episode out next week
Dudei was looking for this video. I have the same issue with the kidneys. THEY HAVE BEEN ENIALATED! :D
@@TheDonod they do love doing it
@@alexleto430 yeah! Did you put any protective spray on them or anything else? Im thinking about changing mine and protecting them in some way i guess.
@@TheDonod I didn't get to the point, but I'd strongly advise applying something to trust proof them especially from the inside.
@@alexleto430 yeah this is what i meant. To battle the rust. 🤔 Thanks for the hints and i will be watching part 2 tomorrow!
@@TheDonod you can try applying dinitrol 4941 on the outside and some cavity wax on the inside. You can also spray some cavity wax inside the captive nuts that hold the kidney braces. That area tends to rust from inside out.
What was the first belt that was taken off?... Thank you
It was the alternator belt
I also owned a 318i with M43B18. Keeping it park in the garage for now. Didn't have a budget to restore it yet.
I won't check it. I'd say 65k. I do like a touring car build but just enjoy it stock. I prefer a preface lift front end but either way, nice buy
Thanks for the comment. I'm leaning towards keeping it OEM plus with a m52b28
E36 318is perhaps
Thanks for making this video Alex. I followed it to a T and fixed my lexus. You're a legend!!!
Thank you, I'm glad it helped you 👍
Read the manual bro…
yep, it helps a lot, but it's not as fun 🤣
Thank you for this, it helped a bunch 😊
5:33....... Im going through this exact same thing, i gotta weld new metal in that exact same corner with new threads for the mounting points. Im in the process of dropping the rear subframe and exhaust system and drive shaft. Well now im scared to even do it i dont wanna burn the house down lol 😔🤦♂️. Might just have a shop do it professionally honestly
Well, you can learn from mistakes. If you do decide do it yourself.1) Take everything out of the interior (seats, carpet, sound deadening). 2) don't do it alone. Have someone to spot you. 3) fire extinguisher. Even if you don't weld anything it can become useful one day
This is 1g-fe motor ?
Yep, good ol' 1g🤣
same issue 😢
Make sure that you plugged all the wires correctly. Hope it will come to life🤞
Same issue...whats your problem? When i turn on ignition, nothing happens...
In my case it's just started working. I don't remember if I did anything though. It takes a few moments to come to life
Wow that mud in the cooling system is something! Was the heater core itself busted too? I let some CRC Evaporust sit in mine for 6 weeks, the donor engine i got was rusty and filthy, after 6 weeks it went from green to black and made it all brand new, also it dosnt attack good steel just oxidisation, and it works as really good fertiliser for your garden afterwards.
Just did mine made a world of a difference.Twas a bit fiddly but worth it.
Pode me ajudar ? Por favor
I'm sorry but I don't speak Portuguese
I cant believe it runs smoothly the way you put on the timingbelt 😂..I think you should keep the roller pully side tight and the tensioner side loose
Hello Where do you get the aluminium guibo? Thanks
eBay, mate.
Appreciate u so much for making this
Hello mate that part its only for right hand drive? Thanks
The aluminium bushing or the U joint? As far as I know the U joints are different on LHD and RHD cars
How did you undo the crankshaft pulley main bolt?
I used one of the auxiliary belts to hold the crank pulley. Check the link in the description, there's a photo of how to loop it.
Hello, cheers for this guide full of detail. What belts do you need please? There are 3 rib and 4 rib belts for the auxiliaries...
As far as I remember there are 3 belts. The 3-rib one goes on to the power steering pump, the other 2 with 4 ribs are for the alternator and AC compressor.
@@alexleto430 Thank you.
Thank dude. I already swapped the ignition coils from the old engine and it started a lot better. But the 4th cylinder is still misfiring😂
I put a new N54 in my car had a injector spark plug and coil that were bad on the first start. Had to test 12 injectors from both my engines and get new plugs and coils I ended up with all index 5 and 8 injectors teflon wrapped them which is the best thing to do for those and they sit extra snug and are more reliable that way. had a extra index 12 in the mix which wildly not the way to go at all with just mixed with 5 and 8's. car runs super good right now wish yah luck too the most of us get to that part of owning some bimmers
Привет, скажи красным цветом ты покрываешь это что грунтовка ?
Чтоб не ржавела ?
Это медный грунт для сварки. Copper weld through primer
Thank you for the RHD video 📹
Quick tip for anyone doing this: Disconnect the fuel pump/sending unit (passenger rear underneath bench seat) & sending unit (driver side rear under bench seat) plugs for both of them. That way you arent fighting plugs underneath the car
Thanks for the video! I will be attempting this soon. The torque settings for the cover bolts are 8.5nm and the spark plugs are 18nm.
Just done a full exhaust swap on my Z and while laying under it looking at all the rust i know I've got to deal with it before it's too far gone, been getting MOT advisories on the state of it for the past 2 years but not got around to sorting it. Replaced my W brace now as it fell apart when i removed it to get to the exhaust, but i think the only reason i haven't got an MOT fail for the state of the kidney brackets is the plastic covers that used to conceal them. You can't refit them with the ultra racing w brace so I've gotta get them off and sort them now. Wire wheel + acf50 and/or painting is the plan. So glad i found your channel as all these rust remedies are exactly what i need to do. I'll have the skirts/front fenders off & check the shock mounting points thanks to your advice. Horrible what happened to your Z but the advice you've given will hopefully save mine and others!
Thank you for the support. I hope you can save your Z. It is quite a big job but it's better to get it done sooner rather than later. Z is a really cool car and definitely worth saving 😎
You are a brave man. Wish i had a garage dpace like you. Nice work boyo
Thanks 👍
i take it the oil pump pulley timing doesnt matter? i bumped it with the belt off. the manual doesnt say anything about it, it says to put paint marks on crank pulley and cam pulley but doesnt mention oil pump pulley. so i assume im good to go.
mrbidouille.ch/images/articles/2020-05-06-is200-timing-belt/28-timing-marked-bottom.jpg this is how the bottom pulley should be timed
thanks, i didnt bump that one though, the one next to it for the oil pump. i was pretty sure that was fine but upon googling i found people talking about their oil pump timing, but further googling showed some cars need their oil pump timed, not for the pump, but for the balance shaft or something. but my car didnt have that so i dont have to worry about it. you can free spin the oil pump all you want. everything is back together now, i just have to tighten the accesery belts and put the radiator back in.@@alexleto430
thanks, by the way. this was incredibly helpful. although it turns out that bolt at about 40:00 can actually be unscrewed. it has a little hex head at the end. i didnt realize until after i removed the powersteering pump bracket, which would not be necesary if you removed the bolt. but i noticed it was loose afterwards, then noticed the hex head, so unscrewed it with pliers and it made reassembly a lot easier. i still think the engineers did it deliberately to mess with mechanics though.
Oh that's a useful bit of information, thanks. And I'm glad it was helpful 😄
40:00 seems deliberate. engineers really dont like mechanics.
My IS200 is burning/losing something like 500ml per 1000km and the motor is normally not known for losing oil. Maybe I will try this.
Seems very excessive for this engine. Does it smoke when it's running?
try repacing the PCV valve and using an oil leak stopper additive like Liqui Molly.
BMW on top
Thanks for the update. Honda Jazz K24 perhaps. Decent car mind you. Have a happy new year bud
Hahaha. It would be an ace project for sure. Happy new year, dude!
What work is required with the stock IS200 propshaft to get it to work with the IS300 diff?
If I remember correctly, the stock prop is shorter and you'd need to adjust the center prop bearing. Some people don't recommend doing it because it puts more stress on the bearing. I've never done it myself, so can't really give any advice. I guess worst case you'd be looking at a new bearing
I don't understand how this engine locks up. I did a timing belt job on a 4 banger with DOHC before and it was pretty easy because you would just slide a locking tool in between the two camshaft sprockets to lock the engine during the entire operation, thus ensuring that timing wouldn't skip. This having that big sprocket (I assume for VVTi), I just don't see how the engine doesn't spin while working on it.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I was hesitant at first. But to be honest it's really hard to knock it out of place once you put all the timing marks in their correct spots. As long as you double check everything and don't move the main sprocket it's a relatively straightforward process
Gah my sportcross has this issue must get it sorted
Stupid
Did you ever make this , did it work and can you share the design please
Long story short, we fixed my mate's z with the plates I had made. I shaped them by hand on the car. This area is always covered by the skirts so as long as you remove all the rust and make it structurally sound, it should be ok
